Faceted interfaces: a key feature to quantitative understanding of transformation morphology

Faceted interfaces are a typical key feature of the morphology of many microstructures generated from solid-state phase transformations.Interpretation,prediction and simulation of this faceted morphology remain a challenge,especially for systems where irrational orientation relationships(ORs)between two phases and irrational interface orientations(IOs)are preferred.In terms of structural singularities,this work suggests an integrated framework,which possibly encompasses all candidates of faceted interfaces.The structural singularities are identified from a matching pattern,a dislocation structure and/or a ledge structure.The resultant singular interfaces have discrete IOs,described with low-index g’s(rational orientations)and/orΔg’s(either rational or irrational orientations).Various existing models are grouped according to their determined results regarding the OR and IO,and the links between the models are clarified in the integrated framework.Elimination of defect types as far as possible in a dominant singular interface often exerts a central restriction on the OR.An irrational IO is usually due to the elimination of dislocations in one direction,i.e.,an O-line interface.Analytical methods using both three-dimensional and two-dimensional models for quantitative determinations of O-line interfaces are reviewed,and a detailed example showing the calculation for an irrational interface is given.The association between structural singularities and local energy minima is verified by atomistic calculations of interfacial energies in fcc/bcc alloys where it is found that the calculated equilibrium cross-sections are in a good agreement with observations from selected alloys.

45例恐人症的临床研究

目的探讨恐人症的分类归属及病因机制。方法对"害怕见人"或"害怕与人对视"为主诉的在山东省精神卫生中心门诊就诊的病例应用自我设计问卷进行调查,共收集病例资料45例。结果 45例中97.7%症状与性爱内容有关,57.7%感自我眼光伤人;80%有敏感性关系观念,100%有认知障碍及自卑抑郁情绪,48.8%伴有强迫观念行为;100%恐惧对象具有选择性及泛化性,88.8%恐惧对象为熟悉的人。60%有发病精神诱因,84.4%家庭不和,86.6%经常遭受打骂,84.4%家庭管教严厉,100%对自己要求严,91.1%有抑郁气质,73.3%有不安全感。结论恐人症与社交恐怖症有明显不同,建议将恐人症作为恐怖症的一个特殊独立类型,便于临床诊治和观察研究。认为恐人症是生物、社会和心理等病因综合作用所致,与气质、性格、家庭管教严厉、自我要求严、社会环境影响及童年少时创伤经历有关;认为其形成机制是"自我"与性本能动机的矛盾冲突,各种症状是"精神防御机制"的表现,目的在于不同程度地满足性本能欲望,维护"超我"的完美。

阴极保护是抑制管道电化学腐蚀的重要手段,其电位的分布情况直接影响着管道保护效果。以西北某成品油输油站为例,利用COMSOL Multiphysics仿真软件研究管道阴极保护电位的分布规律,分析确定了影响管道阴极保护电位分布的主要因素是辅助阳极的埋设位置和输出电流值;并且通过电化学试验分析得到了L360管线钢在该成品油输油站模拟土壤溶液的最佳保护电位。然后以阳极数量、阳极敷设位置和阳极输出电流值为优化目标建立目标函数,利用模拟退火算法搜索出最佳阳极数量,最佳阳极位置和最佳阳极输出电流值。最后根据管道实际保护电位验证了优化方案的可行性,结果证明该方法对阴极保护设计有一定的参考价值。

