myxomycete diversity in the Tarim basin and eastern Tian-Shan,Xinjiang Prov.,China

We report the results of a survey for myxomycetes in the Chinese province of Xinjiang,covering the northern part of the Tarim basin and the eastern Tian-Shan *** in the hyperarid Tarim basin focused on monospecific Tugai forests;these are park-like stands of the phreatophyte Populus *** a transect from the Tarim basin to the mountains,trees vanish outside the basin,but reoccur at ca.1,400 m elevation as monospecific forests of Picea schrenkiana;the second focal area of the *** a total of 362 substrate samples(245 from the Tarim basin,177 from the mountains)we obtained 477 determinable records of myxomycetes,plus a total of 206 field collections,the latter almost exclusively from the spruce forests in the *** the 80 taxa recorded 53 are represented by field collections,and 32 were found in moist chamber cultures;with a very low overlap in species assemblages found in the field and in *** receiving less than 50 mm annual precipitation,corticolous myxomycetes were common in the Tugai forests,with Physarum pseudonotabile ***.,Didymium anellus,Echinostelium colliculosum and Protophysarum phloiogenum as the most common *** to the Tarim basin(21 taxa)the mountains were much richer in myxomycetes(75 taxa),although the diversity recovered from cultures was comparable(21 vs.28 taxa).most species from the mountains fruited on decaying spruce,often collected under or even inside the logs due to the extremely dry *** results suggest first that there is no lower limit of annual precipitation for myxomycetes,as long as at least some days with nightly dew fall allow these organisms to complete their life ***,the two examples of surprisingly diverse myxomycete assemblages from monospecific forests demonstrate,that species richness of this group is not necessarily connected with plant diversity of the *** survey is the most eastern of a large-scale study of myxomycete diversity throughout m

The response of zooplankton abundance in saline meromictic Lake Shira to a change in circulation regime

The long-term data(1996-2021)on the summer abundances of the dominant zooplankton species(copepod Arctodiaptomus salinus(Daday,1885),rotifers Brachionus plicatilis(müller,1786)and Hexarthra sp.)in saline Lake Shira were used to analyze the response of zooplankton to air temperature and a change in the circulation regime of the lake:breakdown and reestablishment of *** groups of zooplankton responded to prolonged summer elevated temperatures by increasing their *** the breakdown of the stable stratification of Lake Shira(2015-2016),zooplankton abundance increased on average by a factor of two and amounted to 9×10^(5)inds./m^(2)in the water column for *** increase coincided with similar responses of other components of the lake’s mixolimnion ecosystem,whose biomasses increased approximately two-fold during that *** the reestablishment of the meromixis,the abundance of zooplankton decreased to previous ***,the abundance of zooplankton is largely determined by weather(the effect of temperature)and ecological factors(mixing regime).

Serpentinization reactions are paramount to understand hydro-geothermal activity near plate boundaries and mafic–ultramafic massifs,as well as fluid and element transfer between the Earth’s mantle and ***,fluid-rock element exchange and serpentinization kinetics under shallow hydrothermal conditions is still largely *** we present two constant temperature(230℃)time-series of natural peridotite(77.5%olivine;13.7%enstatite;6.8%diopside;2%spinel)serpentinization experiments:at 13.4 mPa;and 20.7 ***-enriched lizardite was the main secondary mineral in all runs after olivine(olv)and orthopyroxene(opx)serpentinization(without any detectable brucite,talc or magnetite),while primary spinel and diopside partially dissolved during the *** serpentinization stages comprises intrinsically coupled reactions between olivine and enstatite,as Al and Si are progressively transferred from orthopyroxene-derived to olivine-derived serpentine,while the opposite is true for mg and Fe,with homogenization of serpentines compositions after 40 *** Ni/Cr ratios of serpentines,however,remain diagnostic of the respective primary *** average serpentine content indicates fast serpentinization rates of 0.55 wt.%·day^(-1)(0.26 mmol·day^(-1))and 0.26 wt.%·day^(-1)(0.13 mmol·day^(-1))at 13.4 and 20.7 mPa,*** 2x faster serpentinization kinetics at lower pressure is likely linked to enhanced spinel dissolution leading to one order of magnitude higher available Al,which accelerates olivine serpentinization while delays orthopyroxene ***,time-dependent increase in solid products masses suggests rock volume expands linearly 0.37%±0.01%per serpentine wt.%independently of *** balance constrains suggests olv:opx react at~5:2 and~3:2 m ratios,resulting in Si-deficient and Si-saturated serpentines at the end of the low-pressure series(13.4 mPa)and high-pressure series(20.7 mPa),***

