Characteristics of brainstem auditory evoked potentials of students studying folk dance

BACKGROUND： Previous experiments have demonstrated that brainstem auditory evoked potential is affected by exercise, exercise duration, and frequency. OBJECTIVE： Comparing the brainstem auditory evoked potential of students studying folk dance to students studying other subjects. DESIGN： Observational contrast study. SETTING： Physical Education College, Shandong Normal University PARTICIPANTS： Fifty-five female students were enrolled at Shandong Normal University between September and December in 2005, including 21 students that studied folk dance and 34 students that studied other subjects. The age of the folk dance students averaged （19 ± 1） years and dance training length was （6.0 ± 1.5） years. The students that studied other subjects had never taken part in dance training or other physical training, and their age averaged （22 ± 1） years, body height averaged （162 ± 5） cm, body mass averaged （51 ± 6） kg. All subjects had no prior ear disease or history of other neurological disorders. All students provided informed consent for the experimental project. METHODS： The neural electricity tester, NDI-200 （Shanghai Poseidon Medical Electronic Instrument Factory） was used to examine and record Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential values of the subjects during silence, as well as to transversally analyze the Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential values. The electrode positions were cleaned and degreased with soapy water, followed by ethanol. The selected bipolar electrodes were situated on the head： recording electrodes were placed at the Baihui acupoint, and the reference electrode was placed at the mastoid of the measured ear, with grounding electrodes in the center of the forehead. Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential values were elicited by monaural stimulation of a ＂click＂ though an earphone; the other ear was sheltered by the white noise. Appropriate stimulation in visual evoked potential to evaluate visual perception state of athletes

BACKGROUND： Several studies have demonstrated that visual evoked potentials can be influenced by sport events. To the best of our knowledge, there are no specific parameters for the most appropriate stimulation for evaluating the functional state of athletes. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the best stimulation in visual evoked potential to apply to functional evaluation of athletes. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Ninety-five, healthy students from the Shandong Normal University took part in an observational, contrast study. PARTICIPANTS： All active participants were male. Sixty-five students majored in physical education, and had participated in exercise for the duration of （4.26 ± 3.08） years. An additional 30 students majored in other subjects. METHODS： The neural electricity tester, NDI-200, was adapted to examine and record visual evoked potential with varying probes using bipolar electrodes attached to the head of all the participants in a dark room. The visual evoked potential values were analyzed transversally. A chessboard pattern reversal method was applied with the following parameters： 2 Hz stimulation frequency, brightness of 90 cdp, 80% contrast, 1-100 Hz bandpass filters, and 10 μV sensitivity; 100 responses were averaged. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： latency, peak latencies, and inter-peak latencies were measured in N75, P100, N145 with varying probe stimulations. RESULTS：（1） Comparisons between the little check, middle check, and big check stimulation, demonstrated that the common tendencies in visual evoked potential indexes of the two groups of N75 latency were successively shorter and N145 were longer. P100-N145 peak latency was decreased and each inter-peak latency was longer. （2） Changes of N75, P100, and N145 with different check stimulations in the physical education student group： after compared with the middle check stimulation, N75 latency was significantly longer （P 〈 0.01）, and N75-P100 inter-peak latency （P 〈 0.05） and N75-N145 inter-peak latency were

Numerical and Experimental Study on Aerodynamic Performance of Small Axial Flow Fan with Splitter Blades

To improve the aerodynamic performance of small axial flow fan, in this paper the design of a small axial flow fan with splitter blades is studied. The RNG k-e turbulence model and SIMPLE algorithm were applied to the steady simulation calculation of the flow field, and its result was used as the initial field of the large eddy simulation to calculate the unsteady pressure field. The FW-H noise model was adopted to predict aerodynamic noise in the six monitoring points. Fast Fourier transform algorithm was applied to process the pressure signal. Experiment of noise testing was done to further investigate the aerodynamic noise of fans. And then the results obtained from the numerical simulation and experiment were described and analyzed. The results show that the static characteristics of small axial fan with splitter blades are similar with the prototype fan, and the static characteristics are improved within a certain range of flux. The power spectral density at the six monitoring points of small axial flow fan with splitter blades have decreased to some extent. The experimental results show sound pressure level of new fan has reduced in most frequency bands by comparing with prototype fan. The research results will provide a proof for parameter optimization and noise prediction of small axial flow fans with high performance.

