Feralization is an important evolutionary process,but the mechanisms behind it remain poorly ***,we use the ancient fiber crop ramie(Boehmeria nivea(L.)Gaudich.)as a model to investigate genomic changes associated with both domestication and *** first produced a chromosome-scale de novo genome assembly of feral ramie and investigated structural variations between feral and domesticated ramie ***,we gathered 915 accessions from 23 countries,comprising cultivars,major landraces,feral populations,and the wild *** on whole-genome resequencing of these accessions,we constructed the most comprehensive ramie genomic variation map to ***,demographic,and admixture signal detection analyses indicated that feral ramie is of exoferal or exo-endo origin,i.e.,descended from hybridization between domesticated ramie and the wild progenitor or ancient *** ramie has higher genetic diversity than wild or domesticated ramie,and genomic regions affected by natural selection during feralization differ from those under selection during *** analyses showed that feral and domesticated ramie have similar ecological niches that differ substantially from the niche of the wild progenitor,and three environmental variables are associated with habitat-specific adaptation in feral *** findings advance our understanding of feralization,providing a scientific basis for the excavation of new crop germplasm resources and offering novel insights into the evolution of feralization in nature.

Lone-Star retractor perineal exposure method for laparoscopic abdominal perineal resection of rectal cancer

BACKGROUND The abdominal perineal resection(APR),historically referred to as Mile’s proce-dure,stands as a time-honored surgical intervention for rectal cancer *** in surgical techniques and the advent of neoadjuvant therapies have significantly improved the rate of sphincter preservation among patients afflicted with rectal cancer,including those with ultralow rectal *** these improvements,APR maintains its irreplaceable role in the clinical landscape,particularly for cases involving low rectal cancer with encroachment on the external anal sphincter or levator ani *** perineal exposure stands as a pivotal phase in APR,given that the precision of this maneuver is directly correlated with both the safety of the surgery and the patient’s subse-quent long-term *** To evaluate the value of Lone-Star retractor(LSR)perineal exposure method in the treatment for laparoscopic APR of rectal *** We reviewed the records of 38 patients with rectal cancer at Anqing Municipal Hospital from January 2020 to December 2023,including 20 patients who underwent the APR procedure with a LSR perineal exposure method(LSR group)and 18 patients who underwent the APR procedure with a conventional perineal exposure method(control group).In the LSR group,following incision of the skin and subcutaneous tissue,the LSR was placed and dynamically adjusted according to the surgical plane to fully expose the perineal operative *** A total of 38 patients underwent laparoscopic APR,none of whom were found to have distant metastasis upon intraoperative *** blood loss,the postoperative hospital stays and the wound pain scores in the LSR group were significantly lower than those in the control group.A single surgeon completed the perineal operation significantly more often in the LSR group than in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of infection via the perineal incision in the LSR group was significantly lower

With over a million cases detected each year,skin disease is a global public health problem that diminishes the quality of life due to its difficulty to eradicate,propensity for recurrence,and potential for post-treatment *** therapy(PDT)is a treatment with minimal invasiveness or scarring and few side effects,making it well tolerated by ***,this treatment requires further research and development to improve its effective clinical ***,a piezoelectric-driven microneedle(PDMN)platform that achieves high efficiency,safety,and non-invasiveness for enhanced PDT is *** platform induces deep tissue cavitation,increasing the level of protoporphyrin IX and significantly enhancing drug penetration.A clinical trial involving 25 patients with skin disease was conducted to investigate the timeliness and efficacy of PDMN-assisted PDT(PDMN-PDT).Our findings suggested that PDMN-PDT boosted treatment effectiveness and reduced the required incubation time and drug concentration by 25%and 50%,respectively,without any anesthesia compared to traditional *** findings suggest that PDMN-PDT is a safe and minimally invasive approach for skin disease treatment,which may improve the therapeutic efficacy of topical medications and enable translation for future clinical applications.

The volume fractions and morphology of precipitates in precipitation-strengthened Cu-Ti alloys,which precipitate mainly as continuous and discontinuous precipitates,are important for the application of the *** study employed hardness and electrical conductivity tests transmission electron microscopy(TEM),atom probe tomography(APT),and first-principles calculations to demonstrate that the addition of Mg is effective for accelerating nanosized continuousβ'-Cu_(4)Ti precipitation as well as for suppressing the precipitation of coarse lamellar discontinuousβ-Cu_(4)Ti precipitates along the grain boundaries,resulting in Cu-Ti alloys with high yield strength and good electrical *** results showed that the continuous precipitation ofβ'-Cu_(4)Ti was accelerated by the Mg additions,which reduced the supersaturation of the matrix,thereby reducing the chemical driving force for the discontinuous *** the other hand,Mg additions increased the mismatch between the discontinuousβ-Cu_(4)Ti precipitates and matrix decreased the nucleation rate of the discontinuous precipitates,and increased the spacing of the discontinuous precipitation layer,resulting in a lower growth rate of the discontinuous ***,the addition of Mg to Cu-Ti alloys enhances the strength and improves the resistance to over-ageing.

