Anisotropic time-dependent behaviors of shale under direct shearing and associated empirical creep models

Understanding the anisotropic creep behaviors of shale under direct shearing is a challenging *** this context,we conducted shear-creep and steady-creep tests on shale with five bedding orientations (i.e.0°,30°,45°,60°,and 90°),under multiple levels of direct shearing for the first *** results show that the anisotropic creep of shale exhibits a significant stress-dependent *** a low shear stress,the creep compliance of shale increases linearly with the logarithm of time at all bedding orientations,and the increase depends on the bedding orientation and creep *** high shear stress conditions,the creep compliance of shale is minimal when the bedding orientation is 0°,and the steady-creep rate of shale increases significantly with increasing bedding orientations of 30°,45°,60°,and 90°.The stress-strain values corresponding to the inception of the accelerated creep stage show an increasing and then decreasing trend with the bedding orientation.A semilogarithmic model that could reflect the stress dependence of the steady-creep rate while considering the hardening and damage process is *** model minimizes the deviation of the calculated steady-state creep rate from the observed value and reveals the behavior of the bedding orientation's influence on the steady-creep *** applicability of the five classical empirical creep models is quantitatively *** shows that the logarithmic model can well explain the experimental creep strain and creep rate,and it can accurately predict long-term shear creep *** on an improved logarithmic model,the variations in creep parameters with shear stress and bedding orientations are *** abovementioned findings,a mathematical method for constructing an anisotropic shear creep model of shale is proposed,which can characterize the nonlinear dependence of the anisotropic shear creep behavior of shale on the bedding orientation.

In situ digital testing method for quality assessment of soft soil improvement with polyurethane

This study purposes an in situ testing method on quality assessment of soil *** drilling data includes the spatial distribution and in situ strength of untreated and treated soil along three different drillholes measured by on-site drilling monitoring *** factual drilling data can characterize the degree of soil improvement by penetration injection with permeable *** from on-site drilling monitoring shows that the linear zones represent constant drilling speeds shown in the plot of drill bit advancement *** drilling time,which indicates the spatial distributions of soil *** soil profile at the study site is composed of four layers,which includes fill,untreated silty clay,treated silty clay,and mucky *** results of soil profile are verified by the parallel site *** constant drilling speeds profile the coring-resistant strength of drilled *** comparing with the untreated silty clay,the constant drilling speeds of the treated silty clay have been decreased by 13.0-62.8%.Two drilling-speed-based indices of 61.2%and 65.6%are proposed to assess the decreased average drilling speed and the increased in situ strength of treated silty *** tests,*** compressive strength(UCS)test,have been performed with core sample to investigate and characterize in situ strength by comparing that with drilling *** show that the average predicted strengths of treated silty clay are 2.4-6.9 times higher than the average measured strength of untreated silty *** UCS-based indices of 374.5%and 344.2%verified the quality assessment(QA)results by this new in situ *** method provides a cost-effective tool for quality assessment of soil improvement by utilizing the digital drilling data.

Four Late-type Galaxies with Double Radio Lobes and Properties of Such Galaxies

The triggering mechanism for radio lobes from late-type galaxies is not fully *** samples are desired for a thorough investigation and *** utilizing the optical data from the newly released Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument imaging surveys and the radio sources from the NRAO VLA Sky Survey and the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-centimeter,we identify four Late-type Galaxies with double Radio Lobes(La GRLs):j0217-3645,j0947+6220,j1412+3723 and j1736+*** previously known La GRLs,we confirm the correlation between radio power P_(1.4GHz)and stellar mass M_(*)of host ***(25/35)La GRLs belong to the blue cloud galaxies,while the newly identified cases in this work are located within the region of the red *** find a clear correlation between the differential radio power,i.e.,the offset from the P_(1.4GHz)-M_(*)relation,and the galaxy color,indicating that bluer galaxies at a fixed M_(*)tend to host more powerful radio ***,the majority(31/36)of La GRLs are either located in a galaxy group or displaying a disturbed *** suggest that all of the galaxy mass,color and surrounding environment could play important roles in triggering radio lobes in late-type galaxies.

