DEAR EDITOR,Pore-forming proteins(PFPs)are widely distributed among all kingdoms of life and can oligomerize to form pores/channels in membrane *** vesicles(EVs)circulate in all biological fluids and can trigger biological responses at a distance,thus emerging as an additional means of intercellular communication through the release of cellular cargo,such as lipids,nucleic acids,metabolites,and *** date,however,the mechanism by which EV contents are released into extracellular space remains *** our previous study on toads(Bombina maxima),we identified a PFP and trefoil factor complexβγ-CAT(βγ-crystallin fused aerolysin-like protein(α-subunit)and trefoil factor(β-subunit)complex,hence namedβγ-CAT),which assembled under strict regulation in response to environmental ***,we observed that the PFPβγ-CAT colocalized with EVs in the skin of *** in *** small EVs(sEVs)isolated from *** dermal fibroblast cells and murine fibroblast cells,we found thatβγ-CAT could specifically target and oligomerize on purified EVs,rather than disrupt membrane integrity,and promote the release of different *** analysis revealed that a secretory PFP drove metabolite release from EVs through channel formation,providing novel clues for the delivery of EV content into extracellular space.

Enhanced photocatalytic properties of N–P co-doped TiO_(2) nanosheets with {001} facets

Nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)co-doped anatase TiO_(2) nanosheets were realized by low-temperature self-doping N-TiO_(2) followed by high-temperature P doping with foreign *** is found that P doping process can maintain good TiO_(2) nanosheets morphology with exposed{001}*** state of dopants indicates that N and P atoms replace O on O sites in TiO_(2) *** with pure TiO_(2) and N-doped TiO_(2),N-P codoped TiO_(2) nanosheets exhibits stronger optical absorption and higher degradation rate of dye molecules in visible light *** enhanced photocatalytic properties are attributed to two *** one hand,N-P co-doping can effectively reduce band gap of TiO_(2) from 3.20 to 2.48 eV,leading to an enhancement of the absorption in visible light *** the other hand,the presence of exposed{001}facets of TiO_(2) nanosheets can induce the effective sepa-ration of photogenerated electrons and holes in reaction.

Geochemical Characteristics and Sources of Ore-forming Fluids of the Mayuan Pb-Zn Deposit,Nanzheng,Shaanxi,China

The Mayuan stratabound Pb-Zn deposit in Nanzheng,Shaanxi Province,is located in the northern margin of the yangtze Plate,in the southern margin of the Beiba *** orebodies are stratiform and hosted in breciated dolostone of the Sinian Dengying *** ore minerals are primarily sphalerite and galena,and the gangue minerals comprise of dolomite,quartz,barite,calcite and solid *** inclusions from ore-stage quartz and calcite have homogenization tempreatures from 98 to 337℃ and salinities from 7.7 wt%to 22.2 wt%（NaCl equiv.）.The vapor phase of the inclusions is mainly composed of CH_4 with minor CO_2 and H_*** δD_（fluid） values of fluid inclusions in quartz and calcite display a range from-68‰ to-113‰（SMOW）,and the δ^（18）O_（fluid）values calculated from δ^（18）O_（quartz） and δ^（18）O_（calcite） values range from 4.5‰ to 16.7‰（SMOW）.These data suggest that the ore-forming fluids may have been derived from evaporitic sea water that had reacted with organic *** δ^（13）C_（CH4） values of CH_4 in fluid inclusions range from-37.2‰ to-21.0‰（PDB）,suggesting that the CH_4 in the ore-forming fluids was mainly derived from organic ***,together with the abundance of solid bitumen in the ores,suggest that organic matter played an important role in mineralization,and that the thermochemical sulfate reduction（TSR） was the main mechanism of sulfide *** Mayuan Pb-Zn deposit is a carbonate-hosted epigenetic deposit that may be classified as a Mississippi Valley type（MVT） deposit.

Formation of Fe-oxyhydroxides from the East Pacific Rise near latitude 13°N:Evidence from mineralogical and geochemical data

The mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of Fe-oxyhydroxide samples from one dredge station (long. 103°54.48'W, lat. 12°42.30'N, water depth 2655 m) on the East Pacific Rise near lat 13°N were analyzed by XRD, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS. Most Fe-oxyhydroxides are amorphous, with a few sphalerite microlites. In comparison with Fe-oxyhydroxides from other fields, the variable ranges in the chemical composition of Fe-oxyhydroxide samples are very narrow; their Fe, Si, and Mn contents were 39.90%, 8.92%, and 1.59%, respectively; they have high Cu (0.88%―1.85%) and Co (65×10?6―704×10?6) contents, and contain Co+Cu+Zn+Ni> 1.01%. The trace-element (As, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ba, Sr) and major-element (Fe, Ca, Al, Mg) contents of these samples are in the range of hydrothermal sulfide from the East Pacific Rise near 13°N, reflecting that this type of Fe-oxyhydroxide constitutes a secondary oxidation product of hydrothermal sulfide. The Fe-oxyhydroxide samples from one dredge station on the East Pacific Rise near 13°N are lower in ΣREE (5.44×10?6―17.01×10?6), with a distinct negative Ce anomaly (0.12 ― 0.28). The Fe-oxyhydroxide samples have similar chondrite-normalized rare-earth-element (REE) patterns to that of seawater, and they are very different from the REE composition characteristics of hydrothermal plume particles and hydrothermal fluids, showing that the REEs of Fe-oxyhydroxide are a major constituent of seawater and that the Fe-oxyhydroxides can become a sink of REE from seawater. The quick settling of hydrothermal plume particles resulted in the lower REE content and higher Mn content of these Fe-oxyhydroxides, which are captured in part of the V and P from seawater by adsorption. The Fe-oxyhydroxides from one dredge station on the East Pacific Rise near 13°N were formed by secondary oxidation in a low temperature, oxygenated environment. The high-efficient degrading ability of Fe BC amorphous ribbons toward acid orange 7(AO7)via redox reactions is reported and compared with that of Fe PC amorphous *** time required for degrading50%of AO7 using Fe BC amorphous ribbons is only 1/3 of that using Fe PC amorphous *** the Fe BC amorphous matrix,galvanic cell structures are formed between the Fe-B and Fe-C bonds because of the large difference in their bonding strengths,which contributes to the low reaction activation energy and the high degrading efficiency of Fe BC amorphous *** extremely long service life of Fe BC amorphous ribbons comes from the progressive formation of 3 D porous nanosheet networks that allow more efficient mass transport and a larger specific surface *** Fe BC amorphous ribbons show a satisfying degrading ability in not only acidic but also neutral and weak alkaline AO7 *** work provides an effective and environmental-friendly material for degrading azo dyes.

Preparation and characterization of bioactive glass tablets and evaluation of bioactivity and cytotoxicity in vitro

In this study, the SiO2eCaOeP2O5 ternary component of bioactive glass particles were successfullysynthesized by sol-gel method, then the bioactive glass particles were pressed into tablets with drypressing molding technology. The physicochemical structure, in-vitro bioactivity and biocompatibility ofBG tablets were characterized by various methods, such as XRD、SEM、FTIR, etc. The results showedthat the sol-gel bioactive glass particle was distinguished with its amorphous structure and *** being soaked in Tris-Hcl solution for 15 d, the bioactive glass tablets didn't collapse. Also, themineralization assay in vitro showed that the bioactive glass tablets had good capability of inducing theformation of hydroxycarbonate apatite (HCA) after being immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF). Inaddition, the cytotoxicity assay indicated that the osteoblast (MC3T3) grew well on the surface ofbioactive glass tablets. According to the above results, the bioactive glass tablets presented good mechanicalstrength, excellent apatite-forming activity and high biocompatibility, which demonstratedtheir potential applications in the field of bone defect repairing.

Van der Waals Epitaxy of Anatase TiO2 on mica and Its Application as Buffer Layer

MICAtronics, based on the functional oxide/mica heterostructures, has recently attracted much attention due to its potential applications in transparent, flexible electronics and devices. However, the weak van der Waals interaction decreases the tolerable lattice mismatch and thus limits the species of function oxides that are able to be epitaxially grown on mica. We successfully fabricate relatively high-quality epitaxial anatase TiO2 thin films on mica substrates. Structural analyses reveal that the carefully chosen growth temperature(650℃) and suitable crystalline phase(anatase phase) of TiO2 are the key issues for this van der Waals epitaxy. Moreover, as a buffer layer, the TiO2 layer successfully suppresses the decomposition of BiFeO3 and the difficulty of epitaxial growth of BiFeO3 is decreased. Therefore, relatively high-quality anatase TiO2 is proved to be an effective buffer layer for fabricating more functional oxides on mica.

Honeycomb-like MXene/NiFeP_(x)–NC with“continuous”single-crystal enabling high activity and robust durability in electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reactions

The development of low-cost,stable,and robust non-noble metal catalysts for water oxidation is a pivotal challenge for sustainable hydrogen production through electrocatalytic water ***,such catalysts suffer from high overpotential and sluggish kinetics in oxygen evolution reactions(OERs).Herein,we report a“continuous”single-crystal honeycomb-like MXene/NiFeP_(x)–N-doped carbon(NC)heterostructure,in which ultrasmall NiFeP_(x)nanoparticles(NPs)encapsulated in the NC are tightly anchored on a layered ***,this MXene/NiFeP_(x)–NC delivers outstanding OER catalytic performance,which stems from“continuous”single-crystal characteristics,abundant active sites derived from the ultrasmall NiFeP_(x)NPs,and the stable honeycomb-like heterostructure with an open *** experimental results are rationalized theoretically(by density functional theory(DFT)calculations),which suggests that it is the unique MXene/NiFeP_(x)–NC heterostructure that promotes the sluggish OER,thereby enabling superior durability and excellent activity with an ultralow overpotential of 240 mV at a current density of 10 mA×cm^(−2).

Rare-earth coordination polymer micro/nanomaterials: Preparation, properties and applications

Rare-earth coordination polymers (RECPs), as a family member of coordination polymers (CPs), have been prepared and studied widely. Thanks to their characteristic properties and functions, RECPs have already been used in various application fields ranging from catalysis to drug delivery. In recent years, CPs with tunable morphologies and sizes have drawn increasing interest and attractive attention. This review presents the recent research progress of RECP micro/nanomaterials, and emphasizes the preparation, properties and broad applications of these fascinating materials.
