Geographical background and dispersal ability may strongly influence assemblage dissimilarity;however,these aspects have generally been overlooked in previous large-scale beta diversity ***,we examined whether the patterns and drivers of taxonomic beta diversity(TBD)and phylogenetic beta diversity(PBD)of breeding birds in China vary across(1)regions on both sides of the Hu Line,which demarcates China’s topographical,climatic,economic,and social patterns,and(2)species with different dispersal *** and PBD were calculated and partitioned into turnover and nestedness components using a moving window *** representing climate,habitat heterogeneity,and habitat quality were employed to evaluate the effects of environmental *** distance was considered to assess the impact of dispersal *** partitioning analysis was applied to assess the relative roles of these *** general,the values of TBD and PBD were high in mountainous areas and were largely determined by environmental ***,different dominant environmental filters on either side of the Hu Line led to divergent beta diversity ***,climate-driven species turnover and habitat heterogeneity-related species nestedness dominated the regions east and west of the line,***,bird species with stronger dispersal ability were more susceptible to environmental filtering,resulting in more homogeneous *** results indicated that regions with distinctive geographical backgrounds may present different ecological factors that lead to divergent assemblage dissimilarity patterns,and dispersal ability determines the response of assemblages to these ecological *** a single universal explanation for the observed pattern without considering these aspects may lead to simplistic or incomplete ***,a comprehensive understanding of large-scale beta diversity patterns and effective pla

Cambricon-QR:a sparse and bitwise reproducible quantized training accelerator

Quantized training has been proven to be a prominent method to achieve deep neural network training under limited computational *** uses low bit-width arithmetics with a proper scaling factor to achieve negligible accuracy ***-Q is the ASIC design proposed to efficiently support quantized training,and achieves significant performance ***,there are still two caveats in the ***,Cambricon-Q with different hardware specifications may lead to different numerical errors,resulting in non-reproducible behaviors which may become a major concern in critical ***,Cambricon-Q cannot leverage data sparsity,where considerable cycles could still be squeezed *** address the caveats,the acceleration core of Cambricon-Q is redesigned to support fine-grained irregular data *** new design not only enables acceleration on sparse data,but also enables performing local dynamic quantization by contiguous value ranges(which is hardware independent),instead of contiguous addresses(which is dependent on hardware factors).Experimental results show that the accuracy loss of the method still keeps negligible,and the accelerator achieves 1.61×performance improvement over Cambricon-Q,with about 10%energy increase.

Atomically dispersed calcium as solid strong base catalyst with high activity and stability

Solid strong base catalysts are highly attractive for diverse reactions owing to their advantages of neglectable corrosion,facile separation,and environmental ***,their widespread applications are impeded by basic components aggregation and low *** this work,we fabricate single calcium atoms on graphene （denoted as Ca1/G） by use of a redox strategy for the first time,producing solid strong base catalyst with high activity and *** precursor Ca（NO3）2is first reduced to CaO at 400℃ by the support graphene,forming CaO/G with conventional basic sites,and the subsequent reduction at 850℃ results in the generation of Ca1/G with atomically dispersed *** characterizations reveal that Ca single atoms are anchored on graphene in tetra-coordination （Ca–C2–N2） where N is in situ doped from Ca（NO3）*** atomically dispersed Ca,along with their anchoring on the support,endow Ca1/G with high activity and stability toward the transesterification reaction of ethylene carbonate with *** turnover frequency value reaches 128.0 h-1on Ca1/G,which is much higher than the traditional counterpart CaO/G and various reported solid strong bases (2.9–46.2 h-1).Moreover,the activity of Ca1/G is well maintained during 5 cycles,while 60% of activity is lost for the conventional analogue CaO/G due to the leaching of Ca.