This study investigated the effect of green tea extract(GTE)and green tea-Piper retrofractum complex(GPX),on tight junctions(TJs)in a cellular model of deoxycholic acid(DCA)-induced intestinal barrier disruption and a mouse DSS+DCA-induced colitis *** tea and *** were extracted and coadministered to examine the bioavailability and effects of combined catechins and piperine on colonic TJ *** ability of GPX to alleviate TJ damage was determined by comparing the transepithelial electrical resistance(TEER),FITC-dextran flux,and mRNA expression of TJ-related components and target expression pathway in the GTE and GPX *** with the DCA-treated group,the GTE-and GPX-treated groups showed significantly enhanced TEER,FITC-dextran flux,and TJ-related mRNA expression(pment also downregulated the mRNA encoding bile acid receptor and decreased ERK1/2 *** with the GTE-treated group,the GPX-treated group showed higher mRNA expression of zonula occludens-1,occludin,claudin-3,and claudin-4;greater restoration of TJs,as determined by immunofluorescence;and better modulation of ERK1/2 *** the in vivo model,GPX-pretreated mice showed an improved intestinal damage index and colon length compared with mice in the other colitis-induced *** extracts recovered the distal colon mRNA expression of zonula occludens-1 and *** results suggest that GTE improves intestinal health by protecting TJs from secondary bile acid damage and that *** may potentiate the bioactivity of green tea catechins.

Design Procedure for Semi Interlocking masonry

SIm （semi interlocking masonry） is a kind of innovative building system for mortar-less walls. It utilizes a special method of interlocking SIm bricks that allows relative sliding of brick courses in-plane of a wall and prevents out-of-plane relative movement of bricks. It has increased capacity to dissipate earthquake energy through friction between bricks compared with traditional masonry. It can be used in earthquake resistant frame structures as infill panels, which also act as EDD （energy dissipation devices）. However, as a mortar-less system, it is not covered by masonry design standards. The purpose of this paper is to introduce S1m and also to develop an analytical design procedure for this innovative masonry system.

Influence of vacuoles with gas–liquid inclusions on the thermobaric destruction conditions of natural quartz under dynamic heating in an RF-TICP torch system

The effect of toroidal field on the rotating magnetic field current drive in rotamak plasmas

A rotamak is one kind of compact spherically shaped magnetic-confinement device. In a rotamak the plasma current is driven by means of rotating magnetic field （RmF）. The driven current can reverse the original equilibrium field and generate a field-reversed-configuration. In a conventional rotamak, a toroidal field （TF） is not necessary for the RmF to drive plasma current, but it was found that the present of an additional TF can influence the RmF current drive. In this paper the effect of TF on the RmF current drive in a rotamak are investigated in some detail. The experimental results show that addition of TF increases the RmF driven current greatly and enhances the RmF penetration dramatically. Without TF, the RmF can only penetrate into plasma in the edge region. When a TF is added, the RmF can reach almost the whole plasma region. This is an optimal strength of toroidal magnetic field for getting maximum plasma current when Bv and radio frequency generator power are fixed. Besides driving current, the RmF generates high harmonic fields in rotamak plasma. The effect of TF on the harmonic field spectra are also reported.

Color polymorphism offers rich opportunities for studying the eco-evolutionary mechanisms that drive the adaptations of local populations to heterogeneous and changing *** explored the color morph diversity and composition in a Chrysomela lapponica leaf beetle across its entire distribution range to test the hypothesis that environmental and climatic variables shape spatiotemporal variation in the phenotypic structure of a polymorphic *** obtained information on 13617 specimens of this beetle from museums,private collections,and *** specimens(collected from 1830-2020)originated from 959 localities spanning 33°latitude,178°longitude,and 4200 m *** classified the beetles into five color morphs and searched for environmental factors that could explain the variation in the level of polymorphism(quantified by the Shannon diversity index)and in the relative frequencies of individual color *** highest level of polymorphism was found at high latitudes and *** color morphs differed in their climatic requirements;composition of colour morphs was independent of the geographic distance that separated populations but changed with collection year,longitude,mean July temperature and betweenyear temperature *** proportion of melanic beetles,in line with the thermal melanism hypothesis,increased with increasing latitude and altitude and decreased with increasing climate *** morph frequencies also declined during the past century,but only at high latitudes and altitudes where recent climate warming was especially *** observed patterns suggest that color polymorphism is especially advantageous for populations inhabiting unpredictable environments,presumably due to the different climatic requirements of coexisting color morphs.
