Background:Gallbladder cancer(GBC)was once considered a contraindication for laparoscopic surgery,but it is becoming more common to use laparoscopic surgery for GBC *** aim of this study was to analyze the long-and short-term outcomes of patients with more advanced T-staged GBC treated with curative intent as defined by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network(NCCN)after laparoscopic resection(LR)versus open resection(OR).Methods:A multicenter database was used to select consecutive GBC patients treated with curative-intent resection as defined by the NCCN between 2016 and *** patients were divided into the LR group and the OR *** score matching(PSM)was used to eliminate selection *** endpoints were overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and short-term *** factors that were independently associated with OS and PFS were ***:Of 626 GBC patients treated with curative-intent resection,after PSM,51 patients were in the LR group and 153 patients were in the OR *** LR group had more patients who were suitable to receive adjuvant chemotherapy(AC),a longer operation time,more harvested lymph nodes,and a lower overall morbidity *** rates of OS and PFS were not significantly different between the two *** was independently associated with better OS and ***:The overall morbidity of GBC patients after LR was lower,but the long-term outcomes between LR and OR were not significantly *** GBC patients treated with LR were more likely to receive AC,and the use of AC after curative-intent resection of GBC helped achieve better long-term survival outcomes.

Surgical management of liver diseases invading the hepatocaval confluence based on IH classification: The surgical guideline in our center

AIM To investigate the short-term outcomes and risk factors indicating postoperative death of patients with lesions adjacent to the hepatocaval *** We retrospectively analyzed 54 consecutive patients who underwent hepatectomy combined with inferior vena cava(IVC)and/or hepatic vein reconstruction(HVR)from January 2012 to January 2016 at our liver surgery *** patients were divided into5 groups according to the range of IVC and hepatic vein *** patient details,indications for surgery,operative techniques,intra-and postoperative outcomes were compared among the 5 *** and multivariate analyses were performed to explore factors predictive of overall operative *** IVC replacement was carried out in 37(68.5%)patients and HVR in 17(31.5%)*** I2H2 had the longest operative blood loss,operative duration and overall liver ischemic time(all,p<0.05).Three patients of Type I3H1 with totally occluded IVC did not need IVC *** postoperative morbidity rate was40.7%(22 patients)and the operative mortality rate was 16.7%(9 patients).Factors predictive of operative death included IVC replacement(p=0.048),duration of liver ischemia(p=0.005)and preoperative liver function being Child-pugh B(p=0.025). CONCLUSION IVC replacement,duration of liver ischemia and preoperative poor liver function were risk factors predictive of postoperative *** should be cautious about IVC replacement,especially in Type *** Type I3H1,it was unnecessary to replace IVC when the collateral circulation was established.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF HEMODYNAMICS IN THE HOST BLOOD VESSEL AND MICROVASCULAR NETWORK GENERATED FROM TUMOR-INDUCED ANGIOGENESIS

Numerical simulation of hemodynamics under the combined effects of both the host blood vessel and the microvascular network, which is based on a 2-D tumor inside and outside vascular network generated from a discrete mathematical model of tumor-induced angiogenesis, is performed systemically. And a ＂microvascular network-- transport across microvascular network--flow in interstitium＂ model is developed to study the flow in solid tumor. Simulations are carried out to examine the effects of the variations of the inlet Reynolds number in the host blood vessel, the hydraulic conductivity of the microvascular wall, and interstitial hydraulic conductivity coefficient on the fluid flow in tumor microcirculation. The results are consistent with data obtained in terms of physiology. These results may provide some theoretical references and the bases for further clinical experimental research.

3D eikonal equation is a partial differential equation for the calculation of first-arrival traveltimes and has been widely applied in many scopes such as ray tracing,source localization,reflection migration,seismic monitoring and tomographic *** recent years,many advanced methods have been developed to solve the 3D eikonal equation in heterogeneous ***,there are still challenges for the stable and accurate calculation of first-arrival traveltimes in 3D strongly inhomogeneous *** this paper,we propose an adaptive finite-difference(AFD)method to numerically solve the 3D eikonal *** novel method makes full use of the advantages of different local operators characterizing different seismic wave types to calculate factors and traveltimes,and then the most accurate factor and traveltime are adaptively selected for the convergent updating based on the Fermat *** with global fast sweeping describing seismic waves propagating along eight directions in 3D media,our novel method can achieve the robust calculation of first-arrival traveltimes with high precision at grid points either near source point or far away from source point even in a velocity model with large and sharp *** numerical examples show the good performance of the AFD method,which will be beneficial to many scientific applications.

