Risk factors,prognostic factors,and nomograms for distant metastasis in patients with diagnosed duodenal cancer:A population-based study

BACKGROUND Duodenal cancer is one of the most common subtypes of small intestinal cancer,and distant metastasis(DM)in this type of cancer still leads to poor *** nomograms have recently been used in tumor areas,no studies have focused on the diagnostic and prognostic evaluation of DM in patients with primary duodenal *** To develop and evaluate nomograms for predicting the risk of DM and person-alized prognosis in patients with duodenal *** Data on duodenal cancer patients diagnosed between 2010 and 2019 were extracted from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results *** and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify independent risk factors for DM in patients with duodenal cancer,and univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were used to determine independent prognostic factors in duodenal cancer patients with *** novel nomograms were established,and the results were evaluated by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves,calibration curves,and decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS A total of 2603 patients with duodenal cancer were included,of whom 457 cases(17.56%)had DM at the time of *** analysis revealed independent risk factors for DM in duodenal cancer patients,including gender,grade,tumor size,T stage,and N stage(P<0.05).Univariate and multivariate COX analyses further identified independent prognostic factors for duodenal cancer patients with DM,including age,histological type,T stage,tumor grade,tumor size,bone metastasis,chemotherapy,and surgery(P<0.05).The accuracy of the nomograms was validated in the training set,validation set,and expanded testing set using ROC curves,calibration curves,and DCA *** results of Kaplan-Meier survival curves(P<0.001)indicated that both nomograms accurately predicted the occurrence and prognosis of DM in patients with duodenal *** The two nomograms are expected as effective tools fo

Formation estimation and evolution mechanism of the pressure arch for non-circular tunnels under asymmetrical stress field

The tunneling-induced stress redistribution is dependent on the tunnel shape and the in-situ stress field, and the previous arch characterization method based on the circumferential or maximum principal stresses is only suitable for the circular tunnels under the hydrostatic stress field. In this study, a unified characterization method of the pressure arch for non-circular tunnels under the arbitrary stress field is proposed. By comparing the variations of compressive stress in different directions due to excavation, the ratio of the most significant increase in compressive stress is presented to characterize the arch effect, and the corresponding numerical algorithm is given. Since the proposed method takes the stress element as the basic analytical model, it can be easily applied to various complex excavation situations. Thereafter, combined with the established folding catastrophic model, an objective and unified quantitative method of the pressure arch boundaries is given. Using the proposed method, the longitudinal evolution of the pressure arch is analyzed. According to the expansion rate of the arch boundaries, three evolution stages including the initial formation, rapid expansion and stabilization are categorized. Parametric studies are conducted to illustrate the effect of ground properties and support stiffness on the pressure arch formation. It is found that the ground strength parameters and burial depth affect the arch range at a decreasing rate, while they have little effect on the arch shape. The lateral pressure coefficient has a significant effect on both the shape and range of the pressure arch. Increasing the support stiffness helps reduce the pressure arch range with a decreasing rate, while the synchronous variation of the elastic moduli of the surrounding rock and support does not affect the arch range under a certain relative elastic modulus. Finally, field monitoring is conducted to validate the proposed method in actual support design.

Patterns and drivers of plant sexual systems in the dry-hot valley region of southwestern China

Sexual systems play important roles in angiosperm evolution and exhibit substantial variations among different floras. Thus, studying their evolution in a whole flora is crucial for understanding the formation and maintenance of plant biodiversity and predicting its responses to environmental change. In this study, we determined the patterns of plant sexual systems and their associations with geographic elements and various life-history traits in dry-hot valley region of southwestern China, an extremely vulnerable ecosystem. Of the 3166 angiosperm species recorded in this area, 74.5% were hermaphroditic,13.5% were monoecious and 12% were dioecious, showing a high incidence of diclinous species. Diclinous species were strongly associated with tropical elements, whereas hermaphroditic species were strongly associated with temperate and cosmopolitan elements. We also found that hermaphroditism was strongly associated with showy floral displays, specialist entomophily, dry fruits and herbaceous *** was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, generalist entomophily, fleshy fruits, and woody plants, whereas monoecy was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, anemophily, dry fruits, and herbaceous plants. In addition, hermaphroditic species with generalist entomophily tended to flower in the dry season, whereas diclinous species with specialist entomophily tended to flower in the rainy season. However, independent of sexual systems, plants that produce dry fruits tended to flower in the rainy season and set fruits in the dry season, but the opposite pattern was found for fleshy fruit-producing plants. Our results suggest that in the dry-hot valleys, plant sexual systems are associated with geographic elements as well as various life-history traits that are sensitive to environmental change.