Low-temperature,ambient processing of high-quality CsPbBr_(3)films is demanded for scalable production of efficient,low-cost carbon-electrode perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Herein,we demonstrate a crystal orientation engineering strategy of PbBr_(2)precursor film to accelerate its reaction with CsBr precursor during two-step sequential deposition of CsPbBr_(3)*** a novel strategy is proceeded by adding CsBr species into PbBr_(2)precursor,which can tailor the preferred crystal orientation of PbBr_(2)film from[020]into[031],with CsBr additive staying in the film as CsPb_(2)Br_(5)*** calculations show that the reaction energy barrier of(031)planes of PbBr_(2)with CsBr is lower about 2.28 eV than that of(O2O)***,CsPbBr_(3)films with full coverage,high purity,high crystallinity,micro-sized grains can be obtained at a low temperature of 150℃.Carbon-electrode PSCs with these desired CsPbBr_(3)films yield the record-high efficiency of 10.27%coupled with excellent operation ***,the 1 cm^(2)area one with the superior efficiency of 8.00%as well as the flexible one with the champion efficiency of 8.27%and excellent mechanical bending characteristics are also achieved.

Whole-genome genotyping(WGG)stands as a pivotal element in genomic-assisted plant ***theless,sequencing-based approaches for WGG continue to be costly,primarily owing to the high expenses associated with library preparation and the laborious *** prior development of foreground and background integrated genotyping by sequencing(FBI-seq),we discovered that any sequence-specific primer(SP)inherently possesses the capability to amplify a massive array of stable and reproducible non-specific PCR products across the ***,we further improved FBI-seq by replacing the adapter ligated by Tn5 transposase with an arbitrary degenerate(AD)*** protocol for the enhanced FBI-seq unexpectedly mirrors a simplified thermal asymmetric interlaced(TAIL)-PCR,a technique that is widely used for isolation of flanking ***,the improved TAIL-PCR maximizes the primer-template mismatched annealing capabilities of both SP and AD *** addition,leveraging of next-generation sequencing enhances the ability of this technique to assay tens of thousands of genome-wide loci for any *** cost-effective,user-friendly,and powerful WGG tool,which we have named TAIL-PCR by sequencing(TAIL-peq),holds great potential for widespread application in breeding programs,thereby facilitating genome-assisted crop improvement.

HIV-1 reverse transcriptase(RT)has received great attention as an attractive therapeutic target for acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS),but the inevitable drug resistance and side effects have always been major challenges faced by non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NNRTIs).This work aimed to identify novel chemotypes of anti-HIV-1 agents with improved drugresistance profiles,reduced toxicity,and excellent druggability.A series of diarylpyrimidine(DAPY)derivatives were prepared via structural modifications of the leads K-5a2 and *** them,15a with dimethylphosphine oxide moiety showed the most prominent antiviral potency against all of the tested viral panel,being 1.6-fold(WT,EC_(50) z 1.75 nmol/L),3.0-fold(L100I,EC_(50) z 2.84 nmol/L),2.4-fold(K103N,EC_(50) z 1.27 nmol/L),3.3-fold(Y181C,EC50 z 5.38 nmol/L),2.9-fold(Y188L,EC_(50) z 7.96 nmol/L),2.5-fold(E138K,EC_(50) z 4.28 nmol/L),4.8-fold(F227L/V106A,EC_(50) z 3.76 nmol/L)and 5.3-fold(RES056,EC_(50) z 15.8 nmol/L)more effective than that of the marketed drug *** docking results illustrated the detailed interactions formed by compound 15a and WT,F227L/V106A,and RES056 ***,15a-HCl carried outstanding pharmacokinetic(t1/2 z 1.32 h,F z 40.8%)and safety profiles(LD_(50)>2000 mg/kg),which demonstrated that 15a HCl is a potential anti-HIV-1 drug candidate.

Interfacial fusion-enhanced 11 μm-thick gel polymer electrolyte for high-performance lithium metal batteries

In the pursuit of ultrathin polymer electrolyte（<20 μm） for lithium metal batteries, achieving a balance between mechanical strength and interfacial stability is crucial for the longevity of the ***, 11 μm-thick gel polymer electrolyte is designed via an integrated electrode/electrolyte structure supported by lithium metal anode. Benefiting from an exemplary superiority of excellent mechanical property, high ionic conductivity, and robust interfacial adhesion, the in-situ formed polymer electrolyte reinforced by titanosiloxane networks（ISPTS） embodies multifunctional roles of physical barrier, ionic carrier, and artificial protective layer at the interface. The potent interfacial interactions foster a seamless fusion of the electrode/electrolyte interfaces and enable continuous ion transport. Moreover, the built-in ISPTS electrolyte participates in the formation of gradient solid-electrolyte interphase（SEI） layer, which enhances the SEI's structural integrity against the strain induced by volume fluctuations of lithium ***, the resultant 11 μm-thick ISPTS electrolyte enables lithium symmetric cells with cycling stability over 600 h and LiFePO4cells with remarkable capacity retention of 96.6% after 800 *** study provides a new avenue for designing ultrathin polymer electrolytes towards stable, safe,and high-energy–density lithium metal batteries.
