We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

An earthquake of magnitude M5.7 occurred in Yamutu village,Songyuan City,Jilin Province,NE China(45°16′12″N/124°42′35″E)on May 28,2018,with a focal depth of 13 *** epicenter is located at the intersection of the fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault,Second Songhua River Fault and fuyu North Fault which lies northwest of TanchengLujiang Fault(Tan-Lu Fault).The earthquake-induced widespread liquefaction structures and ground surface fissures within 3 km from the epicenter,caused serious disasters to the local *** visible liquefied structures include sand volcanoes,liquefied sand mounds,sand dikes and sand *** volcanoes can be divided into sand volcano with a crater,sand volcano without a crater and water volcano(no sand).Other soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS)induced by the earthquake include deformation lamination,load and flame structures,deformation folds,dish structures,convolute bedding and water-escape *** formation process of the sand volcanoes comprises three stages:(1)building up excess pore-fluid pressure in the liquefied layer,(2)cracking of the low-permeable overlying layer,and(3)mixture of sand-water venting out of the ground *** the upward movement,the liquefied sand is injected into the low-permeable layer to form sand veins,sand sills and various types of deformation *** distribution of seismic liquefaction structure can be divided into four zones:the thoroughly liquefied zone,the lower liquefied zone with SSDS,the upper liquefied zone with SSDS,and the ground surface liquefied *** liquefaction occurred at a burial depth of 2–5 m,and the thickness of liquefied sand is 2 ***-SW(35°–215°)trending compressive stress is possibly the seismogenic trigger of the Songyuan M5.7 earthquake that caused the fault(fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault)to *** study of the Songyuan seismic liquefaction structures gives insight into the prediction of modern earthquakes and disasterprone ***

Groundwater is a key component for water resources in Sanjiang and Songnen Plain, an important agriculture basement in China. The quality and the renewability of irrigation groundwater are essential for the stock raising and agricultural production. Shallow groundwater was sampled and analyzed for various variables. The salinity sodium concentration and bicarbonate hazard, were examined with regard to the United States Department of Agriculture （USDA） irrigation water standards. The concentration of chlorofluorocarbons （CFCs） was determined to analyze the age of groundwater. Most groundwater samples labeled as excellent to good for irrigation with low salinity hazard or medium salinity hazard. Four groundwater samples were good and suspected for irrigation with high salinity hazard. Generally groundwater in Sanjiang Plain was younger than the groundwater in Songnen Plain. Meanwhile, groundwater nearby river is younger than the groundwater further away inside the watershed. The mean age of groundwater in Sanjiang Plain is in average of 44.1,47.9 and 32.8 years by CFC-11 （CCI3F）, CFC-12 （CCI2F2） and CFC-113 （C2CI3F3）, respectively. The mean ages of groundwater in Songnen Plain is in average of 46.1, 53.4, and 40.7 years by CFC-11, CFC-12 and CFC-113, respectively. Thus, groundwater nearby rivers could be directly exploited as irrigation water. Partial groundwater has to be processed to lower the salt concentration rather than directly utilized as irrigation water in Songnen Plain. Both water quality and renewability should be put in mind for sustainable agricultural development and water resources management.

Solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)with high ionic conductivity are desirable for solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)to achieve enhanced safety and energy *** nanofillers into a polymeric matrix to develop nanocomposite solid electrolytes(NCSEs)has become a promising method for improving the ionic conductivity of the ***,a novel ZIF-8-functionalized NCSE was prepared for high-temperature S SLMB s using an in situ radical polymerization *** is found that the ZIF-8 nanoparticles could reduce the crystallinity of polymer segments and offer a Lewis acid surface that promotes the dissociation of lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(LiTFSI)and stabilizes the TFSI^(-) anion ***,the as-prepared NCSE exhibits an outstanding ionic conductivity of 1.63×10^(-3)S·cm^(-1),an electrochem ical stability window of 5.0 V at 80℃,and excellent interface compatibility with lithium metal anode with a stable polarization over 2000 ***,the assembled SSLMBs with LiFePO_(4)cathode show dendrite-free Li-metal surface,good rate capability,and stable cycling stability with a capacity retention of 70%over 1000 cycles at a high temperature of 80℃.This work provides valuable insights into promoting the ionic conductivity of SPEs.

High-cost pre-alloyed powder is the bottleneck problem that limits the widespread application of additivemanufactured shape memory *** this work,the lowcost ternary NiTiFe shape memory alloy is fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)technique via mechanically mixed pre-alloy NiTi powder and varying contents pure Fe powder(1,2,3 wt%).All NiTiFe alloys show a relative density of up to 99.8%by optimizing the LPBF processing *** to the heterogeneous nucleation effect of micron-sized Fe particles,both grain refinement and texture weakening are generated in the NiTiFe alloys,accompanied by the reduction of dislocation *** the room-temperature mechanical properties,the NiTi-3Fe alloy shows the highest microhardness of HV370,but the fracture strength and elongation reduce to1701 MPa and 23%*** evolution of mechanical properties is attributed to the high internal defects,low dislocation density and the incoherent ***,the NiTi-3Fe alloy shows the quasi-linear superelasticity behavior;the superelastic recoverable strain of NiTi-1Fe and NiTi-2Fe decreased with the increase in Fe *** study provided a new-fangled insight for the development of multi-component NiTi-based shape memory alloys by additive manufacturing.

Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is a devastating lung disease with limited treatment *** this pathological process,the profibrogenic macrophage subpopulation plays a crucial role,making the characterization of this subpopulation fundamentally *** present study revealed a positive correlation between pulmonary macrophages with higher mitochondrial mass(Mø^(mitohigh))and *** the Mø^(mitohigh)subpopulation of CD206^(+)M2,characterized by higher expression of dynamin 1-like(Drp1),as determined by flow cytometry and RNA-seq analysis,a therapeutic intervention was developed using an exosome-based formula composed of pathfinder and therapeutics.A pathfinder exosome called“exosome^(MMP19)(Exo^(MMP19))”,was constructed to display matrix metalloproteinase-19(^(MMP19))on the surface to locally break down the excessive extracellular matrix(ECM)in the fibrotic lung.A therapeutic exosome called“exosome therapeutics(Exo^(Tx))”,was engineered to display D-mannose on the surface while encapsulating siDrp1 *** delivery of Exo^(MMP19)degraded excessive ECM and thus paved the way for Exo^(Tx)to be delivered into Mø^(mitohigh),where Exo^(Tx)inhibited mitochondrial fission and alleviated *** study has not only identified Mø^(mitohigh)as profibrotic macrophages but it has also provided a potent strategy to reverse PF via a combination of formulated exosomes.
