Two rectangular-shaped lakes,Lake Hulun and Lake Buir,located at the boundary between China and Mongolia,only c.75 km apart and therefore experiencing similar wind fields,have been studied based on satellite images and field surveys in order to compare their geomorphological and sedimentological *** wind-driven hydrodynamics,which have a significant effect on the development of littoral landforms and on sediment distribution,have been discussed for the two similar lakes that experienced a prevailing wind perpendicular to their long axis.A conceptual model related to wind-driven water bodies and sediment distribution is ***-influenced to wave-dominated deltas,beaches,spits,and eolian dune deposits develop around these two lakes,with a strikingly similar distribution *** features locally inform the longshore drift and help reconstruct the water circulation induced by wind *** the NW prevailing wind regime,the spits developed on the SW coast with a NW—SE extension,which was influenced by the NW—SE longshore *** same influence was observed in the delta extension in the NE *** differences lie in the presence of fan deltas in the NW region of Lake Hulun,but not in Lake ***,the width of the beach and eolian deposits on the downwind coast of Lake Hulun is three times greater than that of Lake Buir which were caused by the differences in sediment supply and wind fetch between the two *** Hulun and Lake Buir provide two reliable examples to understand the relationship among the wind field,provenance,hydrodynamics,landforms,and asymmetrical distribution of clastics in elongated *** also represent relevant modern analogs,which may also be of guiding significance to wind-driven sand body prediction in lacustrine basins.

Modulating electronic structure of CoSe_(2) by Ni doping for efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction

Developing robust and efficient non-noble electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is paramount for sustainably producing hydrogen fuel from electrochemical water *** morphology and chemical composition are significant for fabricating electrocatalysts with superior activity and ***,novel Ni-doped CoSe_(2)composites are prepared by a facile one-step hydrothermal *** optimized 1T-phase Co_(0.75)Ni_(0.25)Se_(2)shows excellent HER performance,exhibiting overpotential of as low as 172 mV at 10 mA·cm^(–2) and a small Tafel slope of 32.4 mV·dec^(–1) in 0.5 mol·L^(-1) H_(2)SO_(4)solution,approaching that of com-mercial Pt/C electrocatalyst(30.7 mV·dec^(–1)).Furthermore,the electrocatalyst possesses superior long-term stability under acidic *** measurements indicate that the homogeneous nanoparticles morphology,the unique electronic structure,and the 1T-phase are responsible for its superior HER *** work comes up with a promising strategy in synthesizing other earth-abundant and low-cost catalysts for industrial applications.

Miniature Boat Fabrication with Striking Loading Capacity in Seawater from Hydrophobic Steel Mesh

A superhydrophobic steel mesh film was prepared by combination of macro-scale rough surface and low surface energy material treatment through a facile coating method. The contact angle for seawater is measured to be as high as 130.16°. A reformed Cassie-Baxter equation was applied for the theoretical predictions of this novel material for the first time. Good agreement between the predictions and experiments was obtained. The loading capacities of these boats, fabricated from the resulting hydrophobic steel meshes, were also characterized. The highest loading weight about 17.50 g was obtained by the steel mesh treated by 2.0wt% (heptadecafluoro-1,1,2,2,-tetradecyl)trimethoxysilane solution. The striking loading capacity of this miniature boat may be attributed to the air film trapped around the mesh surface. This novel superhydrophobic steel mesh material have wide applications on medical materials, marine materials and smart materials.

Are Solar Active Regions Born with Neutralized Currents?

Solar active regions(ARs)are formed by the emergence of current-carrying magnetic flux tubes from below the *** for an isolated flux tube the direct and return currents flowing along the tube should balance with each other,it remains controversial whether such a neutralization of currents is also maintained during the emergence *** we present a systematic survey of the degrees of the current neutralization in a large sample of flux-emerging ARs which appeared on the solar disk around the central meridian from 2010 to *** vector magnetograms taken by Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory are employed to calculate the distributions of the vertical current density at the *** on the main phase of flux emergence,i.e.,the phase in which the total unsigned magnetic flux is continuously increased,we statistically examined the ratios of direct to return currents in all the *** a large-sample statistical study suggests that most of the ARs were born with currents close to *** degree of current neutralization seems to be not affected by the active-region size,the active-region growing rate,and the total unsigned *** only correlation of significance as found is that the stronger the magnetic field nonpotentiality is,the further the AR deviates from current neutrality,which supports previous event studies that eruption-productive ARs often have non-neutralized currents.

Comparative analysis of DNA-SIP and magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI) on unraveling dimethoate degraders

Microorganisms are crucial in the bioremediation of organophosphorus pesticides. However, most functional microorganisms (> 99%) are yet to be cultivated. This study applied two cultivation-independent approaches, DNA-SIP and magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI), to identify the functional microorganisms in degrading dimethoate in agricultural soils. MMI identified five dimethoate degraders: Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus, whereas DNA-SIP identified three dimethoate degraders: Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus. Also, MMI showed higher resolution than DNA-SIP in identifying functional microorganisms. Two organic phosphohydrolase (OPH) genes: ophC2 and ophB, were involved in dimethoate metabolism, as revealed by DNA-SIP and MMI. The degradation products of dimethoate include omethoate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorothioate, N-methyl-2-sulfanylacetamide, O,O-diethyl S-hydrogen phosphorodithioate, O,O,O-trimethyl thiophosphate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorodithioate, and O,O,O-trimethyl phosphoric. This study emphasizes the feasibility of using SIP and MMI to explore the functional dimethoate degraders, expanding our knowledge of microbial resources with cultivation-independent approaches.

