The Association of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Symptoms of Asthma, Allergic Rhinoconjunctivitis and Eczema among Japanese Children Aged 3 - 6 Years

There is insufficient epidemiological evidence on the relationship between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and allergic diseases. We performed a cross-sectional survey to elucidate the associations between them using validated screening tools. The participants were children aged 3 - 6 years attending kindergarten or nursery school in Shika Town, Japan (n = 417;valid response rate = 80.4%). Autism spectrum features were scored on the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ). Allergic symptoms (asthma, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and eczema) were determined according to the criteria of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood. A total of 15 children (4.5%) had an SCQ score of 11 points or higher. The prevalence of symptoms was 14.7% for asthma, and 5.3% for allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and 11.4% for eczema. Logistic regression indicated that symptoms of eczema were significantly associated with SCQ scores of 11 points or higher [odds ratio (OR), 4.38;95% confidence interval (CI), 1.41 - 13.59]. The association persisted after adjustment for age, sex, and BMI (OR, 3.84;95% CI, 1.20 - 12.24). Moreover, asthmatic symptoms were significantly associated with male sex (OR, 2.09;95% CI, 1.12 - 3.92) and overweight status (OR, 2.45;95% CI, 1.03 - 5.83). This suggests that higher SCQ scores, which imply more autism spectrum features, are associated with higher prevalence of eczema symptoms. While no causal relationships can be made, ASD might be associated with eczema.

Aurochs(Bos primigenius),once widely distributed in Afro-Eurasia,became extinct in the early 1600 ***,their phylogeography and relative contributions to domestic cattle remain *** this study,we analyzed 16 genomes of ancient aurochs and three mitogenomes of ancient bison(Bison priscus)excavated in East Asia,dating from 43,000 to 3,590 years *** newly generated data with previously published genomic information on aurochs as well as ancient/extant domestic cattle worldwide through genome ***ﬁndings revealed signiﬁcant genetic divergence between East Asian aurochs and their European,near Eastern,and African counterparts on the basis of both mitochondrial and nuclear genomic ***,we identiﬁed evidence of geneﬂow from East Asian aurochs into ancient and present-day taurine cattle,suggesting their potential role in facilitating the environmental adaptation of domestic cattle.

International Standard ISO 12218 applies to the process control of offset platemaking for the conventional technology. Based on the comparative analysis the paper shows the necessity of more strict process control for the CtP technology for which there is no common approach among plate manufacturers. Attaining the basic working properties of printing formes and quality parameters of image elements has been suggested as a basis of such an approach.

采用熔融法结合放电等离子烧结的方法合成了P型Zintl相Yb1-xCaxCd2Sb2(x=0.2,0.4,0.5,0.6,0.8)多晶固溶体,探索了Ca取代Yb对其热电性能的影响规律。测试了块体材料的低温(2K～300K)电导率、Seebeck系数、热导率、质量热容量以及Hall系数。结果表明:所制备的Yb1-xCaxCd2Sb2固溶体为P型电传导。随着Ca取代量x的增加,化合物室温载流子浓度逐渐减小,电导率逐渐降低,Seebeck系数逐渐增大。热导率随x的变化规律不明显,但是当x=0.5,固溶体在整个温度范围内都有最低的热导率。固溶体Yb1-xCaxCd2Sb2的热电优值ZT随x增加而降低。

Background: Colles’ fracture is a type of fracture of the distal third of the radius and its most common cause is falling from patient’s own height and, epidemiologically, it is more common in the elderly. Objectives: The main objective of this study is to analyze the epidemiology of Colles’ fracture retrospectively, in patients admitted to Fernandes Távora Hospital. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study conducted at the Fernandes Távora Hospital used 1030 radiographic images of patients with wrist fractures. Results: (After a careful analysis) It was found that this type of fracture occurred with a greater frequency in age groups of 50 to 69, 60 to 69, and 40 to 49 years old, which corresponds to 59.5% of patients and the most affected sex were females (51.1%). Conclusion: The study concluded that this type of bone injury is more common in people aged 40 to 69 years old, especially in women, because of their geometry and bone composition. It is evident that Colles’ fracture impacts the life of the affected person, therefore, an adequate diagnosis and treatment having utmost importance.

Some clinical and epidemiological studies have suggested that Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and cataract, may share common pathogenetic mechanisms, subsequently a positive association between the prevalence of AD and cataract, although other studies found no significant relationship between dementia and visual impairment including cataract in the elderly. Little is known about the association between Activity of Daily Living (ADL) and the combination of AD and cataract. To examine the association between ADL and the combination of AD and cataract, we performed a national survey in nursing care institutions in Japan, examining the decreased ADL in elderly with and without AD and cataract for 453 elderly aged 85.0 ± 8.13 years. The proportion, 43.5% of AD in subjects without cataract was significantly higher than that, 23.5% with cataract. Almost all ADL in AD with cataract was significantly lower than that without cataract, although all ADL in cataract patients receiving surgery in AD was significantly (all p n that in cataract patients without surgery in AD, as was confirmed by the multiple regression analysis incorporating into the relevant factors as independent variables. These results showed that ADL scores including cognitive functions decreased by cataract were increased by the surgery in the patients with AD. A significantly negative association between AD and cataract seen in our data, which was inconsistent with the previous result, might lead to the necessities of the clinical diagnosis for slight severity of cataract for patients with AD.

Until now, several isochronous mass spectrometry (IMS) experiments have been successfully performed usingvarious primary beams at the HIRFL-CSR and masses of both proton-rich and proton-deficient exotic nuclei havebeen measured. In order to improve the performance of the IMS experiments and to provide a reliable tool fordesigning and preparing the future experiments, a simulation code, named SimCSR is ***, six-dimension phase-space linear transmission theory is applied to simulate the transmission of ionsin the experimental storage ring (CSRe). The basic algorithm is Bf = MBi. The Bi and Bf are six-dimensionphase-space vectors of ions at the entrance and exit of each element of the CSRe lattice, respectively. M is a6-by-6-dimension first-order transfer matrix of each element. M is calculated using formulas described in Ref.[1]. Inthe simulations, the ring lattice is considered in detail, and the same magnetic setting as in our previous experimentwith 58ni projectile fragments[2] is considered. The ions are assumed to circulate 300 turns inside the CSRe.
