Economical water electrolysis requires highly active non-noble electrocatalysts to overcome the sluggish kinetics of the two half-cell reactions,oxygen evolution reaction,and hydrogen evolution reaction.Although intensive efforts have been committed to achieve a hydrogen economy,the expensive noble metal-based catalysts remain under consideration.Therefore,the engineering of self-supported electrocatalysts prepared using a direct growth strategy on three-dimensional(3D)nickel foam(NF)as a conductive substrate has garnered significant interest.This is due to the large active surface area and 3D porous network offered by these electrocatalysts,which can enhance the synergistic eff ect between the catalyst and the substrate,as well as improve electrocatalytic performance.Hydrothermal-assisted growth,microwave heating,electrodeposition,and other physical methods(i.e.,chemical vapor deposition and plasma treatment)have been applied to NF to fabricate competitive electrocatalysts with low overpotential and high stability.In this review,recent advancements in the development of self-supported electrocatalysts on 3D NF are described.Finally,we provide future perspectives of self-supported electrode platforms in electrochemical water splitting.

Phenomenology of heavy neutral gauge boson at muon collider

Heavy neutral gauge boson Z' is proposed in many new physics models.It has rich phenomena at the future muon collider.We study the properties of Z' boson with the process of μ^(+)μ^(-)→qq,μ^(+)μ^(-)→l^(+)l^(-),μ^(+)μ^(-)→ ZH and μ^(+)μ^(-)→ W^(+)W^(-).The discrepancy of Z' coupling to different types of particles can be shown in the cross section distributions around the resonance peak of various decay modes.Angular distributions of the final quark or lepton in μ^(+)μ^(-)→qq/l^(+)l^(-)process are sensitive to the parameters such as mass of Z' and the Z-Z' mixing angle.The interaction of new gauge boson coupling to the standard model gauge particles and Higgs boson are also studied through μ^(+)μ^(-)→ ZH→l^(+)l^(-)bb and μ^(+)u^(-)→ W^(+)W^(-)→l^(+)l^(-)v_(l)v_(l).The cross section and the final particles' angular distributions with the contribution of Z' boson differ from those processes with only standard model particles.A forward-backward asymmetry defined by the angular distribution is provided to show the potential of searching for new physics at the muon collider.Especially,the beam polarization with certain value can effectively enlarge the forward-backward asymmetry.

Casual associations between blood metabolites and colon cancer

BACKGROUND Limited knowledge exists regarding the casual associations linking blood metabolites and the risk of developing colorectal cancer.AIM To investigate causal associations between blood metabolites and colon cancer.METHODS The study utilized a two-sample Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis to investigate the causal impact of 486 blood metabolites on colorectal cancer.The primary method of analysis used was the inverse variance weighted model.To further validate the results several sensitivity analyses were performed,including Cochran's Q test,MR-Egger intercept test,and MR robust adjusted profile score.These additional analyses were conducted to ensure the reliability and robustness of the findings.RESULTS After rigorous selection for genetic variation,486 blood metabolites were included in the MR analysis.We found Mannose[odds ratio(OR)=2.09(1.10-3.97),P=0.024],N-acetylglycine[OR=3.14(1.78-5.53),P=7.54×10^(-8)],X-11593-O-methylascorbate[OR=1.68(1.04-2.72),P=0.034],1-arachidonoylglycerophosphocholine[OR=4.23(2.51-7.12),P=6.35×10^(-8)]and 1-arachidonoylglycerophosphoethanolamine 4[OR=3.99(1.17-13.54),P=0.027]were positively causally associated with colorectal cancer,and we also found a negative causal relationship between Tyrosine[OR=0.08(0.01-0.63),P=0.014],Urate[OR=0.25(0.10-0.62),P=0.003],N-acetylglycine[0.73(0.54-0.98),P=0.033],X-12092[OR=0.89(0.81-0.99),P=0.028],Succinylcarnitine[OR=0.48(0.27-0.84),P=0.09]with colorectal cancer.A series of sensitivity analyses were performed to confirm the rigidity of the results.CONCLUSION This study showed a causal relationship between 10 blood metabolites and colorectal cancer,of which 5 blood metabolites were found to be causal for the development of colorectal cancer and were confirmed as risk factors.The other five blood metabolites are protective factors.

Novel P-doping-tuned Pd nanoflowers/S,N-GQDs photo-electrocatalyst for high-efficient ethylene glycol oxidation

Traditional photo-electcatalyst structures of small noble metal nanoparticles assembling into large-scale photoactive semiconductors still suffer from agglomeration of noble metal nanoparticles,insufficient charge transfer,undesirable photoresponse ability that restricted the photo-electrocatalytic performance.To this end,a novel design strategy is proposed in this work,namely integrating small-scale photoactive materials(doped graphene quantum dots,S,N-GQDs)with large-sized noble metal(Pd P)nanoflowers to form novel photo-electrocatalysts for high-efficient alcohol oxidation reaction.As expected,superior electrocatalytic performance of Pd P/S,N-GQDs for ethylene glycol oxidation is acquired,thanks to the nanoflower structure with larger specific surface area and abundant active sites.Furthermore,nonmetal P are demonstrated,especially optimizing the adsorption strength,enhancing the interfacial contact,reducing metal agglomeration,ensuring uniform and efficient doping of S,N-GQDs,and ultimately significantly boost the catalytic activity of photo-electrocatalysts.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on erectile function in Chinese CP/CPPS patients

