Effective in situ remediation of Cr（VI） in groundwater requires the successful delivery of reactive iron particles to the subsurface. Fe 0 nanoparticles （20–110 nm diameter） supported on silica fume were synthesized by borohydride reduction of an aqueous iron salt in the presence of a support material. The experimental result showed that attachment of Fe 0 nanoparticles on the commercial available sub-micrometer silica fume prevented them from aggregation while maintaining the particle reactivity. When the Fe 0 concentration was 0.4 g/L, 88.00% of 40 mg/L Cr（VI） was removed by silica fume-supported Fe 0 nanoparticles （SF-Fe 0 ） in 120 min, 22.55% higher than unsupported Fe 0 . Furthermore, transport experiments confirmed that almost all unsupported Fe 0 was retained, whereas 51.50% and 38.29% of SF-Fe 0 were eluted from the vertical and horizontal sand column, respectively. Additionally, the effect of solution ionic strength on the transport ability of SF-Fe 0 was evaluated. The result showed that increase in the salt concentration led to a decrease in the mobility and also the divalent ion Ca 2＋ had a greater effect than that of monovalent ion Na ＋ .

The interfacial binding covalent bond density (CBD) and the local environmental total bond order (LTBO) of the Ni/Ni3Alinterface with different lattice misfits (δ) were calculated by using first-principles discrete variation Xα method. It was foundthat the effects of lattice misfits on the electronic structures of incoherent Ni/Ni3Al interface were very obvious. On one hand,less than -0.6% negative lattice misfit can promote the binding strength of γ/γ′ interface. On the other hand, the totalbonding strength of γ/γ′ interface decreases with increasing δ. Therefore, the magnitude and sign of lattice misfit must becarefully controlled for balancing the high temperature creep strength of Ni-base single crystal superalloy and the structuralstability of γ/γ′interface when one designs a new Ni-base single crystal superalloy.

Nowadays,tremendous researches have been focused on the core-shell lipid-polymer nanoparticles(LPNs) due to the advantages of both liposomes and polymer *** this work,LPNs were applied to encapsulate brinzolamide(Brz-LPNs) for achieving sustained drug release,improving drug corneal permeation and enhancing drug topical therapeutic *** structure of Brz-LPNs was composed of poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid(PLGA) nanocore which encapsulated Brz(Brz-NPs) and lipid shell around the ***-LPNs were prepared by a modified thin-film dispersion *** the parameters optimization of Brz-LPNs,optimal Brz-LPNs showed an average particle size of151.23±1.64 nm with a high encapsulation efficiency(EE) of 86.7%±2.28%.The core-shell structure of Brz-LPNs were confirmed by transmission electronic microscopy(TEM).Fourier transformed infrared spectra(FTIR) analysis proved that Brz was successfully entrapped into ***-LPNs exhibited obvious sustained release of Brz,compared with AZOPT^■ and ***,the corneal accumulative permeability of Brz-LPNs significantly increased compared to the commercial available formulation(AZOPT^■) in ***,Brz-LPNs(1 mg/mL Brz) showed a more sustained and effective intraocular pressure(IOP) reduction than Brz-LPs(1 mg/mL) and AZOPT^■(10 mg/mL Brz) in *** conclusion,Brz-LPNs,as promising ocular drug delivery systems,are well worth developing in the future for glaucoma treatment.

Denitrification of nitrate in groundwater using iron nanoparticles has received increasing interest in recent *** order to fabricate iron nanoparticles with homoge-neously spherical shape and narrow size distribution,a simple and“green”method was developed to synthesize iron *** conventional microemulsion methods were modified by applying Span 80 and Tween 60 as mixed *** maximum content of water in the Water-in-oil(W/O)microemulsion and its appropriate forming conditions were found,and then the microemulsion system consisting of saturated Fe^(2+)solution was used to synthesizeα-Fe ultrafine particles by redox *** nanoparticles were characterized by using powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the average diameter of the particle is about 80-90 *** chemical activity of the obtained iron nanoparticles was studied by the denitrification experiment of *** results show that under the experimental conditions,iron removed most of the 80 mg/L nitrate within 30 *** mass balance of nitrate reduction with nanoscale Fe indicates that endproducts are mainly *** possible reaction pathways for nitrate reduction by nanoscale iron particles have been proposed in this work.