An Improved Image Steganography Security and Capacity Using Ant Colony Algorithm Optimization

This advanced paper presents a new approach to improving image steganography using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm. Image steganography, a technique of embedding hidden information in digital photographs, should ideally achieve the dual purposes of maximum data hiding and maintenance of the integrity of the cover media so that it is least suspect. The contemporary methods of steganography are at best a compromise between these two. In this paper, we present our approach, entitled Ant Colony Optimization (ACO)-Least Significant Bit (LSB), which attempts to optimize the capacity in steganographic embedding. The approach makes use of a grayscale cover image to hide the confidential data with an additional bit pair per byte, both for integrity verification and the file checksum of the secret data. This approach encodes confidential information into four pairs of bits and embeds it within uncompressed grayscale images. The ACO algorithm uses adaptive exploration to select some pixels, maximizing the capacity of data embedding while minimizing the degradation of visual quality. Pheromone evaporation is introduced through iterations to avoid stagnation in solution refinement. The levels of pheromone are modified to reinforce successful pixel choices. Experimental results obtained through the ACO-LSB method reveal that it clearly improves image steganography capabilities by providing an increase of up to 30% in the embedding capacity compared with traditional approaches; the average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is 40.5 dB with a Structural Index Similarity (SSIM) of 0.98. The approach also demonstrates very high resistance to detection, cutting down the rate by 20%. Implemented in MATLAB R2023a, the model was tested against one thousand publicly available grayscale images, thus providing robust evidence of its effectiveness. Copyright © 2024 The Authors. Enhancing Log Anomaly Detection with Semantic Embedding and Integrated Neural Network Innovations

System logs, serving as a pivotal data source for performance monitoring and anomaly detection, play an indispensable role in assuring service stability and reliability. Despite this, the majority of existing log-based anomaly detection methodologies predominantly depend on the sequence or quantity attributes of logs, utilizing solely a single Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and its variant sequence models for detection. These approaches have not thoroughly exploited the semantic information embedded in logs, exhibit limited adaptability to novel logs, and a single model struggles to fully unearth the potential features within the log sequence. Addressing these challenges, this article proposes a hybrid architecture based on a multiscale convolutional neural network, efficient channel attention and mogrifier gated recurrent unit networks (LogCEM), which amalgamates multiple neural network technologies. Capitalizing on the superior performance of robustly optimized BERT approach (RoBERTa) in the realm of natural language processing, we employ RoBERTa to extract the original word vectors from each word in the log template. In conjunction with the enhanced Smooth Inverse Frequency (SIF) algorithm, we generate more precise log sentence vectors, thereby achieving an in-depth representation of log semantics. Subsequently, these log vector sequences are fed into a hybrid neural network, which fuses 1D Multi-Scale Convolutional Neural Network (MSCNN), Efficient Channel Attention Mechanism (ECA), and Mogrifier Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). This amalgamation enables the model to concurrently capture the local and global dependencies of the log sequence and autonomously learn the significance of different log sequences, thereby markedly enhancing the efficacy of log anomaly detection. Granger causal representation learning for groups of time series

Discovering causality from multivariate time series is an important but challenging *** existing methods focus on estimating the Granger causal structures among multivariate time series,while ignoring the prior knowledge of these time series, e.g., the group of the time series. Focusing on discovering the Granger causal structures among groups of time series, we propose a Granger causal representation learning method to solve this problem. First, we use the multiset canonical correlation analysis method to learn the Granger causal representation of each group of time series. Then, we model the Granger causal relationships among the learned Granger causal representations using a recurrent neural network with temporal information. Finally, we formulate the above two stages into one unified optimization problem, which is efficiently solved using the augmented Lagrangian method. We conduct extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Compressive property and energy absorption characteristic of interconnected porous Mg-zn-Y alloys with adjusting Y addition

