Predictive value of serum calcium ion level in patients with colorectal cancer:A retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND Serum calcium ion(Ca2+)is an economical and readily available indicator as a routine screening test for hospitalized *** are no studies related to serum Ca2+level and digestive tract *** To evaluate the effectiveness of serum Ca2+level in predicting the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer(CRC).METHODS We retrospectively collected the data of 280 patients diagnosed with CRC who underwent radical surgery at the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xinjiang Medical *** analyzing the clinicopathological features,differences between serum Ca2+concentrations on the first day after surgery were *** used the receiver operating characteristic curve to assess the predictive ability of serum Ca2+for *** analyses were performed using the Kaplan-Meier method,and multivariate Cox proportional risk regression was used to determine association between calibration serum Ca2+levels and CRC survival *** By receiver operating characteristic curve analysis,the ideal threshold value for Ca2+the first postoperative day and delta serum calcium(δCa2+)value were 1.975 and 0.245,*** survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS)were better in both the high Ca2+group and highδCa2+group on the first postoperative *** variables identified through univariate analysis were incorporated into multivariate analysis and showed that tumor differ-entiation(P=0.047),T stage(P=0.019),N stage(P<0.001),nerve vascular invasion(P=0.037),carcinoembryonic antigen(P=0.039),baseline serum Ca2+level(P=0.011),and serum Ca2+level on the first day(P=0.006)were independent predictors of prognosis for patients undergoing feasible radical CRC *** the findings from the multifactorial analysis,we developed a nomogram and the calibration showed a good predictive *** Low serum Ca2+level on the first postoperative day is an independent risk factor for OS and PFS in CRC.

Comparison Between χ~2 and Bayesian Statistics with Considering the Redshift Dependence of Stretch and Color from JLA Data

In this work, we compare the impacts given by χ^2 statistics and Bayesian statistics. Bayesian statistics is a new statistical method proposed by [C. Ma, P. S. Corasaniti, and B. A. Bassett, arXiv:1603.08519[***](2016)]recently, which gives a fully account for the standard-candle parameter dependence of the data covariance matrix. For this two statistical methods, we explore the possible redshift-dependence of stretch-luminosity parameter α and colorluminosity parameter β by using redshift tomography. By constraining the ΛCDM model, we check the consistency of cosmology-fit results given by the SN sample of each redshift bin. We also adopt the linear parametrization to explore the possible evolution of α and β and the deceleration parameter q(z) for CPL, JBP, BA and Wang models. We find that:(i) Using the full JLA data, at high redshift α has a trend of decreasing at more than 1.5σ confidence level(CL),and β has a significant trend of decreasing at more than 19σ CL.(ii) Compared with χ^2 statistics(constant α, β) and Bayesian statistics(constant α, β), Bayesian statistics(linear α and β) yields a larger best-fit value of fractional matter density ?m0 from JLA+CMB+GC data, which is much closer to slightly deviates from the best-fit result given by other cosmological observations.(iii) The figure of merit(FoM) given by JLA+CMB+GC data from Bayesian statistics is also larger than the FoM from χ^2 statistics, which indicates that former statistics has a better accuracy.(iv) q(z) given by both statistical methods favor an eternal cosmic acceleration at 1σ CL.

Diagnosing holographic type dark energy models with the Statefinder hierarchy, composite null diagnostic and w-w′pair

The main purpose of this work is to distinguish various holographic type dark energy （DE） models, including the AHDE, HDE, NADE, and RDE model, by using various diagnostic tools. The first diagnostic tool is the Statefinder hierarchy, in which the evolution of Statefinder hierarchy parmeter S3（1）（z） and S4（1）（z） are studied. The second is composite null diagnostic （CND）, in which the trajectories of {S（1）4, ∈} and {S4（1）, e} are investigated, where ∈ is the fractional growth parameter. The last is w-w′ analysis, where w is the equation of state for DE and the prime denotes derivative with respect to lna. In the analysis we consider two cases： varying current fractional DE density Ωde0 and varying DE model parameter C. We find that：（1） both the Statefinder S4（1） can lead to larger hierarchy and the CND have qualitative impact on AHDE, but only have quantitative impact on HDE. （2） S4（1） differences than S 4（1）, while the CND pair has a stronger ability to distinguish different models than the Statefinder hierarchy. （3） For the case of varying C, the {w, w′} pair has qualitative impact on AHDE; for the case of varying Ωde0, the {w, w′} pair only has quantitative impact; these results are different from the cases of HDE, RDE, and NADE, in which the {w, w′} pair only has quantitative impact on these models. In conclusion, compared with HDE, RDE, and NADE, the AHDE model can be easily distinguished by using these diagnostic tools.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of CNT-Reinforced AZ91D Composites Fabricated by Ultrasonic Processing

Carbon nanotube （CNT）-reinforced AZ91D alloy composite was fabricated by ultrasonic processing. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the CNTs/AZ91D composites were investigated. Obvious grain refinement was achieved with the addition of 0.5 wt% CNTs. The SEM observation indicated that CNTs were distributed near the grain boundary or around the inter-grain β-Mg17A112 phase. No evident reaction product was found at the interface between CNTs and AZ91D matrix. Compared to the monolithic AZ91D alloy, the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation of the 0.5 wt% CNTs/AZ91D composite were improved significantly. However, the poor interface bonding between CNTs and AZ91D matrix restricted further improvement in mechanical properties.

