2D nanomaterials are widely investigated for biomedical applications,attributed to their large specific surface area,high therapeutic loading capacity,and unique optical,thermal,and/or electronic characteristics.Lattice defects affect the theranostic performance of 2D nanomaterials significantly by altering their electronic properties and chemical binding.Recent investigations have shown that defect-rich 2D nanomaterials are capable of enhancing tumor treatment through efficient drug delivery,photothermal and photodynamic therapies(PTT and PDT),and improving diagnostics via computed tomography(CT),photoacoustic and magnetic resonance imaging.This review summarizes recent progresses,including synthesis,characterization approach,and applications of defect-engineered 2D nanomaterials that are potentially useful in cancer treatment.The expert opinions are also proposed as the conclusion.

liver transplantation is the optimal treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease,metabolic liver diseases,and hepatic malignancies that are not amenable to resection.Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)is the main problem in liver transplantation and liver resection,leading to parenchymal cell injury and organ dysfunction.The damage of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells(LSECs)is a critical event in IRI.LSECs work as an important regulating factor of liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy.This review primarily describes the mechanisms of LSECs injury in IRI and explores the roles of LSECs in liver regeneration,and briefly introduces the protective strategies targeting LSECs damaged in IRI.

The yield ratios of neutron-proton(R(n/p))and^(3)H-^(3)He(R(^(3)H∕^(3)He))with reduced rapidity from 0 to 0.5 were simulated at 50 MeV/u even-even ^(36−56)Ca+^(40)Ca,even-even ^(48−78)Ni+^(58)Ni,and ^(100−139)Sn(every third isotopes)+112 Sn for full reduced impact parameters using the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics(IQMD)model.The neutron and proton density distributions and root-mean-square radii of the reaction systems were obtained using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model,which was used for the phase space initialization of the projectile and target in IQMD.We defined the unified neutron skin thickness asΔRnp=^(1∕2) n−^(1∕2)p,which was negative for neutron-deficient nuclei.The unifiedΔRnp values for nuclei with the same relative neutron excess from different isotopic chains were nearly equal,except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,which is a type of scaling behavior.The yield ratios of the three isotopic chain-induced reactions,which depended on the reduced impact parameter and unified neutron skin thickness,were studied.The results showed that both R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)decreased with a reduced impact parameter for extreme neutron-deficient isotopes;however,they increased with reduced impact parameters for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,and increased with theΔRnp of the projectiles for all reduced impact parameters.In addition,a scaling phenomenon was observed betweenΔR np and the yield ratios in peripheral colli-sions from different isotopic chain projectiles(except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes).Thus,R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)from peripheral collisions were suggested as experimental probes for extracting the neutron or proton skin thicknesses of non-extreme neutron-rich nuclei from different isotopic chains.

Cadmium(Cd)is a non-essential toxic heavy metal,seriously posing high environmental risks to human health.Digging genetic resources relevant to functional genes is important for understanding the metal absorption and accumulation in crops and bioremediation of Cd-polluted environments.This study investigated a functionally uncharacterized ATP binding cassette transporter G family(ABCG)gene encoding a Pleiotropic Drug Resistance 20(PDR20)type metal transporter which is localized to the plasma membrane of rice.OsPDR20 was transcriptionally expressed in almost all tissues and organs in lifespan and was strongly induced in roots and shoots of young rice under Cd stress.Ectopic expression of OsPDR20 in a yeast mutant ycf1 sensitive to Cd conferred cellular tolerance with less Cd accumulation.Knockdown of OsPDR20 by RNA interference(RNAi)moderately attenuated root/shoot elongation and biomass,with reduced chlorophylls in rice grown under hydroponic medium with 2 and 10μmol/L Cd,but led to more Cd accumulation.A field trial of rice grown in a realistic Cd-contaminated soil(0.40 mg/kg)showed that RNAi plants growth and development were also compromised compared to wild-type(WT),with smaller panicles and lower spikelet fertility but little effect on yield of grains.However,OsPDR20 suppression resulted in unexpectedly higher levels of Cd accumulation in rice straw including lower leaves and culm and grain.These results suggest that OsPDR20 is actively involved in Cd accumulation and homeostasis in rice crops.The increased Cd accumulation in the RNAi plants has the potential application in phytoremediation of Cd-polluted wetland soils.