Depositional model of the Member Deng-2 marginal microbial mound-bank complex of the Dengying Formation in the southwestern Sichuan Basin, SW China: Implications for the Ediacaran microbial mound construction and hydrocarbon exploration

Recent advances in hydrocarbon exploration have been made in the Member Deng-2 marginal microbial mound-bank complex reservoirs of the Dengying Formation in the western Sichuan Basin, SW China,where the depositional process is regarded confusing. The microfacies, construction types, and depositional model of the Member Deng-2 marginal microbial mound-bank complex have been investigated using unmanned aerial vehicle photography, outcrop section investigation, thin section identification,and seismic reflections in the southwestern Sichuan Basin. The microbialite lithologic textures in this region include thrombolite, dendrolite, stromatolite, fenestral stromatolite, spongiostromata stone,oncolite, aggregated grainstone, and botryoidal grapestone. Based on the comprehensive analysis of“depositional fabrics-lithology-microfacies”, an association between a fore mound, mound framework,and back mound subfacies has been proposed based on water depth, current direction, energy level and lithologic assemblages. The microfacies of the mound base, mound core, mound flank, mound cap, and mound flat could be recognized among the mound framework subfacies. Two construction types of marginal microbial mound-bank complex have been determined based on deposition location, mound scale, migration direction, and sedimentary facies association. Type Jinkouhe microbial mound constructions(TJMMCs) develop along the windward margin owing to their proximity to the seaward subfacies fore mound, with a northeastwardly migrated microbial mound on top of the mud mound,exhibiting the characteristics of large-sized mounds and small-sized banks in the surrounding area. Type E'bian microbial mound constructions(TEMMCs) primarily occur on the leeward margin, resulting from the presence of onshore back mound subfacies, with the smaller southwestward migrated microbial mounds existing on a thicker microbial flat. Podostemaceae(riverweed family),one of the largest aquatic plant families in the world,comprises about 350 species in 51 genera placed in three subfamilies,Podostemoideae,Weddellinoideae,and Tristichoideae(Koi et al.,2022).Most Podostemaceae genera(~38)are monotypic or oligotypic,with a high level of endemism(Koi et al.,2018,2022).Members of Podostemaceae adhere to rocks in fast-flowing rivers,streams,or waterfalls in the subtropics and tropics(Koi et al.,2018).As an adaptation to fastrunning currents,the morphological structure of river-weeds tends to be extremely reduced,including a loss or reduction of primary shoots or roots(Koi and Kato,2007).The vegetative mass of these plants resembles lichens or bryophytes,and are thus known commonly as“dream bryophytes”(Philbrick and Retana,1998).Podostemaceae plants flower when the water level drops during the dry *** recent years,anthropogenic factors and climate change have severely affected river weed habitats,decreasing populations of these plants.

Analysis of long-term outcome of modified gastric bypass for type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese patients

BACKGROUND Bariatric and metabolic surgery have been routinely performed following the rapid increase in obesity and metabolic diseases *** all evolving procedures,Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB)is considered the gold standard for surgical treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and *** was introduced in China nearly 20 years ago,but the number of RYGB surgeries only accounts for 3.1%of the total number of weight loss and metabolic surgeries in China,it’s effect on Chinese people still needs further *** To investigate the effect and safety of a modified gastric bypass performed in Chinese patients with *** Patients with obesity and T2DM who underwent modified gastric bypass,with>5-year follow-up data,were *** All 37 patients underwent uneventful laparoscopic surgery,no patient was switched to laparotomy during the surgery,and no severe complications were *** weight and body mass index of the patients reduced from 84.6±17.3(60.0–140.0)kg and 30.9±5.0(24.7–46.2)kg/m2 to 67.1±12.2(24.7–46.2)kg and 24.6±3.9(17.7–36.5)kg/m2,respectively,and fasting plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin decreased from 7.4±3.4 mmol/L and 8.2%±1.7%preoperatively to 6.5±1.3 mmol/L and 6.5%±0.9%5-years postoperatively,*** 29.7%(11/37)of the patients used hypoglycemic drugs 5-years postoperatively,and the complete remission rate of T2DM was 29.7%(11/37).Triglyceride level reduced significantly but high-density lipoprotein increased significantly(both P<0.05)compared with those during the preoperative *** and renal function improved significantly postoperatively,and binary logistic regression analysis revealed that the patients’preoperative history of T2DM and fasting C-peptide were significant prognostic factors influencing complete T2DM remission after RYGB(P=0.006 and 0.012,respectively).CONCLUSION The modified gastric bypass is a safe and feasible procedure for Chinese patients with obesity an
