Ferroptosis contributes to JEV-induced neuronal damage and neuroinflammation

Ferroptosis is a newly discovered prototype of programmed cell death (PCD) driven by iron-dependent phospholipid peroxidation accumulation, and it has been linked to numerous organ injuries and degenerative pathologies. Although studies have shown that a variety of cell death processes contribute to JEV-induced neuroinflammation and neuronal injury, there is currently limited research on the specific involvement of ferroptosis. In this study, we explored the neuronal ferroptosis induced by JEV infection in vitro and in vivo. Our results indicated that JEV infection induces neuronal ferroptosis through inhibiting the function of the antioxidant system mediated by glutathione (GSH)/glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), as well as by promoting lipid peroxidation mediated by yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1)/long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4 (ACSL4). Further analyses revealed that JEV E and prM proteins function as agonists, inducing ferroptosis. Moreover, we found that treatment with a ferroptosis inhibitor in JEV-infected mice reduces the viral titers and inflammation in the mouse brains, ultimately improving the survival rate of infected mice. In conclusion, our study unveils a critical role of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of JEV, providing new ideas for the prevention and treatment of viral encephalitis.

Semi-analytical Formula for Pricing Bilateral Counterparty Risk of CDS with Correlated Credit Risks

Based on the framework of [7], we discuss pricing bilateral counterparty risk of CDS, where each individual default intensity is modeled by a shifted CIR process with jump （3CIR＋＋）, and the correlation between the default times is modeled by a copula function. We present a semi-analytical formula for pricing bilateral counterparty risk of CDS, which is more convenient to compute through calculating multiple numerical integration or using Monte-Carlo simulation without simulating default times. Moreover, we obtain simpler formulae under FGM copulas, Bernstein copulas and CA＇B copulas, which can be applied for speeding up the computation and reducing the pricing error. Numerical results under FGM copulas and CA＇B copulas show that our method performs better both in computation speed and accuracy.

Toroidal dipole-modulated dipole-dipole double-resonance in colloidal gold rod-cup nanocrystals for improved SERS and secondharmonic generation

Colloidal metal nanocrystals(NCs)show great potential in plasmon-enhanced spectroscopy owing to their attractive and structure-depended plasmonic ***,unique Au rod-cup NCs,where Au nanocups are embedded on the one or two ends of Au nanorods(NRs),are successfully prepared for the first time via a controllable wet-chemistry *** Au rod-cup NCs possess multiple plasmon modes including transverse and longitudinal electric dipole(TED and LED),magnetic dipole(MD),and toroidal dipole(TD)modulated LED resonances,producing large extinction cross-section and huge near-field enhancements for plasmon-enhanced ***,Au rod-cup NCs with two embedded cups show excellent surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)performance than Au NRs(75.6-fold enhancement excited at 633 nm)on detecting crystal violet owing to the strong electromagnetic hotspots synergistically induced by MD,LED,and TED-based plasmon coupling between Au cup and ***,the strong TD-modulated dipole-dipole double-resonance and MD modes in Au rod-cup NCs bring a 37.3-fold enhancement of second-harmonic generation intensity compared with bare Au NRs,because they can efficiently harvest photoenergy at fundamental frequency and generate large near-field enhancements at second-harmonic *** findings provide a strategy for designing optical nanoantennas for plasmon-enhanced applications based on multiple plasmon modes.

What do parameterized Om(z) diagnostics tell us in light of recent observations?

In this paper, we propose a new parametrization for Om(z) diagnostics and show how the most recent and significantly improved observations concerning the H(z) and SN Ia measurements can be used to probe the consistency or tension between the ΛCDM model and observations. Our results demonstrate that H0 plays a very important role in the consistency test of ΛCDM with H(z)data. Adopting the Hubble constant priors from Planck 2013 and Riess, one finds considerable tension between the current H(z) data and ΛCDM model and confirms the conclusions obtained previously by others. However, with the Hubble constant prior taken from WMAP9, the discrepancy between H(z) data and ΛCDM disappears, i.e., the current H(z) observations still support the cosmological constant scenario. This conclusion is also supported by the results derived from the Joint Lightcurve Analysis(JLA) SN Ia sample. The best-fit Hubble constant from the combination of H(z)+JLA(H00 = 68.81+1.5-1.49 km s-1 Mpc-1) is very consistent with results derived both by Planck 2013 and WMAP9, but is significantly different from the recent local measurement by Riess.

Visible-light Photochromism of Phosphomolybdic Acid/ZnO Composite

A novel photochromic hybrid ZnO was synthesized by doping with phosphomolybdic acid（PMoA）. It could respond to visible light and fade in color when treated with hydrogen peroxide（H2O2）. The microstlucture and photochromic properties were investigated via X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy（UV-Vis） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）. The XRD patterns show that the prepared ZnO is pure and has a hexagonal wurtzite structure. The FTIR results demonstrate the existence of a strong interaction between PMoA and ZnO. Due to PMoA doping, the rough surface morphology of ZnO became smooth, as verified by the SEM images. The TEM images illustrate that pure ZnO exhibits a polycrystalline structure with irregular morphology PMoA was wrapped on the surface of ZnO. After visible-light irradiation, the composite changed from slight yellow to blue and returned to the original color in the presence of H2O2. The composite had good photosensitivity and photochromic reversibility. The photochromic process was in accord with photoinduced electrons transfer mechanism.

Continuous Dependence for Stochastic Functional Differential Equations with State-Dependent Regime-Switching on Initial Values

This work is concerned with the continuous dependence on initial values of solutions of stochastic functional differential equations(SFDEs) with state-dependent regime-switching. Due to the state-dependence, this problem is very different to the corresponding problem for SFDEs without switching or SFDEs with Markovian switching. We provide a method to overcome the intensive interaction between the continuous component and the discrete component based on a subtle application of Skorokhod’s representation for jumping processes. Furthermore, we establish the strong convergence of Euler–Maruyama’s approximations, and estimate the order of error. The continuous dependence on initial values of Euler–Maruyama’s approximations is also investigated in the end.