Numerous experimental life-history studies on aging are mainly baised on two classical models—fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster(Meigen)and nematode Caenorhab-ditis elegans(Maupas)—with relatively little attention given to other organisms with different life-history characters.Two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch(Acari:Tetranychidae)differs from many other arthropods in that the females continue their growth in the early adult stage and can reproduce sexually and asexually.In this study,the influences of dietary restriction and delayed mating on the aging patterns of the spider mite were examined with the prevailing survival and reproduction trade-off hypothesis of aging being tested.Significant sex-specific responses of the spider mites were found.The females showed longevity extension on diet restriction(fasting for 2 days in every 4 days)compared with their counterparts being fed ad libitum,and after delayed mating for 9 days,while the males displayed a decrease in lifespan when experiencing diet restriction but were not significantly influenced by delayed mating.Path analysis was used to investigate the relationship between mite survival and reproduction traits,including longevity,female lifetime reproduction,age at first reproduction,early reproductive efforts and late reproductive efforts,yielding no evidence for trade-offs between these life-history traits.The additive effects of dietary restriction and delayed mating in lifespan extension of female spider mites were confirmed,proving that diet restriction is a robust anti-aging intervention,and that later onset of reproduction can prolong adult lifespan in females.

In this paper,the authors systematically discuss orbit braids in M×I with regards to orbit configuration space FG(M,n),where M is a connected topological manifold of dimension at least 2 with an effective action of a finite group G.These orbit braids form a group,named orbit braid group,which enriches the theory of ordinary braids.The authors analyze the substantial relations among various braid groups associated to those configuration spaces FG(M,n),F(M/G,n)and F(M,n).They also consider the presentations of orbit braid groups in terms of orbit braids as generators by choosing M=C with typical actions of Zpand(Z_(2))^(2).

A numerical study of hydrodynamic influence on collision of brash ice with a structural plate

The ice-structure collision is a transient process, which is further complicated by the presence of the water. It remains unclear how important the hydrodynamic influences are during the collision. This problem is partially investigated in this paper using numerical methods. To simplify the problem as much as possible without loss of generality, a short ice cylinder of circular section is assumed to collide with a vertical large structure plate under a variety of collision scenarios. Among them the most important cases are: (1) the rigid ice cylinder collision with the rigid or elastic structural plate at different collision velocities, (2) the elastic ice cylinder collision with the rigid or elastic structural plate at different collision velocities and (3) the elastoplastic ice cylinder collision with the rigid or elastic structural plate at different collision velocities. The numerical results show that: (1) the hydrodynamic influences are negligible in the first case, (2) the hydrodynamic influences in the second and third cases are not negligible, and become very significant in the third case. The influences are numerically estimated to be in the range of 20%–60% in terms of the momentum change. If the ice response is approximately decomposed into the rigid-body motions and the deformation modes at the instant of the collision with the structure, the previous conclusions show that the hydrodynamic influences on the rigid-body motions of the ice are negligible, but those on the elastic and elastoplastic modes of the ice are significant. Comparison with the case of a submerged ice cylinder (although not a practical case) reveals that the hydrodynamic influences are small in the first case due to the fact that the energy loss is used to produce the water splash and the cavity behind the ice cylinder. Through this study we come into the conclusion that the hydrodynamic influences are not important for the rigid-body motions, but important for the elastic or elastoplastic modes.

Prescribed Error Performance Control for Second-Order Fully Actuated Systems

In this paper,the prescribed error trajectory control is proposed for second-order fully actuated systems.At first,by taking advantage of the full-actuation property,an intermediate control law is designed such that the intermediate closed-loop system is in a very simple form.Then,by utilizing the initial conditions of system states and the prescribed error performance function,the intermediate control law is developed to force the tracking error of the system on the proposed sliding mode surface from the beginning.The overall control law is obtained by combining the aforementioned steps.It is revealed that under the designed control law,the tracking error of the closed-loop system converges to zero along the prescribed error trajectory.Finally,an example is provided to validate the effectiveness of the presented approach.
