The present study evaluated the effect of Lithovit-Amino25 on the nutrient profile and heavy metal composition of Pleurotus *** product was tested in two doses applied at three different timings:T2:3 g kg^(−1)/spawning,T3:3 g kg^(−1)/after first harvest,T4:3 g kg^(−1)/spawning and after first harvest,T5:5 g kg^(−1)/spawning,T6:5 g kg^(−1)/after first harvest,and T7:5 g kg^(−1)/spawning and after first *** to control(T1:non-treated substrate),mushrooms’fibers and carbohydrates increased in all treatments,recording the highest values in T4(4.16%)and T3(18.42%),*** content was higher in mushrooms of substrates treated at spawning,with a 0.33%improvement in *** content decreased in T3,T4,T6,and *** sugars decreased in mushrooms of treated substrates,and glucose was the dominant sugar in *** increased in mushrooms of T3 and ***,iron,and potassium decreased in mushrooms of treated *** decreased in T3,T5,and T7,magnesium increased in T2,and phosphorus increased only in T2 and *** content of all treated mushrooms was in the standard safe limit(el and lead,increased by respective ranges of 2.8−11.88 ppm and 9.1−21 ppm,higher than the safe *** product presented a risk of heavy metal bioaccumulation even with a low dose.

Objective:To investigate the activity of Egyptian propolis extracts(ethanol and water)on cryptosporidiosis in experimentally infected dexamethasone-immunosuppressed ***:A total of 180 male rats(190-220)g BWt were randomly divided into 9 equal groups(G1-G9).Groups of rats were kept as(G1):normal control,(G2-G9):immunosuppressed with dexamethasone and(G3-G9):infected with Cryptosporidium *** from(G4to G9)were given orally ethanol and water extract of propolis(at a dose of 50 mg/kg BWt)and nitazoxanide(standard anti-cryptosporidial drug at a dose of 100 mg/kg BWt)to infected rats with different *** pellets were collected from all groups to monitor oocysts shedding from the 2nd to the 15th day post *** the end of the experiment,blood was collected from all groups for determination of leukogram and serum *** specimens were also examined ***:The highest reduction of oocysts shedding in faecal samples was 88%in rats prophylactically treated with propolis ethanol extract at the 4th dpi,and in rats prophylactically treated with water extract of propolis,was91%at the 6th *** was a marked increase in neutrophils count and α_2-andβ-globulins levels in infected rats treated with both extracts,while a significant decrease was detected in lymphocytes compared to the infected non treated group.β-globulin level markedly increased in the rats administered *** changes were observed in the ileum of rats infected with ***:Egyptian propolis extracts have an activity on cryptosporidiosis in ***,propolis modulated the immunity in dexamethasone-immunosuppressed rats.

The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the uncertainties of in vivo dosimetry measured with diode detectors for conformal radiation therapy techniques in order to define appropriate tolerance levels for pelvis and breast treatment in MEIH （Middle East Institute of Health）. The present work is carried out on 30-472 and 30-473 diode detectors irradiated by 4 and 15MV photon beams of a medical linear accelerator Synergy from elEKTA. Dose computation is performed with Pinnacle 7.4 k treatment planning system. First, an estimation of the uncertainties in a simple geometric case, using a water-equivalent solid phantom is done. Secondly, each treatment parameter such as field size, beam angle, beam modifiers and source-skin distance is evaluated in order to simulate the conformal radiation treatments used in the present institution for the main anatomical sites. Interpretation of entrance dose in-vivo measurements requires the determination of appropriate tolerance levels. Indeed, the authors found that the 5% action level proposed in the literature underestimates the uncertainties in the treatment process. A method for the evaluation of tolerance/action levels related to the different anatomical sites is developed. By the end of the present study the authors have developed an integrated monitoring system that offers accurate information about the dose received by patients.