Hypertension is the leading risk factor for death and disability, and hypertensive patients always need long-term oral antihypertensive drugs. Some bioactive peptides that extracted from animals or plants have shown excellent advantages on antihypertension. However, the oral delivery of these peptides is always failure on account of instability and poor absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Herein, we developed a core-shell lipid-polymeric nanoparticle for oral delivery of a highly efficient antihypertensive peptide KY5(KY5-CSs). KY5-CSs had a particle size of 216.7 ± 2.5 nm, with a narrow PDI of 0.07 ± *** zeta potential was-4.1 ± 0.1 m V. It exhibited good stability in 4 ℃ and possessed a controlled release behavior in gastrointestinal tract. The cellular uptake study proved that the lipid shell imparted unique capability of permeation across the mucus layer and internalization by Caco-2/HT-29 cells. In addition, KY5-CSs enhanced in situ intestinal absorption in SD rats. The pharmacokinetic studies and antihypertensive efficacy showed a superior oral absorption and antihypertensive effect of KY5-CSs than KY5-NPs. In conclusion, the core-shell lipid-polymeric nanoparticles will provide attractive potential for oral delivery of antihypertensive peptides.

Basal-plane stacking-fault energies of Mg alloys: A first-principles study of metallic alloying effects

Generalized stacking-fault energies （GSFEs） of basal-plane stacking faults 11 and 12 in Mg alloys have been studied based on first-principles calculations, where 43 alloying elements were considered. It is found that the most contributing features of alloying elements to GSFEs are bulk modulus, equilibrium volume, binding energy, atomic radius and ionization energy. Both bulk modulus and ionization energy exhibit positive relationships with GSFEs, and the others show opposite relationships. Multiple regressions have been performed to offer a quantitative prediction for basal-plane GSFEs in Mg-X systems. GSFEs, alloying effects of elements and the prediction model established within this work may provide guidelines for new Mg alloys design with better ductility.

Catalytic reduction of nitrate in groundwater by sodium formate over the catalyst was ***-Cu/c-Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by impregnation and charac-terized by brunauer-emmett-teller(BET),inductive coupled plasma(ICP),X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX).It was found that total nitrogen was effectively removed from the nitrate solution(100 mg/L)and the removal efficiency was 87%.The catalytic activity was affected by pH,catalyst amount used,concentration of sodium formate,and initial concentration of *** sodium formate was used as reductant,precise control in the initial pH was ***-sively high or low initial pH(7.0 or 3.0)reduced catalytic *** initial pH of 4.5,catalytic activity was enhanced by reducing the amount of catalyst,while concentrations of sodium formate increased with a considerable decrease in N2 *** which case,catalytic reduction followed the first order kinetics.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is a serious and highly invasive epithelial malignancy that is closely associated with Epstein‒Barr virus(EBV).Due to the lack of therapeutic vaccines for NPC,we selected EBV latent membrane protein 2(LMP2)as a preferable targeting antigen to develop a lipid-based LMP2-mRNA(mLMP2)***-length mLMP2 expressing LMP2 was first synthesized using an in vitro transcription method and then encapsulated into(2,3-dioleacyl propyl)trimethylammonium chloride(DOTAP)-based cationic liposomes to obtain the mRNA vaccine(LPX-mLMP2).The cell assays showed that the antigenpresenting cells were capable of highly efficient uptake of LPX-mLMP2 and expression of ***2 could subsequently be presented to form the peptide-major histocompatibility complex(pMHC).Furthermore,LPX-mLMP2 could accumulate in the spleen,express antigens,promote the maturation of dendritic cells and stimulate antigen-specific T-cell responses in *** dramatically inhibited the tumor growth of the LMP2-expressing tumor model after three doses of ***,the proliferation of antigen-specific T cells in the tumor site made a good sign for the promise of mRNA vaccines in virus-induced ***,we provided a newly developed antigen-encoding mRNA vaccine with advantages against *** also demonstrated that mRNA vaccines are attractive candidates for cancer immunotherapy.
