Kinematic Control of Free Rigid Bodies Using Dual Quaternions

This paper proposes a new type of control laws for free rigid bodies. The start point is the dual quaternion and its characteristics. The logarithm of a dual quaternion is defined, based on which kinematic control laws can be developed. Global exponential convergence is achieved using logarithmic feedback via a generalized proportional control law, and an appropriate Lyapunov function is constructed to prove the stability. Both the regulation and tracking problems are tackled. Omnidirectional control is discussed as a case study. As the control laws can handle the interconnection between the rotation and translation of a rigid body, they are shown to be more applicable than the conventional method.

To the Editor:We read with great interest the article by Schulze et ***“Robotic surgery and liver transplantation:A single-center experience of 501 robotic donor hepatectomies”[1].It is the first single-center report including over 500 fully robotic donor *** the donors,the overall complication rate was 6.4%(n=32).Postoperative self-limiting bleeding(0.4%)and bile leakage from the resection plane(1.8%)were rare.

Analysis of Absolute Stability for Time-delay Teleoperation Systems

In this paper, a new bilateral control algorithm based on absolute stability theory is put forward, which aims at the time-delay teleoperation system with force feedback from the slave directly. In the new control algorithm, the delay-dependent stability, instead of delay-independent stability, is taken as the aim of control design. It improves the transparency of the system at the price of unnecessary stability. With this algorithm, the time-delay teleoperation systems have good transparency and stability. A simulation system is established to verify the effect of this algorithm.

Tool-path generation for industrial robotic surface-based application

Industrial robots are widely used in various applications such as machining, painting, and welding. There is a pressing need for a fast and straightforward robot programming method, especially for surface-based tasks. At present, these tasks are time-consuming and expensive, and it requires an experienced and skilled operator to program the robot for a specific task. Hence, it is essential to automate the tool-path generation in order to eliminate the manual planning. This challenging research has attracted great attention from both industry and academia. In this paper, a tool-path generation method based on a mesh model is introduced. The bounding box tree and kdtree are adopted in the algorithm to derive the tool path. In addition, the algorithm is integrated into an offline robot programming system offering a comprehensive solution for robot modeling, simulation, as well as tool-path generation. Finally, a milling experiment is performed by creating tool paths on the surface thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of the system.

The Role of Mold Temperature on Morphology and Mechanical Properties of PE Pipe Produced by Rotational Shear

The role of mold temperature on the morphology and properties of rotational shearing polyethylene(PE)pipes was studied via a self-.developed rotational shear system(RSS).The result indicated that when the mold temperature was 150℃,the hoop tensile strength and Vicat softening temperature were enhanced rapidly,which were 383.6%and 137.9%higher than those of the conventional PE pipes,*** and crystal structure studies by SEM and DSC revealed that once the rotational shear was applied,the shish-kebab structure began to *** the increase of the mold temperature,due to the relaxation of most of the oriented molecular chains,the preservation of shish-kebab structure became *** the mold temperature was 190℃,only the inner layer of the pipes,where the cooling rate was the largest,could preserve the shish-kebab *** to WAXD,there was less shish structure,and the growth of kebab was distorted in the inner layer of the pipes at 210℃.The result of SAXS suggested that the length of shish changed most within the temperature range from 170℃to 190。*** results of DSC and WAXD showed less change in crystallinity and degree of orientation between the two *** can be concluded that the reduction of shish length leads to a decrease in mechanical properties and heat-resistance.

BACKGROUND Accurate assessment of the quality of academic journals is of great *** Journal Impact Factor(JIF),calculated by Clarivate and based upon the Web of Science literature database,and CiteScore(CS),developed by Elseiver and based upon the Scopus database,have enjoyed high uptake worldwide,efforts continue towards creation of other scientometric indexes that will provide evergreater qualitative insights into journal *** efforts have yielded the newly-launched Journal Article Influence Index(JAII),which is based on the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA)database,an open multidisciplinary citation analysis database based on artificial intelligence *** To evaluate and summarize the similarities and differences between JAII and JIF/CS as journal evaluation indicators,and provide an intuitive method for visual representation of the related *** We searched the Journal Citation Reports to obtain the 2021 JIF list,downloaded the CS list updated in July on the Scopus website,and collected the comprehensive list of 2022 JAIIs from the RCA database(***).RESULTS Our research results revealed that by breaking through the time limit of mainstream journalevaluation methods, the JAII is able to perform well in data reliability, establishing its benefit as acomplementary scientometric index to JIF and *** provides comprehensive assessment of the quality and performance of journals.

Effects of sediment and its re-suspension on the growth of Vallisneria asiatica Miki

Aquatic macrophytic growth and its distribution in eutrophic lakes are described in relation to its sediment type and irradiance. Hence, it is necessary to characterize the response of macrophytic growth to lake sediment and its re-suspension. We conducted two independent experiments to measure the effects of sediment and its re-suspension on the growth of Vallisneria asiatica Miki. Based on our study, we conclude that the amount of total biomass of V. asiatica is related, in important ways, to the type of sediment and its re-suspension. According to our comparison, plants and biomass cultured on lake sediments are 2.1 times and 1.5 times greater than that on brown clay from nearby places beside Lake Taihu. The number of plants and the amount of biomass in a turbid water column are smaller than those in a clear water column. The results indicate that the nutrient-rich lake sediments have promoted the growth of V. asiatica, while the re-suspension of the sediment leads to a high turbid level and low light penetration which has a negative impact on the growth of V. asiatica.
