2D–3D dual carbon layer confined ultrasmall VN nanoparticles for improving lithium-ion storage in hybrid capacitors

lithium-ion capacitors(liCs) of achieving high power and energy density have garnered significant attention. However, the kinetics unbalance between anode and cathode can impede the application of liCs. Vanadium nitride(VN) with a high theoretical specific capacity(~ 1200 m Ah·g^(-1)) is a better pseudocapacitive anode to match the response of cathode in liCs. However, the insertion/extraction of li-ions in VN's operation results in significant volume expansion. Herein, the VN/N-r GO-5composite that three-dimentional(3D) dicyandiamidederived-carbon(DDC) tightly wrapped VN quantum dots(VN QDTs) on two-dimentional(2D) reduced graphene oxid(r GO) was prepared by a facile strategy. The VN QDTs can reduce ion diffusion length and improve charge transfer kinetics. The 2D r GO as a template provides support for nanoparticle dispersion and improves electrical conductivity. The 3D DDC tightly encapsulated with VN QDTs mitigates agglomeration of VN particles as well as volume expansion. Correspondingly, the liCs with VN/Nr GO-5 composite as anode and activated carbon(AC) as cathode were fabricated, which exhibits a high energy density and power density. Such strategy provides a perspective for improving the electrochemical properties of liC anode materials by suppressing volume expansion and enhancing conductivity.

Influence of filler characteristics on particle removal in fluid catalytic cracking slurry under an alternating electric field

The characteristics of the packing material under an alternating electric field are an important factor in the removal of FCCS *** this study,the electric field distribution of a separation unit consisting of packed spheres under an alternating electric field is simulated,and the movement mechanism of catalyst particles is ***"effective contact point"model is derived to predict the adsorption of filler contact points on catalyst particles under the alternating electric field,and the model is validated by simulations and *** numerical calculation and experimental results indicate that the electrical properties of the filler spheres,the filler angleθ,and the frequency f of the alternating electric field affect the adsorption of catalyst *** the frequency of the electric field increases,the particle removal efficiency of the high-conductivity filler(silicon carbide)increases and then settles,and the separation efficiency of the low-conductivity filler(glass,zirconia)is not sensitive to the change in electric field frequency.

Catalytic anode surface enabling in situ polymerization of gel polymer electrolyte for stable li metal batteries

Employing quasi-solid-state gel polymer electrolyte(GPE)instead of the liquid counterpart has been regarded as a promising strategy for improving the electrochemical performance of li metal ***,the poor and uneven interfacial contact between li metal anode and GPE could cause large interfacial resistance and electrochemical li stripping/plating inhomogeneity,deteriorating the electrochemical ***,we proposed that the functional component of composite anode could work as the catalyst to promote the in situ polymerization reaction,and we experimentally realized the integration of polymerized-dioxolane electrolyte and li/li_(22)Sn_(5)/liF composite electrode with low interfacial resistance and good stability by in situ catalyzation ***,the reaction kinetics and stability of metallic li anode were significantly *** a demonstration,symmetric cell using such a GPE-li/li_(22)Sn_(5)/liF integration achieved stable cycling beyond 250 cycles with small potential hysteresis of 25 mV at 1 mA·cm^(−2)and 1 mAh·cm^(−2),far outperforming the counterpart regular GPE on pure *** with liNi0.5Co0.3Mn0.2O2,the full cell with the GPE-li/li_(22)Sn_(5)/liF integration maintained 85.7%of the original capacity after 100 cycles at 0.5 C(1 C=200 mA·g^(−1)).Our research provides a promising strategy for reducing the resistance between GPE and li metal anode,and realizes li metal batteries with enhance electrochemical performance.

Transition metal sulfide(TMS)anodes exhibit the characteristics of phase stability and high capacity for lithium/sodium-ion batteries(liBs/SIBs).However,the TMS anodes often suffer from poor electronic conductivity,low ionic diffusion and large volume expansion during li/Na-ion intercalation significantly impairing the li/Na-storage ***,a long chain heterostructure composed of the Co_(9)S_(8) and SnS are first reported,which can generate rich phase interfaces,and small crystal *** unique structure can facilitate the properties of reactivity,conductivity and ionic *** addition,the heterostructure surface is modified by the N-doped carbon(N-DC@(CoSn)S),successfully improving the structural *** synergistic effects of Co_(9)S_(8)/SnS heterostructure and coated carbon layer effectively increase the capacity and cycling *** N-DC@(CoSn)S anode delivers enhanced high specific capacities of 820.6 mAh·g^(−1) at 1.0 A·g^(–1) after 500 cycles for liBs and 339.2 mAh·g^(–1)at 0.5 A·g^(–1) after 1000 cycles for SIBs,*** work is expected to provide a material design idea for preparing liBs/SIBs with high capacity and long cycling life.