Ancient dormant virus remnant ERVW-1 drives ferroptosis via degradation of GPX4 and SLC3A2 in schizophrenia

Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs)are remnants of retroviral infections in human germline cells from millions of years *** these,ERVW-1(also known as HERV-W-ENV,ERVWE1,or ENVW)encodes the envelope protein of the HERV-W family,which contributes to the pathophysiology of ***,neuropathological studies have revealed cell death and disruption of iron homeostasis in the brains of individuals with ***,our bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed genes in the human prefrontal cortex RNA microarray dataset(GSE53987)were mainly related to ferroptosis and its associated *** data demonstrated significantly lower expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes,particularly Glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and solute carrier family 3 member 2(SLC3A2),in schizophrenia patients compared to normal *** in-depth analyses revealed a significant negative correlation between ERVW-1 expression and the levels of GPX4/SLC3A2 in *** indicated that ERVW-1 increased iron levels,malondialdehyde(MDA),and transferrin receptor protein 1(TFR1)expression while decreasing glutathione(GSH)levels and triggering the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential,suggesting that ERVW-1 can induce *** research has shown that ERVW-1 reduced the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2 by inhibiting their promoter ***,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),the ferroptosis inhibitor,reversed the iron accumulation and mitochondrial membrane potential loss,as well as restored the expressions of ferroptosis markers GSH,MDA,and TFR1 induced by *** conclusion,ERVW-1 could promote ferroptosis by downregulating the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2,revealing a novel mechanism by which ERVW-1 contributes to neuronal cell death in schizophrenia.

Phase field modeling of grain stability of nanocrystalline alloys by explicitly incorporating mismatch strain

Ab st ra ct Nanocrystalline materials exhibit unique properties due to their extremely high grain boundary(GB) ***,this high-density characteristic induces grain coarsening at elevated temperatures,thereby limiting the widespread application of nanocrystalline *** experimental observations revealed that GB segregation and second-phase pinning effectively hinder GB migration,thereby improving the stability of nanocry stalline *** this study,a mouified phase-field model that integrates mismatch strain,solute segregation and precipitation was developed to evaluate the influence of lattice misfit on the thermal stability of nanocrystalline *** simulation results indicated that introducing a suitable mismatch strain can effectively enhance the microstructural stability of nanocrystalline *** synergizing precipitation with an appropriate lattice misfit,the formation of second-phase particles in the bulk grains can be suppressed,thereby facilitating solute segregation/precipitation at the *** concentrated solute segregation and precipitation at the GBs effectively hinders grain migration,thereby preventing grain *** findings provide a new perspective on the design and regulation of nanocrystalline alloys with enhanced thermal stability.

Vendor evaluation and selection is one of the most important issues in manufacturing management. It is a multi-criteria decision problem including various factors. Traditional methods have many shortcomings. Fuzzy AHP model is established to solve this problem. A general evaluation method is provided and steps are presented. As a case study,the model is implemented in an electro-mechanical product company. And a detailed example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of this approach.

Nowadays,lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)play a crucial role in modern society in the aspect of portable electronic devices and large-scale smart ***,the current performance of lithium-ion batteries has been unable to meet the growing expectations of society and scientific ***,we have synthetically investigated availability of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer as anode based on DFT for LIBs *** findings have demonstrated that 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer is a semiconductor with a small band gap of 0.2 eV,which suggest that the electronic property of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer would take place an evident shift from semiconductor property to metallic property after Li ***,we checked the stability of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer and investigated the viability of exfoliation from bulk multilayer Ni-TABQ to form 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer in the light of exfoliation energy and binding *** continuously studied electrochemical properties of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer with respect of theoretical specific capacity,Li-ion diffusion barriers and open-circuit *** the charging process,2D Ni-TABQ monolayer can achieve a high specific capacity of 722 m Ah/g with an open-circuit voltage range from 1.12 V to 0.22 *** aforementioned results make the 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer a promising anode for LIBs.