Objective:To investigate the antioxidant and cytotoxic properties of the most active extracts from Ulva lactuca and Laurencia obtusa against colon and cervical cancer cell ***:The antioxidant radical scavenging activity of the algal extracts was estimated using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl colorimetric ***,the cytotoxic potential of these bioactive extracts was studied against HCT-116 and Hela cells by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide *** healing analysis was adopted to evaluate the antimetastatic effects of protein extracts from both *** cycle analysis was performed by flow cytometry,and apoptotic bodies were detected using 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole fluorescent *** acids of hydrolyzed protein extract were separated and identified chromatographically by high performance liquid ***:The green algae Ulva lactuca had higher lipid content than Laurencia obtusa,whereas the latter had higher protein content with high antioxidant *** extracts had significant dose-and time-dependent cytotoxicity and anti-metastatic activity against HCT-116 *** b extracts of both algae obtained from the chloroform:hexane solvent lipid-free residue caused morphological changes and induced apoptosis of HCT-116 *** analysis revealed that apoptosis induced upon Laurencia obtusa protein b treatment was triggered via the ROS pathway,causing a significant increase in the sub-G_(1) *** and arginine(5.94 and 5.47μM,respectively)were the most common amino acids in Laurencia obtusa protein b ***:Proteins of Laurencia obtusa and Ulva lactuca could be considered as an adjuvant nutraceutical source of pro-apoptotic and anti-metastatic biomolecules against colon cancer.

The current work concerns the optimization process of phenolic compounds solid liquid extraction from grape byproducts at high temperatures and short incubation times. The effect of five experimental parameters (solidliquid ratio, particle size, time, temperature and solvent mixture) mostly believed to affect the extraction process was undertaken. A first response surface methodology experimental design was used to optimize the solid-liquid ratio and milling time parameters. A second design was used for the optimization of the quantitative and qualitative parameters. The quantitative parameters studied are: total phenolic compounds, flavonoid content, total monomeric anthocyanin composition and tannin concentration. The qualitative parameters analyzed are: antiradical activity and antioxidant capacity. The second design was based on the use of time, temperature and solvent mixture as optimization parameters. The assays were first conducted separately revealing the best experimental conditions for the maximization of each response variable alone. A simultaneous response surface methodology of all the responses taken together was then conducted, showing the optimal extraction conditions to be: 93 minutes at 94?C and in 66% ethanol/water solvent. The maximal response values obtained for each parameter are: Total Phenolic Compounds yield (5.5 g GAE/100g DM), Flavonoid Content (5.4 g GAE/100g DM), Total Monomeric Anthocyanin yield (70.3 mg/100g DM), Tannin Concentration (12.3 g/L), Antiradical Activity (67.3%) and Total Antioxidant Capacity (393 mgAAE/L). All of the optimal values were acquired at 3 mL/g solid-liquid ratio and 6.8 min milling time. The obtained extracts could be used as natural bioactive compounds in several industrial applications.

In this study phenolic compounds extraction from grape byproducts was conducted using pure water as a solvent. High temperatures and low time incubation periods were used in the aim of reducing the cost of the process and heightening the phenolic compounds yield. Response surface methodology (RSM) was realized to study the effect of time and temperature on crushed and uncrushed grape pomace. The phenolic content was evaluated considering the quantity (total phenolics (TPC), flavonoids (FC), total monomeric anthocyanins (TMA) and tannins (TC)), and quality (antiradical activity (AA) and antioxidant capacity (AC)) of the extracts. High temperature low time extraction design used in this study was compared to the extraction process at moderate temperatures with relatively long periods of time. This was proved to ameliorate the quantitative extraction of phenolic compounds from grape pomace without affecting their bioactivity. Moreover, multiple response optimization showed the optimal extraction parameters to be 81?C and 140 minutes for the unmilled pomace samples, and 88?C and 5 minutes for the milled. TPC, FC, TMA, TC, AA and AC are almost the same for both optimums. Thus the possibility of replacing the milling process by the extraction time prolongation (for the unmilled pomace) of 135 minutes seems to be very plausible. HPLC analysis showed different quantity and diversity of extracted phenolics for the optimums. However this difference did not significantly affect the overall activity, showing that PC in the different extracts act in complete synergy all together leading to important biological properties. The obtained results using the extraction strategy adopted in this work could lead to several industrial applications.

Sex steroids, also known as sex hormones are synthesized naturally by the gonads (ovaries or testes). The two main classes of sex steroids, androgens and estrogens, are crucial hormones for the proper development and function of the body;they regulate sexual differentiation, the secondary sex characteristics, and sexual habits. They are also well known to influence many common cancers, especially hormonally driven cancers such as breast and prostate cancer. In this report, we review the association of sex steroids with cancer and the potential use of endocrine manipulation in cancer therapy as well as the limitations and challenges faced in this field.
