Sexual size dimorphism(SSD) plays a significant role in understanding the evolution of life history and mating behavior. In this study,we analyzed the morphological data from a treefrog,Hyla ussuriensis,in northeastern China and found that there are significant differences between males and females. Females that are larger in body size increase fecundity as the total number of eggs is positively correlated to female body size. Males are smaller in body size due to the mate choice by females based on the size dimorphism index(SVL mean of female divided by that of male) for the population,which may be an evolutionary stable strategy(ESS). SSD can be influenced not only through mate choice,but also reproductive behavior by analyzing the female reproduction output in the field. Our data are consistent with many previous studies,indicating that fecundity selection and sexual selection may be the common cause for sexual dimorphism in this species. Furthermore,there are no significant morphological differences between mated and unmated frogs of both sexes,which suggests that any frog can obtain a breeding chance when it matures. It further indicates that males may not affect female choice except by their snout-vent length(SVL) and body mass. It is,of course,possible that females adopt a mating strategy to mate with males whose SVL and body mass are smaller than paired females. Our research provides unequivocal evidence for effective female choice and information on the evolution of SSD in the production of anuran pairing patterns.

In this paper, we study a class of manufacturing systems which consist of multiple plants and each of the plants has capability of producing multiple distinct products. The production lines of a certain plant may switch between producing different kinds of products in a time-sharing mode. We optimize the capacity configuration of such a system0s production lines with the objective to maximize the overall profit in the capacity planning horizon. Uncertain demand is incorporated in the model to achieve a robust configuration solution. The optimization problem is formulated as a nonlinear polynomial stochastic programming problem, which is difficult to be efficiently solved due to demand uncertainties and large search space. We show the NP-hardness of the problem first, and then apply ordinal optimization (OO) method to search for good enough designs with high probability. At lower level, an mixed integer programming (MIP) solving tool is employed to evaluate the performance of a design under given demand profile. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

BACKGROUND Rupture of an intracranial aneurysm is a type of acute stroke that is a serious threat to human *** of ruptured intracranial aneurysms is a serious clinical event that may have disastrous consequences in some *** date,ruptured intracranial aneurysms have been misdiagnosed as meningitis,tumors,stroke,or trauma,among other ***,we report what appears to be the first case of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm that presented as cerebral circulation *** SUMMARY A middle-aged man was admitted to our hospital because of a parasellar lesion identified on a noncontrast computed tomography(CT)image after a mild traffic accident that was caused by a brief loss of ***,he was diagnosed with cerebral circulation insufficiency after two unexplained episodes of a transient loss of consciousness within the past 8 *** patient was diagnosed with right internal carotid artery aneurysm based on CT angiography and completely recovered after a craniotomy at our hospital.A few clots and severe adhesions around the aneurysm were observed in the subarachnoid space during the operation,suggesting that the aneurysm had ruptured and may had been misdiagnosed as cerebral circulation *** Ruptured intracranial aneurysms may show negative imaging results and present as cerebral circulation insufficiency,which should be recognized as soon as possible to ensure timely management.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of a 48-week course of adefovir dipivoxil(ADV)plus Chinese medicine(CM)therapy,namely Tiaogan Jianpi Hexue(调肝健脾和血)and Tiaogan Jiedu Huashi(调肝解毒化湿)fomulae,in hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)-positive Chinese ***:A total of 605 HBeAg-positive Chinese CHB patients were screened and 590 eligible participants were randomly assigned to 2 groups in 1:1 ratio including experimental group(EG,received ADV plus CM)and control group(CG,received ADV plus CM-placebo)for 48 *** major study outcomes were the rates of HBeAg and HBV-DNA loss on week 12,24,36,48,*** endpoints including liver functions(enzymes and bilirubin readings)were evaluated every 4 weeks at the beginning of week 24,36,and *** blood,urine,and stool analyses in addition to electrocardiogram and abdominal B scan were monitored as safety *** events(AEs)were ***:The combination therapy demonstrated superior HBeAg loss at 48 weeks,without additional *** full analysis population was 560 and 280 in each *** the EG,population achieved HBeAg loss on week 12,24,36,and 48 were 25(8.90%),34(12.14%),52(18.57%),and 83(29.64%),respectively;the equivalent numbers in the CG were 20(7.14%),41(14.64%),54(19.29%),and 50(17.86%),*** was a statistically significant difference between two groups on week 48(P<0.01).No additional AEs were found in *** analysis suggested different outcomes among treatment ***:Combination of CM and ADV therapy demonstrated superior HBeAg clearance compared with ADV *** finding indicates that this combination therapy may provide an improved therapeutic effect and safety profile(ChiCTR-TRC-11001263).

