In patients with Alzheimer’s disease,gamma-glutamyl transferase 5(GGT5)expression has been observed to be downregulated in cerebrovascular endothelial ***,the functional role of GGT5 in the development of Alzheimer’s disease remains *** study aimed to explore the effect of GGT5 on cognitive function and brain pathology in an APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease,as well as the underlying *** observed a significant reduction in GGT5 expression in two in vitro models of Alzheimer’s disease(Aβ_(1-42)-treated hCMEC/D3 and bEnd.3 cells),as well as in the APP/PS1 mouse ***,injection of APP/PS1 mice with an adeno-associated virus encoding GGT5 enhanced hippocampal synaptic plasticity and mitigated cognitive ***,increasing GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells reduced levels of both soluble and insoluble amyloid-βin the brains of APP/PS1 *** effect may be attributable to inhibition of the expression ofβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,which is mediated by nuclear factor-kappa *** findings demonstrate that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is inversely associated with Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis,and that GGT5 upregulation mitigates cognitive deficits in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is a potential therapeutic target and biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease.

The underground structure in coral sand is threatened by *** special dynamic characteristics of coral sand were realized by finite difference ***,the stress–strain loops,shear modulus attenuation and hysteresis behaviour of coral sand were simulated using hysteresis *** this basis,numerical models were established to study the seismic response of the rectangular underground structure in coral sand,and the fluid–solid coupling and soil-structure interaction were *** results illustrate that the increasing relative density of coral sand foundation reduces the excess pore water pressure(EPWP),but amplifies the horizontal dynamic soil pressure of the coral sand-underground structure *** increase in the permeability coefficient of coral sand reduces the EPWP accumulation,which leads to an increase of the stiffness and a decrease of the acceleration amplification of coral sand sites.

The self-organizing worm algorithm

A new multi-modal optimization algorithm called the self-organizing worm algorithm （SOWA） is presented for optimization of multi-modal functions. The main idea of this algorithm can be described as follows： disperse some worms equably in the domain; the worms exchange the information each other and creep toward the nearest high point; at last they will stop on the nearest high point. All peaks of multi-modal function can be found rapidly through studying and chasing among the worms. In contrast with the classical multi-modal optimization algorithms, SOWA is provided with a simple calculation, strong convergence, high precision, and does not need any prior knowledge. Several simulation experiments for SOWA are performed, and the complexity of SOWA is analyzed amply. The results show that SOWA is very effective in optimization of multi-modal functions.

Rush-hour aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons in selected subway stations of Shanghai,China

Air samples were collected simultaneously at platform,mezzanine and outdoor in five typical stations of subway system in Shanghai,China using stainless steel canisters and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass selective detector （GC-MSD） after cryogenic ***,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes （BTEX） at the platforms and mezzanines inside the stations averaged （10.3±2.1）,（38.7±9.0）,（19.4±10.1） and （30.0±11.1） μg/m 3,respectively;while trichloroethylene （TrCE）,tetrachloroethylene （TeCE） and para-dichlorobenzene （pDCB）,vinyl chloride and carbon tetrachloride were the most abundant chlorinated hydrocarbons inside the stations with average levels of （3.6±1.3）,（1.3±0.5）,（4.1±1.1）,（2.2±1.1） and （1.2±0.3） μg/m 3,*** levels of major aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons were higher indoor （platforms and mezzanines） than outdoor with average indoor/outdoor （I/O） ratios of 1.1–9.5,whereas no significant indoor/outdoor differences were found except for benzene and *** highly significant mutual correlations （p0.01） for BTEX between indoor and outdoor and their significant correlation （p0.05） with methyl tert-butyl ether （MTBE）,a marker of traffic-related emission without other indoor and outdoor sources,indicated that BTEX were introduced into the subway stations from indoor/outdoor air exchange and traffic emission should be their dominant *** and pDCB were mainly from indoor emission and TeCE might have both indoor emission sources and contribution from outdoor air,especially in the mezzanines.

Influence of Gd_2O_3 and Yb_2O_3 Co-doping on Phase Stability,Thermo-physical Properties and Sintering of 8YSZ

The role of multicomponent rare earth oxides in phase stability, thermophysical properties and sintering for ZrO2-based thermal barrier coatings （TBCs） materials is investigated. 8YSZ codoped with 3 mol% Gd2O3 and 3 mol% Yb2O3 （GYb-YSZ） powders are synthesized by solid state reaction for 24 h at various temperatures. As temperature increases, stabilizers are dissolved into zirconia matrix gradually. Synthesized at 1 500 °C, GYb-YSZ is basically composed of cubic phase. GYb-YSZ exhibits excellent phase stability and sinters lower than 8YSZ by nearly three times. The thermal conductivity of GYb-YSZ is much lower than that of 8YSZ, and the thermal expansion coefficient of GYb-YSZ is comparable to that of 8YSZ. The influence of Gd2O3 and Yb2O3 co-doping on phase stability, thermal conductivity and sintering of 8YSZ is discussed.

