Tree species as hosts for arbuscular mycorrhizal and dark septate endophyte fungi

A survey of 35 tree species （belonging to 28 genera in 19 families） in Aliyar, South India was carried out to ascertain their arbuscular mycorrhizal （AM） and dark septate endophyte （DSE） fungal status. All the tree species examined had AM association. AM and DSE coloni- zation is reported for the first time in 20 and 14 species respectively. Co- occurrence of AM and DSE was observed in 14 （40%） tree species. The extent of DSE colonization was inversely related to the extent of AM fungal colonization. Six tree species had Arum-type, 18 had intermediate- type and 11 had typical Paris-type AM morphology. AM fungal spore morphotypes belonging to 11 species in two genera were isolated from the rhizosphere soil. AM fungal spore numbers were not related to the ex- tent of AM colonization and Glomus dominated spore diversity. AM association individually and along with DSE were found respectively in the 63% and 44% of the economically important tree species. The occur- rence of AM and DSE fungal association in economically important indigenous tree species indicates the possibility of exploiting this asso- ciation in future conservation programmes of these species.

Dichloro-diglycine zinc II(DCDGz II),a semi-organic nonlinear optical material has been synthesized and single crystals were grown from the aqueous solution up to dimensions 20×10×3 *** title compound,DCDGz II(C4H10Cl2N2O4zn H2O) crystallizes into monoclinic structure with the space group of C2/*** unit-cell parameters were found to be a=14.4191(7),b=6.9180(2),c=12.9452(6) and z=*** the crystal structure,DCDGz II layer is building up alternatingly with layers of water in which the zinc ions lie on a twofold *** calculations for polarizability,which are useful for device fabrication were made using Clausius–Mosotti equation and Penn analysis and the results were *** transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopic studies were performed for the identification of the different functional groups presented in the *** UV–vis–NIR absorption spectrum reveals that the lower UV cut-off wavelength is 240 *** optical band gap of the crystal was estimated as 2.2 *** surface morphology,thermal behaviour,dielectric properties have been studied using SEM,TG/DTA and LCR HITESTER *** nonlinear optical property of the crystal was also confirmed using Kurtz powder technique.

Antifungal Effect of Plant Extract and Essential Oil

The advancement of phytochemical and phytopharmacological sciences has enabled elucidation of the composition and biological activities of several medicinal plant products including plant extract and essential oils. These products have been widely used around the world since ancient times for the treatment of various disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, microbial infection, sexual disorder and many more. Its popularity in the modern system of medicine is mainly due to their availability and fewer adverse reactions compared to synthetic drugs. Various scientific investigations have been conducted to look for the potential of the extract from the plant or isolated compounds for the continued use of these products in the treatment and prevention of various kinds of human diseases. It is evident from the available literature and scientific investigations that many plant species possess potential for use as a beneficial therapeutic remedy with multiple pharmacological actions such as analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, hypoglycemic, hypotensive, antimicrobial, antiulcer and anticonvulsant activities. The present review aims to provide relevant updated information about certain plant products, its composition, preparation and its fungicidal or fungistatic effects on different species of fungus as evaluated by studies done in the past. It introduces six medicinal plants that have been studied for their antifungal property and are found to be effective. The overall objective is to provide comprehensive information about the use of plant extract and essential oil for treating fungal infections and to explore the evidence supporting its effectiveness in treating fungal diseases without causing any serious adverse reactions.

＜正＞ This paper gives a new solution for controlling boost converter that exhibits Inverse Response （IR） due to the presence of Right Hand Side （RHS） zero. The RHS zero ηimposes a limit on the attainable closed-loop bandwidth of the controlled converter thereby reducing the controller gain Kc. In this paper a comparative study is made by introducing different controller tuning methods such as Internal Model Control （IMC）, Synthesis, Equating Co-efficient and ziegler-Nichol’s （z-N）techniques applicable to voltage control of dc-dc boost converter. The paper also presents closed loop simulation results of the converter for load regulation and line fluctuation. The results reveal that, synthesis method gives superior performance in terms of lowest ISE value.
