Objective: Migra.ne, a.common chronic neurologica. disorder involves a.pa.hophysiology ha.ing both multiple genetic a.d environmenta. fa.tors. 5, 10-Methylenetetra.ydrofola.e reducta.e (MTHFR) involved in fola.e meta.olism ha. a. importa.t role in a.cell for fola.e a.a.la.ility which is critica. for DNa.integrity. Methods: This ca.e-control study conducted in Srina.a., Ka.hmir (North India. between 2013 a.d 2015 wa. designed to eva.ua.e risk induced due to MTH-FR 677C>T gene polymorphisms to contribute in susceptibility for migra.ne in Ka.hmir popula.ion (North India.. Using the polymera.e cha.n rea.tion-restriction fra.ment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method, we tested the genotype distribution of 100 migra.ne pa.ients in compa.ison with 120 hea.thy migra.ne-free controls from the sa.e geogra.hica. region. Results: The genotypic frequencies of the pa.ients a.d controls were not significa.tly a.socia.ed (p > 0.05). Higher distribution of TT muta.t genotype wa. found in controls a. a.a.nst the ca.es (5% versus 1%) but a.socia.ion wa. not significa.t (p > 0.05). Per copy frequency of T a.lele (Va.) wa. found to be 0.14 in ca.es versus 0.19 in controls (p 0.05). Simila. scena.io wa. observed when migra.ne without a.ra.wa. compa.ed with controls where va.ia.t genotype (16% ca.es versus 39.0% controls: p > 0.05) a. well a. a.lele frequency wa. found to be less in ca.es (ca.es 0.15 versus 0.19 controls: p > 0.05). Conclusions: We conclude tha. MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism ha. no role in predisposition to the migra.ne in our popula.ion a.d ca.not serve a. a.predictive fa.tor for the risk of migra.ne.

Ba.kground: Flow FL-100 is a.tra.scra.ia. direct current stimula.ion (tDCS) device self-a.ministered by a.pa.ient a. home in combina.ion with a.softwa.e a.plica.ion delivered wellbeing beha.iour thera.y tra.ning. tDCS ha. evidence of effectiveness in trea.ing symptoms of depression. Purpose/a.m: This post ma.keting study eva.ua.ed the effect of Flow on depression for prima.y ca.e genera. pra.tice pa.ients with depression symptoms. Methods: Open-la.el pa.ient cohort design with no control group. Inclusion criteria.were a.ed 18 yea.s or over a.d reporting depression symptoms. Pa.ticipa.ts self-a.ministered five 30 minute tDCS sessions per week for the first three weeks, a.d then 3 sessions per week following this. Three, six a.d ten week a.sessment with pa.ticipa.t self-report mea.ure: Montgomery- Åsberg Depression Ra.ing Sca.e (Ma.RS-S). Results: Ma.RS-S remission ra.es were between 29% - 30% a. three weeks, 33% - 34% a. six-weeks a.d 50% a. 10-weeks trea.ment. There wa. a.significa.t improvement in Ma.RS-S with la.ge effect sizes a. a.l time points. Conclusions: Flow tDCS ca. be delivered through a.prima.y hea.thca.e genera. pra.tice service a.d pa.ients will choose to use. Flow tDCS provides a. effective depression trea.ment in a.dition a.d a. a. a.terna.ive to a.tidepressa.ts a.d psychothera.y. tDCS ha. evidence a. a. effective depression trea.ment, a.d the widesprea. a.a.la.ility of tDCS in prima.y ca.e genera. pra.tice should be considered.
