Andrographolide effect on both Plasmodium falciparum infected and noninfected RBCs membranes

objective: To explore whether its antiplasmodium effect of andrographolide is attributed to its plausible effect on the plasma membrane of both Plasmodium falciparum infected and noninfected RBCs. Methods: Anti-plasmodium effect of andrographolide against Plasmodium falciparum strains was screened using the conventional malaria drug sensitivity assay. The drug was incubated with uninfected RBCs to monitor its effect on their morphology, integrity and osmotic fragility. It was incubated with the plasmodium infected RBCs to monitor its effect on the parasite induced permeation pathways. Its effect on the potential of merozoites to invade new RBCs was tested using merozoite invasion assay. Results: It showed that at andrographolide was innocuous to RBCs at concentrations approach its therapeutic level against plasmodia. Nevertheless, this inertness was dwindled at higher concentrations. Conclusions: In spite of its success to inhibit plasmodium induced permeation pathway and the potential of merozoites to invade new RBCs, its anti-plasmodium effect can't be attributed to these functions as they were attained at concentrations higher than what is required to eradicate the parasite. Consequently, other mechanisms may be associated with its claimed actions.

Folding model calculations for ~6He+^(12)C elastic scattering

In the framework of the double folding model, we used the α＋2n and di-triton configurations for the nuclear matter density of the ~6He nucleus to generate the real part of the optical potential for the system ~6He＋^（12）C. As an alternative, we also use the high energy approximation to generate the optical potential for the same system. The derived potentials are employed to analyze the elastic scattering differential cross section at energies of 38.3, 41.6 and 82.3 Me V/u. For the imaginary part of the potential we adopt the squared Woods-Saxon form. The obtained results are compared with the corresponding measured data as well as with available results in the literature. The calculated total reaction cross sections are investigated and compared with the optical limit Glauber model description.

In this paper,the assumptions implicited in Leveque’s approximation are re-examined,and the variation of the temperature and the thickness of the boundary layer were illustrated using the developed *** defining a similarity variable,the governing equations are reduced to a dimensionless equation with an analytic solution in the entrance *** report gives justification for the similarity variable via scaling analysis,details the process of converting to a similarity form,and presents a similarity *** analytical solutions are then checked against numerical solution programming by FoRTRAN code obtained via using Runge-Kutta fourth order(RK4)***,other important thermal results obtained from this analysis,such as;approximate Nusselt number in the thermal entrance region was discussed in detail.A comparison with the previous study available in literature has been done and found an excellent agreement with the published data.

Hybrid Trainable System for Writer Identification of Arabic Handwriting

Writer identification(WI)based on handwritten text structures is typically focused on digital characteristics,with letters/strokes representing the information acquired from the current research in the integration of individual writing habits/*** studies have indicated that a word’s attributes contribute to greater recognition than the attributes of a character or *** a result of the complexity of Arabic handwriting,segmenting and separating letters and strokes from a script poses a challenge in addition to WI *** this work,we propose new texture features for WI based on *** histogram of oriented gradient(HoG)features are modified to extract good features on the basis of the histogram of the orientation for different angles of *** fusion of these features with the features of convolutional neural networks(CNNs)results in a good vector of powerful ***,we reduce the features by selecting the best ones using a genetic *** normalization method is used to normalize the features and feed them to an artificial neural network *** results show that the proposed augmenter enhances the results for HoG features and ResNet50,as well as the proposed model,because the amount of data is *** a large data volume helps the system to retrieve extensive information about the nature of writing *** affective result of the proposed model for whole paragraphs,lines,and sub words is obtained using different models and then compared with those of the CNN and *** whole paragraphs produce the best results in all models because they contain rich information and the model can utilize numerous features for different *** HoG and CNN features achieve 94.2%accuracy for whole paragraphs with augmentation,83.2%of accuracy for lines,and 78%accuracy for sub ***,this work provides a system that can identify writers on the basis of their handwriting and builds a powerful model that can help

Analysis of strong refractive effect within 11Li projectile structure

Statistical Analysis of a Class of Secure Relay Assisted Cognitive Radio Networks

In this paper, the problem of communication security in an underlay wiretap cognitive radio network is addressed and statistically investigated. We rely on a simple dual-hop communication model of decode and forward relay assisted network. Regarding the interference from primary users, interference power and maximum transmit power constraints; this network is subjected to multiple eavesdropping attacks which employ a specific interception strategy. To confound this eavesdropping, proposed selection schemes are exploited that aim at maximizing the minimum of the dual secrecy rates in order to strengthen the physical layer security. Moreover, exact and asymptotic closed form expressions are derived for specific performance metrics over independent and identically distributed Rayleigh fading channels. At high signal to interference noise ratio(SINR), tangential system bounds are also derived and discussed. Monte Carlo simulation results emphasize our assumption. It is found out that at the full diversity of the system, any additional node that enters the cooperative eavesdropping system becomes significantly of no effect.

A New Segmentation Framework for Arabic Handwritten Text Using Machine Learning Techniques

The writer identification(WI)of handwritten Arabic text is now of great concern to intelligence agencies following the recent attacks perpetrated by known Middle East terrorist *** is also a useful instrument for the digitalization and attribution of old text to other authors of historic studies,including old national and religious *** this study,we proposed a new affective segmentation model by modifying an artificial neural network model and making it suitable for the binarization stage based on *** modified method is combined with a new effective rotation model to achieve an accurate segmentation through the analysis of the histogram of binary ***,propose a new framework for correct text rotation that will help us to establish a segmentation method that can facilitate the extraction of text from its *** projections and the radon transform are used and improved using machine learning based on a co-occurrence matrix to produce binary *** training stage involves taking a number of images for model *** images are selected randomly with different angles to generate four classes(0–90,90–180,180–270,and 270–360).The proposed segmentation approach achieves a high accuracy of 98.18%.The study ultimately provides two major contributions that are ranked from top to bottom according to the degree of *** proposed method can be further developed as a new application and used in the recognition of handwritten Arabic text from small documents regardless of logical combinations and sentence construction.

Neglected traumatic hip dislocation: Influence of the increased intracapsular pressure

AIM To investigate that the increased intracapsular pressure, during the delay period, can interrupt the blood flow to the femoral *** An observational retrospective study included a group of 17 patients with traumatic hip dislocation, their ages at time of injury averaged 26(range from 3 to 70) years. outcomes were assessed clinically and radiographically at a period averaged 11.5(range from 4 to 20) *** Minor trauma caused dislocation in seven and severe trauma in ten patients. All dislocations were posterior, six isolated dislocation and 11 were associated with other injuries. The negligence period averaged 2.5(ranged from 1 to 4) d. At the latest visit, the radiography revealed normal hip in 11 and avascular necrosis(AVN) in six patients. Clinically, eight patients were rated as excellent, three good, three fair and three *** We believe the factors that contribute to increased intracapsular pressure also increase the influence of delayed reduction toward the development of AVN.

Healing of subcutaneous tendons: Influence of the mechanical environment at the suture line on the healing process

Tendon ruptures remain a significant musculoskeletal injury. Despite advances in surgical techniques and procedures, traditional repair techniques maintain a high incidence of rerupture or tendon elongation. Mechanical loading and biochemical signaling both control tissue healing. This has led some researchers to consider using a technique based on tension regulation at the suture line for obtaining good healing. However, it is unknown how they interact and to what extent mechanics control biochemistry. This review will open the way for understanding the interplay between mechanical loading and the process of tendon healing.