Simulation of the coarsening behavior of intermetallic precipitates in Ni_(75)Al_xV_(25-x) alloys

The coarsening behavior of L12 and D022 in Ni75AlxV25-x （x,at.%） alloys including coherent strain was investigated using the microscopic phase-field model. The simulation results indicate that the shape transition and spatial correlation of L12 and D022 are caused by the morphological-dependent anisotropic elastic interactions in the system. The coarsening process of the particles is by means of neighbor particles impingement and aggregation into larger ones. For the strain-induced interactions between the precipitates,the LSW theory is altered for the coarsening behavior of L12 and D022. In addition,the simulation reveals that the growth and coarsening of D022 present two obvious stages at lower Al concentration regions and proceed simultaneously at high Al concentration regions. The growth and coarsening processes of L12 at the same regions is reverse to those of D022.

The Deformable Spatial Pyramid(DSP) Matching algorithm is popular for densely matching images with similar content but from different *** achieves high matching accuracy by regularizing matching consistency at multiple spatial ***,DSP computes dense SIFTs at a fixed scale across different spatial *** scale difference between images is cmcial to matching accuracy,we propose to use space-spanning scales to improve DSP by extracting dense SIFTs at different scales for different pyramid *** and quantitative experiments show our approach gains significant improvements,especially in dealing with images containing multiple objects from the same ***,SLIC superpixel algorithm is exploited to further refine the generated flow *** results show that this post-process is very efficient in reducing clutters and preserves much more texture information.

Ozone episodes during and after the 2018 Chinese National Day holidays in Guangzhou:Implications for the control of precursor VOCs

The impact of reducing industrial emissions of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)on ozone(O_(3))pollution is of wide concern particularly in highly industrialized *** this study,O_(3),nitrogen oxides(NOx)and VOCs were measured at an urban site in the Pearl River Delta region during the 2018 Chinese National Day Holidays and two after-holiday periods(one with ozone pollution and another without).O_(3)pollution occurred throughout the 7-day holidays even industrial emissions of VOCswere passively reduced due to temporary factory shutdowns,and the toluene to benzene ratios dropped from∼10 during non-holidays to∼5 during the *** model(AtChem2-MCM)simulations with the input of observation data revealed that O_(3)formation was all VOC-limited,and alkenes had the highest relative incremental reactivity(RIR)during the holiday and non-holiday O_(3)episodes while aromatics had the highest RIR during the non-pollution *** model also demonstrated that even aromatics decreased proportionally to levels with near-zero contributions of industrial aromatic solvents,O_(3)concentrations would only decrease by less than 20%during the holiday and non-holiday O_(3)episodes and ozone pollution in the periods could not be *** results imply that controlling emissions of industrial aromatic solvents might be not enough to eliminate O_(3)pollution in the region,and more attention should be paid to anthropogenic reactive *** and formaldehyde were among the top 3 species by RIRs in all the three pollution and non-pollution periods,suggesting substantial contribution to O_(3)formation from biogenic VOCs.

The advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKI)targeting BCR-ABL has drastically changed the treatment approach of chronic myeloid leukemia(CML),greatly prolonged the life of CML patients,and improved their ***,TKI resistance is still a major problem with CML patients,reducing the efficacy of treatment and their quality of *** resistance is mainly divided into BCR-ABL-dependent and BCR-ABL-independent ***,the main clinical strategy addressing TKI resistance is to switch to newly developed ***,data have shown that these new drugs may cause serious adverse reactions and intolerance and cannot address all resistance ***,finding new therapeutic targets to overcome TKI resistance is crucial and the ubiquitin-proteasome system(UPS)has emerged as a *** UPS mediates the degradation of most proteins in organisms and controls a wide range of physiological *** recent years,the study of UPS in hematological malignant tumors has resulted in effective treatments,such as bortezomib in the treatment of multiple myeloma and mantle cell *** CML,the components of UPS cooperate or antagonize the efficacy of TKI by directly or indirectly affecting the ubiquitination of BCR-ABL,interfering with CML-related signaling pathways,and negatively or positively affecting leukemia stem *** of these molecules may help overcome TKI resistance and treat *** this review,the mechanism of TKI resistance is briefly described,the components of UPS are introduced,existing studies on UPS participating in TKI resistance are listed,and UPS as the therapeutic target and strategies are discussed.