To improve the separation efficiency of air dense medium fluidized beds tor dry coal preparation, a gasvibro fluidized bed has been proposed in which magnetic powder is used as the heavy medium. Pressure fluctuations in the gas-vibro fluidized bed were investigated using time- and frequency-domain analysis methods. The relationship between pressure fluctuations, bubble behavior, and separation efficiency was established. The low amplitude of the standard deviation, the power spectral density （PSD）, the incoherent-output PSD, and the high amplitude of the coherent-output PSD, which corresponds to the bubble behavior in the bed, were improved for coal preparation. The coal ash content was reduced from 42.5570 to 16.54% by using the gas-vibro fluidized bed.

Strain Rate Effect of AE Characteristics in the Whole Process of Uniaxial Tensile of Mortar

We completed the uniaxial tensile test of mortar in the range of strain rate from 10^(-6)to 10^(-4)s^(-1)in the section containing softening,and carried out acoustic emission monitoring(AE)simultaneously.A series of AE parameters and spectrum analysis methods were used to identify the damage evolution process and cracking mechanism of mortar at different strain *** results show that,with the increase of strain rate,the peak stress and tensile elastic modulus of mortar increase obviously,and the stress level corresponding to the starting point of AE activity increases significantly as well,which indicates that the mechanical properties and AE characteristics of mortar have obvious strain rate *** the increase of strain rate,the cumulative AE hit decreases gradually,while the average AE hit rate increases significantly,indicating that the increase of strain rate reduces the damage degree of internal microstructure of the specimen,but the crack propagation speed *** the pre-peak stress stage,the average of AE ringing count and signal energy decreases with the increase of strain rate,while the average of duration increases;in the post-peak stress stage(f_(t)-30%f_(t)),the average of the three AE parameters all increase with the increase of strain rate,indicating that the strain rate effect on the damage process of mortar is different before and after peak stress,and the damage mechanism represented by different parameters is also *** the whole process of uniaxial tensile of mortar,with the increase of strain rate,the scatter distribution of AE frequency-amplitude becomes more discrete,and the b-value shows a decreasing *** addition,the average level of AE peak frequency decreases with the increase of strain rate,while that of ca8 band wavelet energy spectrum coefficient *** is indicated that the increase of strain rate enables the crack propagation state of mortar specimen to become unstable,and the width of macrocrack incre

Numerical analysis of residence time distribution of solids in a bubbling fluidized bed based on the modified structure-based drag model

The residence time distribution （RTD） of solids and the fluidized structure of a bubbling fluidized bed were investigated numerically using computational fluid dynamics simulations coupled with the modified structure-based drag model. A general comparison of the simulated results with theoretical values shows reasonable agreement. As the mean residence time is increased, the RTD initial peak intensity decreases and the RTD curve tail extends farther. Numerous small peaks on the RTD curve are induced by the back- mixing and aggregation of particles, which attests to the non-uniform flow structure of the bubbling fluidized bed. The low value of t50 results in poor contact between phases, and the complete exit age of the overflow particles is much longer for back-mixed solids and those caught in dead regions. The formation of a gulf-stream flow and back-mixing for solids induces an even wider spread of RTD.

Degradation Characteristics and Community Structure of a Hydrocarbon Degrading Bacterial Consortium

A hydrocarbon degrading bacterial consortium KO5-2 was isolated from oil-contaminated soil of Karamay in Xinjiang, China, which could remove 56.9% of 10 g/L total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH) at 30 ℃ after 7 days of incubation, and could also remove 100% of fluorene, 98.93% of phenanthrene and 65.73% of pyrene within 3, 7 and 9 days, respectively. Twelve strains from six different genera were isolated from KO5-2 and only eight ones were able to utilize the TPH. The denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) was used to investigate the microbial community shifts in five different carbon sources(including TPH, saturated hydrocarbons, fluorene, phenanthrene and pyrene). The test results indicated that the community compositions of KO5-2 in carbon sources of TPH and saturated hydrocarbons, respectively, were roughly the same, while they were distinctive in the three different carbon sources of PAHs. Rhodococcus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. could survive in the five kinds of carbon sources. Bacillus sp., Sphingomonas sp. and Ochrobactrum sp. likely played key roles in the degradation of saturated hydrocarbons, PAHs and phenanthrene, respectively. This study showed that specific bacterial phylotypes were associated with different contaminants and complex interactions between bacterial species, and the medium conditions influenced the biodegradation capacity of the microbial communities involved in bioremediation processes.