Tetrasphaera have been recently identified based on the 16S ribosomal RNA(rRNA)gene as among the most abundant polyphosphate-accumulating organisms(PAOs)in global full-scale wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)with enhanced biological phosphorus removal(EBPR).However,it is unclear how Tetrasphaera PAOs are selectively enriched in the context of the EBPR *** this study,an EBPR microbiome enriched with Tetrasphaera(accounting for 40%of 16S sequences on day 113)was built using a top-down design approach featuring multicarbon sources and a low dosage of *** microbiome showed enhanced nutrient removal(phosphorus removal~85%and nitrogen removal~80%)and increased phosphorus recovery(up to 23.2 times)compared with the seeding activated sludge from a local full-scale *** supply of 1 mg·L^(-1)allylthiourea promoted the coselection of Tetrasphaera PAOs and Microlunatus PAOs and sharply reduced the relative abundance of both ammonia oxidizer Nitrosomonas and putative competitors Brevundimonas and Paracoccus,facilitating the establishment of the EBPR *** on 16S rRNA gene analysis,a putative novel PAO species,EBPR-ASV0001,was identified with Tetrasphaera japonica as its closest *** study provides new knowledge on the establishment of a Tetrasphaera-enriched microbiome facilitated by allylthiourea,which can be further exploited to guide future process upgrading and optimization to achieve and/or enhance simultaneous biological phosphorus and nitrogen removal from high-strength wastewater.

五边形石墨烯是一种完全由碳五元环组成的准二维的亚稳态碳结构,在不同载荷作用下其变形破坏机理仍需进一步研究.本文基于ReaxFF反应力场采用分子动力学方法模拟研究了五边形石墨烯的拉伸、剪切和纳米压痕破坏过程,得到了五边形石墨烯的拉伸和剪切应力-应变曲线以及压入载荷-位移曲线,系统分析了五边形石墨烯的变形破坏机理,并验证了五边形石墨烯在不同载荷作用下是否表现出塑性变形特征的一致性问题.研究结果表明,通过拉伸或纳米压入等不同加载方式均可准确测出五边形石墨烯的本征力学性能参数,其杨氏模量265.4~285.1 N/m,与第一性原理计算结果一致.研究还发现,五边形石墨烯在拉伸、剪切和纳米压痕过程中均会出现不可逆的塑性变形特征,而引起塑性变形的原因是由于不可逆的碳五元环向碳多元环结构的转变.以上研究结果可为基于五边形石墨烯的微/纳米机电系统的实际应用提供重要指导.

Application of FLUKA and OpenMC in coupled physics calculation of target and subcritical reactor for ADS

The study of accelerator-driven subcritical reactor systems(ADSs) has been an important research topic in the field of nuclear energy for years. The main code applied in ADS research is MCNPX, which was developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory. We studied the application of the open-source Monte Carlo codes FLUKA and OpenMC to a coupled ADS calculation. The FLUKA code was used to simulate the reaction of highenergy protons with the nucleus of the target material in the ADS, which produces spallation neutrons. Information on the spallation neutrons, such as their energy, position,direction, and weight, can be recorded by a user-defined routine called FLUSCW provided by FLUKA. Then, the information was stored in an external neutron source file in HDF5 format by using a conversion code, as required by the OpenMC calculation. Finally, the fixed-source calculation function of OpenMC was applied to simulate the transport of spallation neutrons and obtain the distribution of the neutron flux in the core region. In the coupled calculation, the high-energy cross-section library JENDL4.0/HE in ACE format produced by NJOY2016 was applied in the OpenMC transport simulation. The OECD–ADS benchmark problem was calculated, and the results were compared with those obtained using MCNPX. It was found that the flux calculations performed by FLUKA–OpenMC and MCNPX were in agreement, so the coupling calculation method for ADS is reasonable and feasible.

Black ring entropy from the Weyl tensor

A black ring is an asymptotically fiat vacuum solution of the n-dimensional Einstein equations with an event horizon of topology S1× Sn-3. In this study, a connection between the black ring entropy and the Weyl tensor Cμνλρ is explored by interpreting the Weyl scalar invariant CμνλρCμνλρ as the entropy density in five-dimensional space-time. It is shown that the proper volume integral of CμνλρCμνλρfor a neutral black ring is proportional to the black ring entropy in the thin-ring limit. Similar calculations are extended to more general cases： a black string, a black ring with two angular momenta, and a black ring with a cosmological constant. The proportionality is also found to be valid for these complex black objects at the leading order.
