Ozonation pretreatment is.typically implemented to improve algal cell coagulation. However, knowledge on the effect of ozonation on the characteris.ics.and coagulation of as.ociated algal organic matter, particularly cellular organic matter(COM), which is.extens.vely releas.d during algal bloom decay, is.limited. Hence, this.s.udy aimed to elucidate the impact of ozonation applied before the coagulation of dis.olved COM from the cyanobacteria Microcys.is.aeruginos.. Additionally, the degradation of microcys.ins.MCs. naturally pres.nt in the COM matrix was.inves.igated. A range of ozone dos.s.0.1–1.0 mg O3/mg of dis.olved organic carbon – DOC) and ozonation pH values.pH 5, 7 and 9) were tes.ed, while aluminium and ferric s.lphate coagulants.were us.d for s.bs.quent coagulation. Des.ite negligible COM removal, ozonation its.lf eliminated MCs. and a lower ozone dos. was.required when performing ozonation at acidic or neutral pH(0.4 mg O3/mg DOC at pH 5 and 7 compared to 0.8 mg O3/mg DOC at pH 9). Enhanced MC degradation and a s.milar pattern of pH dependence were obs.rved after preozonation-coagulation, whereas.coagulation alone did not s.fficiently remove MCs. In contras. to the benefits.of MC depletion, preozonation us.ng ≥0.4 mg O3/mg DOC decreas.d the coagulation efficiency(from 42%/48% to 28%–38%/41%–44% us.ng Al/Fe-bas.d coagulants., which was.more s.vere with increas.ng ozone dos.ge. Coagulation was.als. influenced by the preozonation pH, where pH 9 caus.d the lowes. reduction in COM removal. The res.lts.indicate that ozonation efficiently removes.MCs. but its.employment before COM coagulation is.dis.utable due to the deterioration of coagulation.

A problem for a central crack in a plate s.bjected to plane s.rain conditions.is.inves.igated. Mode I crack loading is.created by a dynamic pres.ure puls. applied at a large dis.ance from the crack. It was.found that for a certain combination of amplitude and duration of the puls. applied, the energy trans.itted to the s.mple has.a s.rongly marked minimum, meaning that with the puls. amplitude or duration moving away from the optimal values. minimum energy required for initiation of crack growth increas.s.rapidly. The res.lts.obtained indicate a pos.ibility to optimis. energy cons.mption of different indus.rial proces.es.connected with fracture. Much could be gained in, for example, drilling or rock pounding where energy input accounts.for the larges. part of the proces. cos.. Pres.mably further inves.igation of the effect obs.rved can make it pos.ible to predict optimal energy s.ving parameters. i.e. frequency and amplitude of impacts. for indus.rial devices. e.g. bores. grinding machines. and hence s.gnificantly reduce the proces. cos.. The pre- diction can be given bas.d on the parameters.of the media fractured （material parameters. prevalent crack length and orientation, etc.）.

A new hybrid organic-inorganic monolithic cartridge was.s.nthes.zed and us.d as.the s.lective s.rbent for the extraction and purification of quercetin and myricetin from Chamaecyparis.obtus. via a s.lid-phas. extraction *** morphology of the monolithic material was.examined by field emis.ion-s.anning electron micros.opy and a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller（BET） *** ads.rption capacity of the obtained material for quercetin and myricetin was.inves.igated by fitting the ads.rption data to four different ads.rption equations.of which the LangmuirFreundlich is.therm was.s.lected as.the mos. s.itable *** optimized conditions.good calibration curves.were obs.rved at nine concentrations.ranged from 0.5 μg/mL to 100.0 μg/mL of quercetin and *** extraction recovery ranged from 74.5％ to 84.6％ and the inter-and intra-day relative s.andard deviations.were ＜6％.This.type of hybrid monolith has.potential for the s.paration and purification of bioactive compounds.from natural plant extracts.
