Background:1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucose(PGG)is a natural polyphenolic compound derived from multiple medicinal plants with favorable anticancer activity.Methods:In this study,the mechanisms of PGG against gastric cancer were explored through network pharmacology and molecular docking.First,the targets of PGG were searched in the Herbal Ingredients’Targets(HIT),Similarity Ensemble Approach(SEA),and Super-PRED databases.The potential targets related to gastric cancer were predicted from the Human Gene Database(GeneCards)and DisGeNET databases.The intersecting targets of PGG and gastric cancer were obtained by Venn diagram and then subjected to protein-protein interaction analysis to screen hub targets.Functional and pathway enrichment of hub targets were analyzed through Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway databases.The differential expression and survival analysis of hub targets in gastric cancer were performed based on The Cancer Genome Atlas database.Finally,the affinity of PGG with hub targets was visualized by molecular docking.Results:Three hub targets were screened,including mitogen-activated protein kinase 14(MAPK14),BCL2 like 1(BCL2L1),and vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGFA).MAPK14 had a higher expression,while BCL2L1 and VEGFA had lower expression in gastric cancer than in normal conditions.Enrichment analysis indicated enrichment of these hub targets in MAPK,neurotrophin,programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)checkpoint,phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases/protein kinase B(PI3K-Akt),Ras,and hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1)signaling pathways.Conclusion:Therefore,network pharmacology and molecular docking analyses revealed that PGG exerts a therapeutic efficacy on gastric cancer by multiple targets(MAPK14,BCL2L1,and VEGFA)and pathways(MAPK,PD-L1 checkpoint,PI3K-Akt,Ras,and HIF-1 pathways).

“长城公司改组”是开启香港地区左派电影的重要事件之一,“新长城”的创立须放置在当时香港地区电影业面对的危机中探讨。在“长城”的新旧转换中,电影公司对国内市场的注重与期待是重要驱动之一,同时党的香港地区“电影小组”立足“此时此地”,为之做政治引导与制片发行上的建议与批评。在1950年至1952年间,经由电影界不同角度的观点碰撞,以及电影公司的具体市场实践,香港地区左派电影的“市场”问题从电影小组“面对国内,照顾海外”与“国内外兼顾”的暂时倡导,逐步明晰和落实为综合考量、发挥地理和战略优势的“背靠祖国、面向海外”的中央方针。在这个过程中,新长城公司早期的市场实践具有重要的探索价值与意义。

The similarity measure is crucial to the performance of spectral clustering. The Gaussian kernel function based on the Euclidean distance is usual y adopted as the similarity measure. However, the Euclidean distance measure cannot ful y reveal the complex distribution data, and the result of spectral clustering is very sensitive to the scaling parameter. To solve these problems, a new manifold distance measure and a novel simulated anneal-ing spectral clustering （SASC） algorithm based on the manifold distance measure are proposed. The simulated annealing based on genetic algorithm （SAGA）, characterized by its rapid convergence to the global optimum, is used to cluster the sample points in the spectral mapping space. The proposed algorithm can not only reflect local and global consistency better, but also reduce the sensitivity of spectral clustering to the kernel parameter, which improves the algorithm’s clustering performance. To efficiently apply the algorithm to image segmentation, the Nystrom method is used to reduce the computation complexity. Experimental results show that compared with traditional clustering algorithms and those popular spectral clustering algorithms, the proposed algorithm can achieve better clustering performances on several synthetic datasets, texture images and real images.

Background Brain function is thought to rely on complex interactions of dynamic neural systems,which depend on the integrity of structural and functional networks.Focal epilepsy is considered to result from excessive focal synchronization in the network.Synchronization analysis of multichannel electrocorticography(ECoG)contributes to the understanding of and orientation of epilepsy.The aim of this study was to explore the synchronization in multichannel ECoG recordings from patients with neocortical epilepsy and characterize neural activity inside and outside the onset zone.Methods Four patients with neocortical epilepsy,who became seizure-free for more than 1 year after surgery guided by ECoG monitoring,were included in this study.ECoG data recorded during pre-surgical evaluation were analyzed.Synchronizations in phase and amplitude of different frequency bands between ECoG channels was analyzed using MATLAB.We generated 100 surrogate data from the original ECoG data using Amplitude Adjusted Fourier Transform to calculate the enhanced synchronization.The relationship between synchronization characteristics and seizure onset zone was analyzed.Results We found synchronization clusters in the 14–30 Hz and 30–80 Hz bands around the onset areas during both interictal and the beginning of ictal periods in all four patients.Conclusions The enhanced-synchronization clusters play a central role in epilepsy,and may activate the onset areas and contribute to the spreading of epileptiform activity.

