Investigation results on linear and non-linear optical properties, damage threshold and potential efficiencies of biaxial negative LiInS2 crystal are represented. It shows that the crystal has phase-matching and group-velocity matching in wide spectral range for second harmonic, sum- and difference-frequency generation of visible, near and middle IR lasers. The possibilities of designing middle IR optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by Nd:YAG and dye lasers and specially possibility of frequency conversion with 3 um range femtosecond erbium lasers are given.

We consider the problem of determining the center of mass of an unknown gravitational body, using the disturbances in the motion of observed celestial bodies. In this paper an universal approach to obtain the approximate and stable estimate of problem solution is suggested. This approach can be used in other fields of Science. For example, it can be applied for investigation of interactions between fields of forces and elementary particles using known trajectories of elementary particles motions.

An attempt to simplify the approach to the problems of room-temperature superconductors was done. The key factor has been highlighted—a giant spin-orbit interaction as a result of specific geometry of crystal. Considering oriented carbyne as an example, it was shown that maximal value of SOC was attained in low-dimensional systems. A qualitative model of superconductivity in the localized phase with “pseudo-magnetic field” and “Rashba effective field” as parameters was presented. Their correlation was shown via geometry of electric microfields of crystal. Oriented carbyne was presented as localized phase of room-temperature superconductor and the recipe of its transformation to macroscopic superconductivity was given.

Selection and application of serotypical synthetic peptides derived from hepatitis C virus NS5A region

Background Numerous studies have reported a relationship between hepatitis C virus （HCV） genotype and the response to interferon therapy. Despite high sensitivity and specificity, genotyping methods can be performed only on HCV RNA positive samples. Serotyping might be a rapid and cost effective method for determining HCV genotypes, especially in patients with previously undetectable HCV RNA. In this study, an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） method for HCV serotyping with the genotype specific, synthetic peptides derived from HCV nonstructural 5a （NS5A） region was developed. Methods Based on 45 sequences, representing HCV genotypes 1-6 from Genebank, we synthesised 305 overlapping 30-mer peptides within NS5A region at positions 2182-2343 of HCV. All peptides for antigenic reactivity were tested by enzyme immunoassay with 69 human sera with antiHCV positive representing genotype 1-6. Forty hepatitis C patient sera were serotyped using serotype specific, synthetic peptides and genotyped by sequencing analysis. Results The correspondence of amino acids in HCV NS5A region with amino acids in positions 2182-2343 was very low among different genotype peptides. The highly conserved sequences were residues 2182-2211 （R1）, 2272-2301 （R7） and 2302-2331 （R9）： the highly variable 2212-2241 （R3） and 2257-2286 （R6）. Using 305 peptides, antigenic regions were located in R3, R7 and R9. Eighteen peptides from highly conserved region representing genotypes 1 to 6 showed broad immunoreactivity with sera containing antibody to all HCV genotypes. Immunoreactivity of the peptides from highly variable region was stronger with similar genotype sera. Twelve unique peptides showed highly, genotype specific, reactivity with types 1 and 3 sera. Type 2 genotype specific peptides had cross reaction with type 3 serum. No type 4, 5 or 6 specific peptides were selected. The serotyping results showed high agreement with sequencing analysis. The qualitative explanation of the earlier published experimental data was obtained within new energetic model of oriented carbyne. The conductivity spectrum and the superinjection effect feature Landau quantization in a giant pseudomagnetic field. The relativistic dispersion of carriers and non-dissipative character of their motion cause the effect of superinjection where carriers go upwards on an energetic ladder. Raman-spectra and other data point out to the fact that the plane of carriers’ motion is close to the carbyne-insulator interface. Quantum effects and on-surface conductivity allow considering oriented carbyne as an analogue of topological insulator.

The effect of toroidal field on the rotating magnetic field current drive in rotamak plasmas

A rotamak is one kind of compact spherically shaped magnetic-confinement device. In a rotamak the plasma current is driven by means of rotating magnetic field （RMF）. The driven current can reverse the original equilibrium field and generate a field-reversed-configuration. In a conventional rotamak, a toroidal field （TF） is not necessary for the RMF to drive plasma current, but it was found that the present of an additional TF can influence the RMF current drive. In this paper the effect of TF on the RMF current drive in a rotamak are investigated in some detail. The experimental results show that addition of TF increases the RMF driven current greatly and enhances the RMF penetration dramatically. Without TF, the RMF can only penetrate into plasma in the edge region. When a TF is added, the RMF can reach almost the whole plasma region. This is an optimal strength of toroidal magnetic field for getting maximum plasma current when Bv and radio frequency generator power are fixed. Besides driving current, the RMF generates high harmonic fields in rotamak plasma. The effect of TF on the harmonic field spectra are also reported.

The article presents a generalization of our electron microscopic results got on some binary and ternary alloys based on Ni,Fe or *** are considered as the basis for the conclusion that chemical bonds between atoms are realized in alloys according to the principle of pair *** process begins with the separation of the alloy into diffusion micro-pairs already in the liquid state,which makes it possible to consider the liquid state of the alloy as the initial stage of the new phase *** a subsequent decrease in temperature,particles of a new phase form inside a diffusion *** formation of diffusion micro-pairs and phases within them occurs due to the existence in alloys,along with a metallic bond,of ionic and covalent components of a strong chemical bond at all temperatures of the condensed *** article shows what exactly needs to be done so that such a branch of science as materials science could get rid of the empirical approach when creating new alloys.