This study aimed to investigate the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic on erectile function in Chinese patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS).A retrospective study was conducted on 657 CP/CPPS patients who visited The Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University(Changsha,China)from November 2018 to November 2022.Patients were divided into two groups based on the timeline before and after the COVID-19 outbreak in China.The severity of CP/CPPS,penile erection status,anxiety,and depression was evaluated using the National Institutes of Health-Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index(NIH-CPSI),International Index of Erectile Function-5(IIEF-5),Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),and Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)scales,respectively.Compared with patients before the COVID-19 outbreak,more CP/CPPS patients developed severe erectile dysfunction(ED)due to depression and anxiety caused by the pandemic.After developing moderateto-severe ED,mild and moderate-to-severe CP/CPPS patients exhibited more apparent symptoms of anxiety and depression(P<0.001 and P=0.001,respectively),forming a vicious cycle.The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the psychological status of CP/CPPS patients,exacerbating their clinical symptoms and complicating ED.The exacerbation of clinical symptoms further worsens the anxiety and depression status of patients,forming a vicious cycle.During the COVID-19 pandemic,paying more attention to the mental health of CP/CPPS patients,strengthening psychological interventions,and achieving better treatment outcomes are necessary.

SENP3 Promotes Mantle Cell Lymphoma Development through Regulating Wnt10a Expression

Objective SUMO-specific protease 3(SENP3),a member of the SUMO-specific protease family,reverses the SUMOylation of SUMO-2/3 conjugates.Dysregulation of SENP3 has been proven to be involved in the development of various tumors.However,its role in mantle cell lymphoma(MCL),a highly aggressive lymphoma,remains unclear.This study was aimed to elucidate the effect of SENP3 in MCL.Methods The expression of SENP3 in MCL cells and tissue samples was detected by RT-qPCR,Western blotting or immunohistochemistry.MCL cells with stable SENP3 knockdown were constructed using short hairpin RNAs.Cell proliferation was assessed by CCK-8 assay,and cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry.mRNA sequencing(mRNA-seq)was used to investigate the underlying mechanism of SENP3 knockdown on MCL development.A xenograft nude mouse model was established to evaluate the effect of SENP3 on MCL growth in vivo.Results SENP3 was upregulated in MCL patient samples and cells.Knockdown of SENP3 in MCL cells inhibited cell proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis.Meanwhile,the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and the expression of Wnt10a were suppressed after SENP3 knockdown.Furthermore,the growth of MCL cells in vivo was significantly inhibited after SENP3 knockdown in a xenograft nude mouse model.Conclusion SENP3 participants in the development of MCL and may serve as a therapeutic target for MCL.

Sexual,physical and overall adverse effects in patients treated with 5a-reductase inhibitors:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Postfinasteride syndrome(PFS)is a term coined to characterize a constellation of reported undesirable sexual,physical,and neuropsychiatric side effects.In the present study,we conducted the meta-analysis to demonstrate whether the use of 5α-reductase inhibitors(5ARIs)increases the risk of PFS-like adverse effects.A search of studies published until May 10,2020,was performed using PubMed,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library.We included randomized controlled trials with at least one comparison between male patients receiving 5ARIs versus placebo for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)or androgenetic alopecia(AGA),and identified 34 studies from 28 articles that met our eligibility criteria.In the random-effects model,the overall use of 5ARIs exhibited a 1.87-fold risk of PFS-like adverse effects during the trial(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.64-2.14).Regarding specific types of adverse effects,the use of 5ARIs had a 1.89-fold risk of sexual adverse effects(95%CI:1.74-2.05)and was associated with an increased risk of physical adverse effects(relative risk[RR]:1.31,95%CI:0.80-2.15),albeit without statistical significance.This meta-analysis helped to better define the adverse effects caused by 5ARIs.We concluded that the overall use of 5ARIs significantly increased the risk of PFS-like adverse effects in men with AGA or BPH during treatment.Enhanced awareness of and education on the PFS-like adverse effects are necessary for clinicians.

提出一种融合策略来提高随机森林(RF)、k近邻(KNN)、梯度提升决策树(GBDT)和极端梯度提升(XGBoost)模型预测块体金属玻璃(BMGs)形成能力(GFA)的准确性。该策略使用训练好的卷积神经网络(CNN)模型提取来特征向量,且合金的成分信息是唯一的输入变量,不需要通过实验获得其他物理和化学特性。此外,通过网格搜索方法和k折交叉验证对RF、KNN、GBDT和XGBoost模型的超参数进行了优化。结果表明,本文作者提出的4种融合模型CNN-RF、CNN-KNN、CNN-GBDT和CNN-XGBoost比上述4种机器学习模型(即RF、KNN、GBDT和XGBoost模型)预测精度更高,这表明训练好的CNN模型比人工特征提取更为高效。此外,与已报道的机器学习模型和GFA判据相比,本文作者提出的融合模型可以更精准地预测金属玻璃的形成能力。