Due to the potential risk of antibiotics to the environment,the development of inexpensive,simple,and reliable antibiotic detection methods is significant but also faces challenges.In this work,several lanthanide-organic frameworks(LOFs),constructed from lanthanide ions(Eu3+and/or Tb3+)and 1,3,5-benzene-tricarboxylic acid(BTC),were synthesized by solvothermal method.LOF-S3 with comparable emission peaks of 5D4→7F5(Tb3+,545 nm)and 5D0→7F2(Eu3+,618 nm)was selected as a luminescent sensor.In this system,the highly efficient energy transferred from the organic linker to lanthanide ions and from Tb3+to Eu3+occurs.LOF-S3 sensor was capable of decoding antibiotics by distinguishable emission intensity ratios.Therefore,a two-dimensional decoded map of antibiotics was established.The linear relationship between antibiotic concentration and emission intensity ratio indicated the quantitative determination of antibiotics was feasible.As a typical analyte,the response mechanism of nalidixic acid(NA)was investigated in detail.The competition of NA and BTC for UV light absorption,as well as the binding propensity of NA and Tb,affected the organic linkers-to-lanthanide ions and Tb-to-Eu energy transfer,resulting in the change of fluorescence intensity ratio.The self-calibrating mixed-LOF sensor overcame the uncontrollable errors of the traditional absolute emission intensity method and generated stable luminescent signals in multiple cycles.Furthermore,the integration of LOF-S3 with polymer fibers enabled the formation of a LOF-polymer fibrous composite with fluorescence detection capability,which is a promising portable sensor for practical applications.

Derived from neural stem cells(NSCs)and progenitor cells originated from the neuroectoderm,the nervous system presents an unprecedented degree of cellular diversity,interwoven to ensure correct connections for propagating information and responding to environ-mental cues.NSCs and progenitor cells must integrate cell-intrinsic programs and environmental cues to achieve production of appropriate types of neurons and glia at appropriate times and places during develop-ment.These developmental dynamics are reflected in changes in gene expression,which is regulated by transcription factors and at the epigenetic level.From early commitment of neural lineage to functional plas-ticity in terminal differentiated neurons,epigenetic regulation is involved in every step of neural develop-ment.Here we focus on the recent advance in our un-derstanding of epigenetic regulation on orderly genera-tion of diverse neural cell types in the mammalian nervous system,an important aspect of neural devel-opment and regenerative medicine.

Significant achievements have been made in breeding programs for the heavy-panicle-type(HPT)rice(Oryza sativa) in Southwest China. The HPT varieties now exhibit excellent lodging resistance,allowing them to overcome the greater pressures caused by heavy panicles. However, the genetic mechanism of this lodging resistance remains elusive. Here, we isolated a major quantitative trait locus, Panicle Neck Diameter 1(PND1), andidentified the causal gene as GRAIN NUMBER 1 A/CYTOKININ OXIDASE 2(Gn1 A/Os CKX2). The null gn1 a allele from rice line R498(gn1 aR498) improved lodging resistance through increasing the culm diameter and promoting crown root development.Loss-of-function of Gn1 a/Os CKX2 led to cytokinin accumulation in the crown root tip and accelerated the development of adventitious roots. Gene pyramiding between the null gn1 aR498 allele with two gain-of-function alleles, STRONG CULM 2(SCM2)and SCM3, further improved lodging resistance.Moreover, Gn1 a/Os CKX2 had minimal influence on overall rice quality. Our research thus highlights the distinct genetic components of lodging resistance of HPT varieties and provides a strategy for tailormade crop improvement of both yield and lodging resistance in rice.

As a newly discovered member of the ttmgstate famil3~ InWO4 hollow nanospheres with a monoclinic wolframite structure were synthesized successfully. The crystal phase of InWO4 was investigated via a combination of CASTEP geometric optimization and experimental simulation. InWO, has a space group of P2/c with two InWO, formula units per unit cell. The optimized cell dimensions are a = 5.16 A, b = 5.97 A, and c = 5.23 A, with a = 90°, β= 92.11°, 7 = 90°, giving a unit cell volume of 161.10 A^3, which is consistent with the experimental measurements. More importantly, InWO4 was a promising host material for different Ln^3＋（Ln = Eu and Yb/Er） ions. For InWO4：Yb^3＋/Er^3＋ excited at 980 nm, transitions from the ^4G11/2 （384 nm）, ^2H9/2 （411 nm）, and ^4F7/2 （487 nm） levels to the ground state （^4I15/2） of Er^3＋ were observed. In addition to the aforementioned properties, the InWO4 hollow nanospheres can be used to improve the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells, which is chiefly attributed to their light scattering.