BACKGROUND Primary hepatic carcinoma(PHC)has an insidious onset and is usually diagnosed in the middle and late stages.Although transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)is the preferred option for treating middle-and advanced-stage PHC,it has limited efficacy in killing tumor cells and poor long-term efficacy.TACE plus percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy(PMCT)is more effective than interventional therapy alone and can improve survival time.However,there are few reports on the effects of TACE and PMCT on serum marker levels and the prognosis of patients with advanced PHC.AIM To investigate the effect of PMCT+TACE on serum tumor markers and the prognosis of middle-late PHC.METHODS This retrospective study included 150 patients with middle-late PHC admitted to Zhongshan People’s Hospital between March 2018 and February 2021.Patients were divided into a single group(treated with TACE,n=75)and a combined group(treated with TACE+PMCT,n=75).Before and after treatment,the clinical efficacy and serum tumor marker levels[carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9),alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)]of both groups were observed.The 1-year survival rates and prognostic factors of the two groups were analyzed.RESULTS The combined group had 21 and 35 cases of complete remission(CR)and partial remission(PR),respectively.The single group had 13 and 25 cases of CR and PR,decreased,with the decrease in the combined group being more significant(P<0.05).The 1-year survival rate of the combined group(80.00%)was higher than that of the single group(60.00%)(P<0.05).The average survival time within 1 year in the combined group was 299.38±61.13 d,longer than that in the single group(214.41±72.97 d,P<0.05).COX analysis revealed that tumor diameter,tumor number,and the treatment method were prognostic factors for patients with middle-late PHC(P<0.05).CONCLUSION TACE+PMCT is effective in treating patients with mid-late PHC.It reduces the levels of tumor markers,prolongs survival,and improves prognosis.

Effects of Conservation Tillage on Crop Yield: a Case Study in the Part of Typical Ecological Zones in China

To evaluate the effects of different conservation tillage modes on crop yield in various ecological regions, we interviewed peasant households in the Northeast China Plain, North China Plain, Chengdu Plain, and Northwest China Oasis, China, to analyze the influencing factors of the tillage methods on crop yield. An index set was determined from seven yield parameters based on expert consultation and relevant literature. A comprehensive evaluation of conservation tillage methods in the various ecological regions was carried out using fuzzy theory. The approaches with the highest scores were identified for each region： wide and narrow rotation planting with high stubble standing retention in the Northeast China Plain; seeding after rotary tilled of wheat under corn straw mulching and no-tillage seeding of corn and other crops under wheat straw mulching in the North China Plain; no tillage with high stubble retention in the Northwest China Oasis; and no-tillage seeding of wheat and other crops under rice straw mulching in Chengdu Plain. These research data provide a useful guide for the selection of conservation tillage methods for optimum yields in different regions of China.

AIM:To evaluate the relationship of overweight and obesity with retinal and choroidal thickness in adults without ocular symptoms by swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT).METHODS:According to the body mass index(BMI)results,the adults enrolled in the cross-sectional study were divided into the normal group(18.50≤BMI<25.00 kg/m^(2)),the overweight group(25.00≤BMI<30.00 kg/m^(2)),and the obesity group(BMI≥30.00 kg/m^(2)).The one-way ANOVA and the Chi-square test were used for comparisons.Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between the measured variables.RESULTS:This research covered the left eyes of 3 groups of 434 age-and sex-matched subjects each:normal,overweight,and obesity.The mean BMI was 22.20±1.67,26.82±1.38,and 32.21±2.35 kg/m^(2) in normal,overweight and obesity groups,respectively.The choroid was significantly thinner in both the overweight and obesity groups compared to the normal group(P<0.05 for all),while the retinal thickness of the three groups did not differ significantly.Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that BMI was significantly negatively correlated with choroidal thickness,but no significant correlation was observed between BMI and retinal thickness.CONCLUSION:Choroidal thickness is decreased in people with overweight or obesity.Research on changes in choroidal thickness contributes to the understanding of the mechanisms of certain ocular disorders in overweight and obese adults.

Microstructures of Cu-4.7Sn(%) alloys prepared by two-phase zone continuous casting(TZCC)technology contain large columnar grains and small grains.A compound grain structure,composed of a large columnar grain and at least one small grain within it,is observed and called as grain-covered grains(GCGs).Distribution of small grains,their numbers and sizes as well as numbers and sizes of columnar grains were characterized quantitatively by metallographic microscope.Back propagation(BP) artificial neural network was employed to build a model to predict microstructures produced by different processing parameters.Inputs of the model are five processing parameters,which are temperatures of melt,mold and cooling water,speed of TZCC,and cooling distance.Outputs of the model are nine microstructure quantities,which are numbers of small grains within columnar grains,at the boundaries of the columnar grains,or at the surface of the alloy,the maximum and the minimum numbers of small grains within a columnar grain,numbers of columnar grains with or without small grains,and sizes of small grains and columnar grains.The model yields precise prediction,which lays foundation for controlling microstructures of alloys prepared by TZCC.