Nonlinear Characteristic Analysis of Gas-Interconnected Quasi-Zero Stiffness Pneumatic Suspension System:A Theoretical and Experimental Study

Because of significantly changed load and complex and variable driving road conditions of commercial vehicles,pneumatic suspension with lower natural frequencies is widely used in commercial vehicle suspension *** ever,traditional pneumatic suspension system is hardly to respond the greatly changed load of commercial vehicles To address this issue,a new Gas-Interconnected Quasi-Zero Stiffness Pneumatic Suspension(GIQZSPS)is presented in this paper to improve the vibration isolation performance of commercial vehicle suspension systems under frequent load *** new structure adds negative stiffness air chambers on traditional pneumatic suspension to reduce the natural frequency of the *** can adapt to different loads and road conditions by adjusting the solenoid valves between the negative stiffness air ***,a nonlinear mechanical model including the dimensionless stiffness characteristic and interconnected pipeline model is derived for GIQZSPS *** the nonlinear mechanical model of GIQZSPS system,the force transmissibility rate is chosen as the evaluation index to analyze ***,a testing bench simulating 1/4 GIQZSPS system is designed,and the testing analysis of the model validation and isolating performance is carried *** results show that compared to traditional pneumatic suspension,the GIQZSPS designed in the article has a lower natural *** the system can achieve better vibration isolation performance under different load states by switching the solenoid valves between air chambers.

CO_(2) capture by modified clinoptilolite and its regeneration performance

This study focuses on CO_(2) capture by pressure swing adsorption(PSA),with modified clinoptilolite as the *** clinoptilolite is modified by roasting,by acid pickling,by a combination of acid pickling and roasting,and by ion *** by acid pickling-roasting and by ion exchange are found to give the highest CO_(2) adsorption capacities,of 730 mL/g and 876.7 mL/g,*** is found that regeneration of clinoptilolite by a combination of vacuum desorption and heating enables recovery of as much as 89%of its previous CO_(2) adsorption *** examine the CO_(2) adsorption capacity of clinoptilolite when applied to mixed gas,a simulated coking exhaust containing 12%CO_(2) and 4%O_(2) is used,and it is found that ion exchange modified clinoptilolite achieves a CO_(2) removal efficiency of 92.5%.A BET test reveals that acid pickling-roasting and Na^(+) modification enhance the porosity of clinoptilolite,thereby improving its adsorption *** work demonstrates the feasibility of applying modified clinoptilolite as an effective adsorbent for COO_(2)capture,providing a promising tool for dealing with greenhouse gases.

A hybrid WUDT-NAFnet for simultaneous source data deblending

Simultaneous source technology,which reduces seismic survey time and improves the quality of seismic data by firing more than one source with a narrow time interval,is compromised by the massive blended ***,deblending algorithms have been developed to separate this ***,deep learning(DL)has been proved its great potential in suppressing the *** most popular DL method employs neural network as a filter to attenuate the blended noise in an iterative estimation and subtraction framework(IESF).However,there are still amplitude distortion and blended noise residual problems,especially when dealing with weak signal submerged in strong *** address these problems,we propose a hybrid WUDT-NAFnet,which contains two *** first network is a wavelet based U-shape deblending transformer network(WUDTnet),incorporated into IESF as a robust regularization term to iteratively separate the blended *** second network is a nonlinear activate free network(NAFnet)designed to recover the event amplitude and further suppress the weak noise residual in *** the hybrid network,the blended noise can be separated purposefully and *** using synthetic and field seismic data demonstrate that the WUDTNAFnet outperforms traditional curvelet transform(CT)based method and the deblending transformer(DT)model in terms of ***,for field applications,the data augmentation method of bicubic interpolation is applied to mitigate the feature difference between synthetic and field ***,the trained network exhibits strong signal preservation ability in numerical field example without requiring additional training.

Strengthening-softening transition and maximum strength in Schwarz nanocrystals

Recently,a Schwarz crystal structure with curved grain boundaries(GBs)constrained by twin-boundary(TB)networks was discovered in nanocrystalline Cu through experiments and atomistic *** Cu with nanosized Schwarz crystals exhibited high strength and excellent thermal ***,the grainsize effect and associated deformation mechanisms of Schwarz nanocrystals remain ***,we performed large-scale atomistic simulations to investigate the deformation behaviors and grain-size effect of nanocrystalline Cu with Schwarz *** simulations showed that similar to regular nanocrystals,Schwarz nanocrystals exhibit a strengthening-softening transition with decreasing grain *** critical grain size in Schwarz nanocrystals is smaller than that in regular nanocrystals,leading to a maximum strength higher than that of regular *** simulations revealed that the softening in Schwarz nanocrystals mainly originates from TB migration(or detwinning)and annihilation of GBs,rather than GB-mediated processes(including GB migration,sliding and diffusion)dominating the softening in regular *** analyses of simulation data further showed that compared with those in regular nanocrystals,the GB-mediated processes in Schwarz nanocrystals are suppressed,which is related to the low volume fraction of amorphous-like GBs and constraints of TB *** smaller critical grain size arises from the suppression of GB-mediated processes.
