The continuous wavelet projections algorithm: A practical spectral-feature-mining approach for crop detection

Spectroscopy can be used for detecting crop characteristics. A goal of crop spectrum analysis is to extract effective features from spectral data for establishing a detection model. An ideal spectral feature set should have high sensitivity to target parameters but low information redundancy among ***, feature-selection methods that satisfy both requirements are lacking. To address this issue,in this study, a novel method, the continuous wavelet projections algorithm(CWPA), was developed,which has advantages of both continuous wavelet analysis(CWA) and the successive projections algorithm(SPA) for generating optimal spectral feature set for crop detection. Three datasets collected for crop stress detection and retrieval of biochemical properties were used to validate the CWPA under both classification and regression scenarios. The CWPA generated a feature set with fewer features yet achieving accuracy comparable to or even higher than those of CWA and SPA. With only two to three features identified by CWPA, an overall accuracy of 98% in classifying tea plant stresses was achieved, and high coefficients of determination were obtained in retrieving corn leaf chlorophyll content(R^(2)= 0.8521)and equivalent water thickness(R^(2)= 0.9508). The mechanism of the CWPA ensures that the novel algorithm discovers the most sensitive features while retaining complementarity among features. Its ability to reduce the data dimension suggests its potential for crop monitoring and phenotyping with hyperspectral data.

Dietary nutrient status modulates nutrient regeneration in the marine ciliate Euplotes vannus

Marine ciliates play important roles not only in linking the microbial loop to the classic pelagic and benthic food chains but also in regenerating nutrients,yet how dietary nutrient imbalance impacts their nutrient regeneration has not been thoroughly *** growth and physiological responses of Euplotes vannus to low dietary nitrogen(LN)and low dietary phosphorus(LP)conditions were studied,with the bacterium Pseudomonas putida as *** on LN prey reduced the growth rate of *** nutrient limitation changed the types and quantities of nutrient *** on LP prey enhanced dissolved organic carbon excretion but reduced orthophosphate excretion,whereas feeding on LN prey generally resulted in decreases in the excretion rate in all N forms(ammonium,urea,and nitrate).In addition,the proportion of ammonium in regenerated N increased significantly under the LN *** findings indicate that a nutrient-imbalanced diet triggers *** to retain limited macronutrients and promotes the recycling of excessive macronutrients,which may potentially form positive and negative feedback to ambient N and P limitations,respectively.

Detoxification strategy of Microcystis aeruginosa to the toxicity of Cd(Ⅱ):role of EPS in alleviating toxicity

Although many studies have found that cadmium(Cd)can be toxic to microalgae,only a few reports focused on the role of extracellular polymeric substances(EPS)in Cd(Ⅱ)*** biochemical and physiological endpoints of Microcystis aeruginosa,including the composition and functional groups of soluble EPS(SL-EPS),loosely bound EPS(LB-EPS),and tightly bound EPS(TB-EPS),were detected to elucidate the toxicity and detoxification mechanisms of Cd(Ⅱ)for *** and physiological assays on *** showed that the 0.25-mg/L Cd(Ⅱ)resulted in a larger inhibition on growth and F_(v)/F_(m).Nevertheless,Cd(Ⅱ)significantly induced much higher contents of superoxide dismutase(SOD),intracellular microcystin LR(MC-LR),extracellular MC-LR,and *** electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed that Cd(Ⅱ)was absorbed into the EPS *** transform infrared spectrum analysis revealed that the functional groups bound with Cd(Ⅱ)of algae biomass,SL-EPS,LB-EPS,and TB-EPS were somewhat *** C=O/C=N groups ofδ-lactam or protein were their prominent functional groups,suggesting that amide or proteins in the EPS played a key role in the adsorption in Cd(Ⅱ).The concentration of 0.25 mg/L of Cd(Ⅱ)may change the chemical structure of EPS by altering the production of protein-like substances containing *** study indicated that *** could detoxify Cd(Ⅱ)stress via induction of antioxidant capacity(higher SOD activity and MC synthesis),EPS production,and modification in chemical structure of EPS.

With increasing morbidity and mortality,acute myocardial infarction(AMI)has become one of the major causes of human death,leading to heavy burdens to individuals,families and *** researches have found that though large amount of resources and great effort were devoted,no significant improvements were achieved in reducing the in-hospital mortality of AMI ***,extensive studies about Chinese medicine(CM)have found that CM has special advantages in treating AMI ***,there is no standardiz.d and unified clinical practice guideline(CPG)of CM for ***,a CPG with strict standard and generally acknowledgement is urgent to be *** guideline was developed following the methodological process established by the World Health Organiz.tion Handbook for Guideline *** search on clinical evidences including systematic review(SR),randomiz.d controlled trial(RCT),observational study and case reports was launched,covering evidence of CM for AMI on several aspects,such as diagnosis,CM patterns,CM interventions on AMI and complications,cardiac rehabilitation and clinical pathway ***,the application of Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development and Evaluation(GRADE)approach enabled the evaluation of evidence and formulation of grade of recommendation(GOR)and level of evidence(LOE).With the help of GOR and LOE,this CPG recommends the integrative CM and WM treatment method in AMI patients and provides useful information on medical decision for clinical physicians.

Antibacterial activities against Porphyromonas gingivalis and biological characteristics of copper-bearing PEO coatings on magnesium

Unlike other parts of the body, jaw defection often involves dental and periodontal tissues, which coloniz.d a great many oral anaerobic bacteria. As a remarkable degradable material, magnesium has become an excellent candidate for orthopedic appliances recently. But the high degradation rate is still a big problem. Making a biodegradable coating with good biocompatibility to slow down the degeneration rate of magnesium is one of the best methods. However, protective coatings will impair the antibacterial effects of magnesium which is caused by the rise of p H value throughout its degradation. To solve this problem, a series of composite coatings with different amounts of Cu O particles(3, 5 and 7 wt.%) were fabricated on pure magnesium through plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO) to investigate in vitro biocompatibility and the antibacterial abilities against Porphyromonas gingivalis(P. gingivalis). Surface characteriz.tion and degradation behavior of the copper-bearing PEO coatings were also systematically studied. Furthermore,the most optimum coating was also systematically studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and electrochemical corrosion test. Results of the present research revealed that adding proper amount of Cu O into PEO coatings could greatly improve the antibacterial abilities of the PEO coatings. The antibacterial activities of copper-bearing PEO coatings were excellent and revealed concentration-dependent and time-dependent. Biocompatibility of copper-bearing PEO coatings showed that proper amount of Cu could promote cell proliferation. Compared with other PEO coatings in this study, PEO-7 Cu showed some inhibition effects on cell proliferation and adhesion for long-term use. Electrochemical corrosion tests and immersion tests showed that PEO-5 Cu and PEO-7 Cu copper-bearing PEO coatings would provide satisfying corrosion resistance effects, while PEO-3 Cu was poorer than PEO coatings without Cu. Tremendous enhancement of magnetic performance for Sm(CoFeCuz.)z.magnet based on multiscale copper redistribution