N-glycan biosignatures as a potential diagnostic biomarker for earlystage pancreatic cancer

Rubber-based composites based on ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM)with excellent non-linear electrical conductivity are preferred to serve as reinforced insu-lation in cable accessories,which can self-adaptively regulate electric field distribution and avoid electric field concentration due to the non-linear *** conductive carbon nanotubes(CNT)are filled into EPDM to improve the non-linear conductivity,while the insulating hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets(h-BN)are used to reconcile the electric breakdown *** results show that with the increase of CNT loading content,the non-linear conductivity of CNT/h-BN/EPDM com-posites becomes more prominent,accompanying the decrease of threshold field strength and increase of non-linear ***,the electric breakdown strength of CNT/h-BN/EPDM composites seriously deteriorates due to the increase of CNT content and *** incorporating 10 wt.%h-BN into the com-posites,the reduction percentage of breakdown strength can be significantly lowered,which is 19.95%of neat EPDM and 13.74%of CNT/h-BN/EPDM composites at 70℃,*** COMSOL Multiphysics simulation results demonstrate that using the CNT/h-BN/EPDM composite as the reinforced insulation can eliminate the electric field concentration of the cable accessory as well as enable the cable accessory with good lightning shock resistance.

W-band millimeter wave vialess microstrip-to-microstrip vertical transition in multilayer LCP substrate

In this paper,a W-band broadband vialess microstrip(MS)-to-MS vertical transition in multilayer liquid crystal polymer(LCP)substrate is presented,which consists of two MS lines in the top layer,a common ground plane and slotline resonators in the second layer,and a close-loop transmission-line in the third *** increase the passband of the vialess vertical transition,an H-shaped slotline resonator is introduced,which greatly improves the impedance performance of the slotline resonator,and the full-wave simulated results indicate that insertion loss(IL)is less than 2 dB and return loss(RL)is better than 10 dB at *** verify this design,the broadband vertical transition is fabricated and *** measured results indicate that a broadband vertical transition with RL better than 10 dB and IL less than 5.67 dB can be obtained in the frequency range from 70.00 GHz to 104.09 *** to the fabrication error in the preparation process,the measured results are deteriorated compared to the simulated results,and the investigation indicates that the deviation is caused by the thickness error of the LCP substrate.

Multi-scale lamellar structure significantly improves toughness of Ti_(2)AlNb based alloys,which are inher-ently brittle intermetallics,without compromising their *** structure was achieved through-B2-transus-forging(TBTF)combined with O+B2 two-phase region heat *** types of multi-scale lamellar structures were obtained by controlling the cooling rate after *** variations were mainly attributed to differences in the distribution,content,and size of the thick lamellar O phase and the size and crystallographic orientation of B2 *** analyzing the microstructural characteristics and crystallographic orientation near the crack propagation path,it was found that the crack propaga-tion resistance of thick lamellae,sub grain and grain boundaries(GBs)O phase increased sequentially,accompanied by more tortuous crack propagation ***,B2 grains with high misorientation significantly deflected the crack propagation by cleavage ridges between adjoining cleavage ***-tionally,the development of numerous secondary cleavage ridges,resulting from the transition through varying secondary cleavage planes in distinct sub B2 grains,further hindered the quick propagation of *** was clarified that the cleavage planes were dominantly belonging to{110}.These findings pro-vided valuable guidance for the design of damage tolerance strategies for Ti_(2)AlNb-based intermetallics.

Reliability ensemble averaging reduces surface wind speed projection uncertainties in the 21st century over China

Accurate prediction of future surface wind speed(SWS)changes is the basis of scientific planning for wind *** studies have projected SWS changes in the 21st century over China on the basis of the multi-model ensemble(MME)of the 6th Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).However,the simulation capability for SWS varies greatly in CMIP6 multi-models,so the MME results still have large *** this study,we used the reliability ensemble averaging(REA)method to assign each model different weights according to their performances in simulating historical SWS changes and project the SWS under different shared socioeconomic pathways(SSPs)in *** results indicate that REA considerably improves the SWS simulation capacity of CMIP6,eliminating the overestimation of SWS by the MME and increasing the simulation capacity of spatial *** spatial correlations with observations increased from 0.56 for the MME to 0.85 for ***,REA could eliminate the overestimation of the SWS by 33%in *** for southeastern China,the SWS generally decreases over China in the near term(2020-2049)and later term(2070-2099),particularly under high-emission *** SWS reduction projected by REA is twice as high as that by the MME in the near term,reaching-4%to-3%.REA predicts a larger area of increased SWS in the later term,which expands from southeastern China to eastern *** study helps to reduce the projected SWS uncertainties.

Dendrite growth is one of the main challenges in maintaining the service life of all-solid-state lithium-ion *** stress has been reported to significantly affect dendrite *** this study,to explain the effect of mechanical stress on electrochemical reactions in all-solid-state batteries,a modified phase-field model for dendrite growth is proposed by considering the stress-dependent *** growth under different mechanical loadings in an all-solid-state battery is investigated using the proposed *** with previous experimental results,the current result shows that compressive stress inhibits dendrite *** the stress concentration at the tips of processing-induced microcracks,the effects of the number and distribution of microcracks on dendrite growth are *** results show that the stress-concentration field induced at the tips of cracks or voids can change the morphology of dendrites and decrease their growth *** study provides a new perspective for explaining Li dendrite growth under mechanical stress and offers inspiration for prolonging the service life of all-solid-state batteries based on defect and stress regulation,which may be further realized in experiments by filling solid electrolytes with different types of nanofillers.