Experimental Investigations on Fiber Motion within Rotor Spinning Unit

An experimental platform is constructed to photograph fibers＇ motion within rotor spinning unit, which is mainly composed of a transparent rotor and a transport channel based on the similarity theory. The fibers will stretch and gather into a fiber bundle in the transport channel. The velocity of fibers is increasing along the inlet to the outlet of the transport channel, and the fibers＇ maximum velocity appears at the outlet of transport channel. The straightness of the fiber bundle is related to the convergence degree of the transport channel, and the greater the convergence degree is, the straighter the fiber bundle stretches. The results will provide a useful insight to the yam-forming mechanism of rotor spinning.

Three-dimensional Numerical Simulation of the Movement of the Flexible Body under Different Constraints

For the large deformation of the flexible body may cause the fluid grid distortion,which will make the numerical calculation tedious,even to end,the numerical simulation of the flexible body coupling with the fluid is always a tough *** this paper,the flexible body is under two kinds of constrained conditions and the ratio of length-diameter is 1:*** Reynolds number of the airflow is 513,belonging to the area of low Reynolds *** control equations of the coupling of flexible body with airflow are built and the adaptive grid control method is adopted to conduct the three-dimensional numerical simulation of the movement of the flexible *** numerical results show that it is possible to simulate the characteristics of the flexible body's movement in the low Reynolds number airflow when the appropriate control equations are modeled and suitable equation-solving method is *** flexible body would turn over forward along the airflow's diffusion direction,while constrained flexible body in the flow field will make periodic rotation motion along the axis of the flexible body,and the bending deformation is more obvious than that of unconstrained flexible *** preliminary three-dimensional numerical simulation can provide references for further research on the characteristics of the yam movement in high Reynolds number airflow.

Hydriding Pd cocatalysts： An approach to giant enhancement on photocatalytic CO2 reduction into CH4

Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into high value-added CH4 is a promising solution for energy and environmental crises. Integrating semiconductors with cocatalysts can improve the activities for photocatalytic CO2 reduction; however, most metal cocatalysts mainly produce CO and H2. Herein, we report a cocatalyst hydridation approach for significantly enhancing the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into CH4. Hydriding Pd cocatalysts into PdH0.43 played a dual role in performance enhancement. As revealed by our isotopic labeling experiments, the PdH0.43 hydride cocatalysts reduced H2 evolution, which suppressed the H2 production and facilitated the conversion of the CO intermediate into the final product： CH4. Meanwhile, hydridation promoted the electron trapping on the cocatalysts, improving the charge separation. This approach increased the photocatalytic selectivity in CH4 production from 3.2% to 63.6% on Pd{100} and from 15.6% to 73.4% on Pd{111}. The results provide insights into photocatalytic mechanism studies and introduce new opportunities for designing materials towards photocatalytic CO2 conversion.

CO_2 capture through halogen bonding: A theoretical perspective

Halogen bonding interactions between several halogenated ion pairs and CO2 molecules have been investigated by means of density functional theory calculations. To account for the influence of solvent environment, the implicit polarized continuum model was also employed. The bromide and iodide cations of ionic liquids (ILs) under study can interact with CO2 molecules via X O interactions, which become much stronger in strength than those in the complexes of iodo-perfluorobenzenes, very effective halogen bond donors, with CO2 molecules. Such interactions, albeit somewhat weaker in strength, are also observed between halogenated ion pairs and CO2 molecules. Thus, the solubility of CO2 may be improved when using halogenated ILs, as a result of the formation of X O halogen bonds. Under solvent effects, the strength of the interactions tends to be weakened to some degree, with a concomitant elongation of intermolecular distances. The results presented here would be very useful in the design and synthesis of novel and potent ILs for CO2 physical absorption.