SUPER WOMAN 2(SPW2)maintains organ identity in spikelets by inhibiting the expression of floral homeotic genes OsMADS3,OsMADS58,OsMADS13,and DROOPING LEAF

Flower organ identity in rice is mainly determined by the A-,B-,C-and E-class genes,with the majority encoding MADS-box transcription ***,few studies have investigated how the expression of these floral organ identity genes is regulated during flower *** this study,we identified a gene named SUPER WOMAN 2(SPW2),which is necessary for spikelet/floret development in rice by participating in the regulation of the expression of pistil identity genes such as OsMADS3,OsMADS13,OsMADS58 and *** the spw2 mutant,ectopic stigma/ovary-like tissues were observed in the non-pistil organs,including sterile lemma,lemma,palea,lodicule,and stamen,suggesting that the identities of these organs were severely affected by mutations in ***2 was shown to encode a plant-specific EMF1-like protein that is involved in H3K27me3 modification as an important component of the PRC2 *** analysis showed that the SPW2 mutation led to the ectopic expression of OsMADS3,OsMADS13,OsMADS58,and DL in non-pistil organs of the *** ChIP-qPCR results showed significant reductions in the levels of H3K27me3 modification on the chromatin of these ***,we demonstrated that SPW2 can mediate the process of H3K27me3 modification of pistil-related genes to regulate their expression in non-pistil organs of spikelets in *** results of this study expand our understanding of the molecular mechanism by which SPW2 regulates floral organ identity genes through epigenetic regulation.

Injectable“cocktail”hydrogel with dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic effect

The combination of the first-line standard chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin hydrochloride(DOX)and the molecular-targeted drug Herceptin(HCT)has emerged as a promising strategy for human epidermal growth receptor 2(HER-2)overexpressing breast cancer ***,insufficient drug accumulation and severe cardiotoxicity are two major challenges that limit its clinical ***,an in situ forming gold nanorods(AuNRs)-sodium alginate(ALG)hybrid hydrogel encapsulating DOX and HCT was engineered for tumor synergistic therapy involving injectable,dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic *** photothermal agent AuNRs,anticancer drug DOX,and anticancer antibody HCT were mixed in ALG solution,and after injection,the soluble ALG was quickly transformed into a hydrogel in the presence of Ca^(2+)in the ***,the hybrid hydrogel exhibits an extremely high photothermal conversion efficiency of 70%under 808 nm laser *** thermal effect can also provide photothermal stimulation to trigger the drug release from the gel *** addition,the drug release rate and the releasing degree are also sensitive to the *** vitro studies demonstrated that the PEI-AuNR/DOX/HCT/ALG hydrogel has facilitated the therapeutic efficiency of each payload and demonstrated a strong synergistic killing effect on SK-BR-3 *** vivo imaging results showed that the local drug delivery system can effectively reduce the nonspecific distribution in normal tissues and increase drug concentration at tumor *** proposed hydrogel system shows significant clinical implications by easily introducing a sustainable photothermal therapy and a potential universal carrier for the local delivery of multiple drugs to overcome the challenges faced in HER-2 overexpressing cancer therapy.

Identification of Novel Stress-responsive Transcription Factor Genes in Rice by cDNA Array Analysis

Numerous studies have shown that array of transcription factors has a role in regulating plant responses to environmental stresses. Only a small portion of them however, have been Identified or characterized. More than 2 300 putative transcription factors were predicted In the rice genome and more than half of them were supported by expressed sequences. With an attempt to Identify novel transcription factors involved in the stress responses, a cDNA array containing 753 putative rice transcription factors was generated to analyze the transcript profiles of these genes under drought and salinity stresses and absclsic acid treatment at seedling stage of rice. About 80% of these transcription factors showed detectable levels of transcript in seedling leaves. A total of 18 up-regulated transcription factors and 29 down-regulated transcription factors were detected with the folds of changes from 2.0 to 20.5 in at least one stress treatment. Most of these stress-responsive genes have not been reported and the expression patterns for five genes under stress conditions were further analyzed by RNA gel blot analysis. These novel stress-responsive transcription factors provide new opportunities to study the regulation of gene expression In plants under stress conditions.

Effects of N Forms and Rates on Vegetable Growth and Nitrate Accumulation

Experiments were carried out on a vegetable field with Peking cabbage(Brassica pekinensis (Lour.) Rupr.), cabbage (Brassica, chinensis var. oleifcra Makino and nemoto),green cabbage (Brassica chinensis L.), spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) and rape(Brassica campestrisL.) to study the effects of N forms and N rates on their growth and nitrate accumulation. Theresults indicated that application of ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate and ureasignificantly increased the yields and nitrate concentrations of Peking cabbage and *** no significant difference was found in the yields after application of the 4 N forms,nitrate N increased nitrate accumulation in vegetables much more than ammonium N. The vegetableyields were not increased continuously with N rate increase, and oversupply of N reduced the plantgrowth, leading to a yield decline. This trend was also true for nitrate concentrations in somevegetables and at some sampling times. However, as a whole, the nitrate concentrations in vegetableswere positively correlated with N rates. Thus, addition of N fertilizer to soil was the major causefor increases in nitrate concentrations in vegetables. Nitrate concentrations were much higher inroots, stems and petioles than in blades at any N rate.