In this study,interconnected porous Mg-2zn-xY alloys with different phase compositions were prepared by various Y additions(x=0.4,3,and 6 wt.%)to adjust the compressive properties and energy absorption *** characterization methods were then applied to identify the microstructure of the porous Mg-zn-Y and describe the details of the second *** tests were performed at room temperature(RT),200℃,and 300℃to study the impact of the Y addition and testing temperature on the compressive properties of the porous *** experimental results showed that a high Y content promotes a microstructure refinement and increases the volume fraction of the second *** the Y content increases,different Mg-zn-Y ternary phases appear:I-phase(Mg_(3)zn_(6)Y),W-phase(Mg_(3)zn_(3)Y_(2)),and LPSO phase(Mg_(12)znY).When the Y content ranges between 0.4%and 6%,the compressive strength increases from 6.30MPa to 9.23 MPa,and the energy absorption capacity increases from 7.33 Mj/m^(3)to 10.97 Mj/m^(3)at RT,which is mainly attributed to the phase composition and volume fraction of the second ***,the average energy absorption efficiency is independent of the Y *** addition,the compressive deformation behaviors of the porous Mg-zn-Y are altered by the testing *** compressive strength and energy absorption capacity of the porous Mg-zn-Y decrease due to the softening effect of the high temperature on the *** deformation behaviors at different temperatures are finally observed to reflect the failure mechanisms of the struts.

Enhanced properties of stone coal-based composite phase change materials for thermal energy storage

Phase change materials (PCMs) can be incorporated with low-cost minerals to synthesize composites for thermal energy storage in building *** coal (SC) after vanadium extraction treatment shows potential for secondary utilization in composite *** prepared SC-based composite PCMs with SC as a matrix,stearic acid (SA) as a PCM,and expanded graphite (EG) as an *** combined roasting and acid leaching treatment of raw SC was conducted to understand the effect of vanadium extraction on promoting loading *** showed that the combined treatment of roasting at 900℃ and leaching increased the SC loading of the composite by 6.2%by improving the specific surface *** loading capacity and thermal conductivity of the composite obviously increased by 127%and 48.19%,respectively,due to the contribution of 3wt% *** data were supported by the high load of 66.69%and thermal conductivity of 0.59 W·m^(-1)·K-1of the designed *** obtained composite exhibited a phase change temperature of 52.17℃,melting latent heat of 121.5 j·g^(-1),and good chemical *** SC-based composite has prospects in building applications exploiting the secondary utilization of minerals.

Experimental study on shock interaction control of double wedge in high-enthalpy hypersonic flow subject to plasma synthetic jet

The hypersonic shock-shock interaction flow field at double-wedge geometries controlled by plasma synthetic jet actuator is experimentally studied in a Ma = 8 high-enthalpy shock tunnel with the purpose of exploring a novel technique for reducing surface heat flux in a real flight environment. The results demonstrate that increasing the discharge energy is advantageous in eliminating the shock wave, shifting the shock wave interaction point, and shortening the control response time. The oblique shock wave can be completely removed when the actuator's discharge energy grows from 0.4 j to 11.5 j, and the displacement of the shock wave interaction point increases by 124.56%, while the controlled response time is shortened by 30 μs. Besides, the reduction in diameter of the jet exit is firstly proved to have a negative impact on energy deposition in a working environment with incoming flow, which reduces the discharge energy and hence decreases the control effect. The shock wave control response time lengthens when the jet exits away from the second wedge. Along with comparing the change in wall heat flux at the second wedge over time, the control effect of plasma synthetic jet actuator with and without inflation is also analyzed. When plasma synthetic jet works in inflatable mode, both the ability to eliminate shock waves and the shifting effect of the shock wave interaction point are increased significantly, and the wall heat flux is also reduced.
