Recently,a novel 2-electron oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)based electro-oxidation(EO)system was developed,which utilizes a H_(2)O_(2)generation cathode instead of H_(2)evolution cathode.A Ti-based Ni-Sb co-doped SnO_(2)(Ti/NATO)anode was selected for efficient degradation of refractory organics and O_(3)*** synergistic reaction of O3/H_(2)O_(2)further accelerated the generation of hydroxyl radicals(·OH)in the ORR-EO ***,the catalytic activity and long-term effectiveness of the Ti/NATO anode limited the large-scale application of the ORR-EO *** this study,a blue TiO_(2)nanotube array(blue-TiO_(2)-NTA)inter-layer was introduced into the fabrication process between the Ti substrate and NATO catalyst *** to the Ti/NATO anode,the Ti/blue-TiO_(2)-NTA/NATO anode achieved higher efficiency of organic removal and O_(3)***,the accelerated lifetime of the Ti/blue-TiO_(2)-NTA/NATO anode was increased by 7 times compared to the Ti/NATO *** combined with cNTs-c/PTFE air cathode in ORR-EO system,all anodic oxidation and O_(3)/H_(2)O_(2)processes achieved higher•OH *** 92%of TOc in leachate bio-effluent was effectively eliminated with a relatively low energy cost of 45 kWh/t.

Min-max disagreements are an important generalization of the correlation clustering problem(corcP).It can be defined as *** a marked complete graph G=(V,E),each edge in the graph is marked by a positive label"+"or a negative label"_"based on the similarity of the connected *** goal is to find a clustering c of vertices V,so as to minimize the number of disagreements at the vertex with the most ***,the disagreements are the positive cut edges and the negative non-cut edges produced by clustering *** paper considers two robust min-max disagreements:min-max disagreements with outliers and min-max disagreements with *** parameter δ∈(0,1/14),we first provide a threshold-based iterative clustering algorithm based on LP-rounding technique,which is a(1/δ,7/(1-14δ))-bi-criteria approximation algorithm for both the min-max disagreements with outliers and the min-max disagreements with outliers on one-sided complete bipartite ***,we verify that the above algorithm can achieve an approximation ratio of 21 for min-max disagreements with penalties when we set parameter δ=1/21.

Protein tyrosine kinases (RTKs) modulate a wide range of pathophysiological events in several non-malignant disorders, including diabetic complications. To find new targets driving the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DcM), we profiled an RTKs phosphorylation array in diabetic mouse hearts and identified increased phosphorylated fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (p-FGFR1) levels in cardiomyocytes, indicating that FGFR1 may contribute to the pathogenesis of DcM. Using primary cardiomyocytes and H9c2 cell lines, we discovered that high-concentration glucose (HG) transactivates FGFR1 kinase domain through toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and c-Src, independent of FGF ligands. Knocking down the levels of either TLR4 or c-Src prevents HG-activated FGFR1 in cardiomyocytes. RNA-sequencing analysis indicates that the elevated FGFR1 activity induces pro-inflammatory responses via MAPKs–NFκB signaling pathway in HG-challenged cardiomyocytes, which further results in fibrosis and hypertrophy. We then generated cardiomyocyte-specific FGFR1 knockout mice and showed that a lack of FGFR1 in cardiomyocytes prevents diabetes-induced cardiac inflammation and preserves cardiac function in mice. Pharmacological inhibition of FGFR1 by a selective inhibitor, AZD4547, also prevents cardiac inflammation, fibrosis, and dysfunction in both type 1 and type 2 diabetic mice. These studies have identified FGFR1 as a new player in driving DcM and support further testing of FGFR1 inhibitors for possible cardioprotective benefits.

The inland saltwater lakes harbor exceptional ***,two new species of solitary sessile peritrich ciliates were isolated from Qinghai Lake,the largest inland saltwater lake in *** morphology,ciliature,silverline system,and molecular phylogeny were investigated based on live observation,silver staining,and analysis of the small subunit ribosomal DNA(SSU rDNA).Vorticella paraglobosa *** characterized mainly by its obconical or elongate bell-shaped zooid,c-shaped macronucleus,single ventrally located contractile vacuole,two-rowed infundibular polykinety 3,and 28-38 silverlines between peristome and aboral tro-chal band and 10-15 between aboral trochal band and *** cotyliformis *** from its congeners mainly by its double-layered peristomial lip,cup-shaped zooid,J-shaped macronucleus,single ventrally positioned contractile vacuole,three-rowed infundibular polykinety 3,and 70-85 silverlines between peristome and aboral trochal band and 21-25 between aboral trochal band and *** SSU rDNA sequences of the two new species were obtained,and the subsequent molecular phylogenetic analysis supported their taxonomic classification.

Surface/interface engineering of a multimetallic nanostructure with diverse electrocatalytic properties for direct liquid fuel cells is desirable yet ***,using visible light,a class of quaternary Pt_(1)Ag_(0.1)Bi_(0.16)Te_(0.29)ultrathin nanosheets is fabricated and used as high-performance anode electrocatalysts for formic acid-/alcohol-air fuel *** modified electronic structure of Pt,enhanced hydroxyl adsorption,and abundant exterior defects afford Pt_(1)Ag_(0.1)Bi_(0.16)Te_(0.29)/c high intrinsic anodic electrocatalytic activity to boost the power densities of direct formic acid-/methanol-/ethanol-/ethylene glycol-/glycerol-air fuel cells,and the corresponding peak power density of Pt_(1)Ag_(0.1)Bi_(0.16)Te_(0.29)/c is respectively 129.7,142.3,105.4,124.3,and 128.0 mW cm^(-2),considerably outperforming Pt/*** in situ Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy reveals that formic acid oxidation on Pt_(1)Ag_(0.1)Bi_(0.16)Te_(0.29)/c occurs via a cO_(2)-free direct *** functional theory calculations show that the presence of Ag,Bi,and Te in Pt_(1)Ag_(0.1)Bi_(0.16)Te_(0.29)suppresses cO^(*)formation while optimizing dehydrogenation steps and synergistic effect and modified Pt effectively enhance H_(2)O dissociation to improve electrocatalytic *** synthesis strategy can be extended to 43 other types of ultrathin multimetallic nanosheets(from ternary to octonary nanosheets),and efficiently capture precious metals(i.e.,Pd,Pt,Rh,Ru,Au,and Ag)from different water sources.

A biochar-supported green nZVI(G-nZVI@MKB)composite was synthesized using mango kernel waste with“dual identity”as reductant and biomass of *** G-nZVI@MKB with a Fe/c mass ratio of 2.0(G-nZVI@MKB2)was determined as the most favorable composite for hexavalent chromium(cr(VI))*** influencing parameters were discussed,and 99.0%of cr(VI)removal occurred within 360 min under these optimized ***-second order kinetic model and intra-particle diffusion model well depicted cr(VI)removal *** XRD,FTIR,SEM,and XPS analyses verified the key roles of G-nZVI and functional groups,as well as the primary removal mechanisms involving electrostatic attraction,reduction,and complexation.G-nZVI@MKB2 exhibited good stability and reusability with only a 16.4%decline in cr(VI)removal after five *** study offered evidence that mango kernel could be recycled as a beneficial resource to synthesize green nZVI-loaded biochar composite for efficient cr(VI)elimination from water.

Discrete element method(DEM)is an effective approach for studying the screening process of flip-flow ***,there have been few studies focusing on the thick layer of sticky-wet particles on flip-flow *** achieve accurate simulations of the thick layer of sticky-wet particles on a flip-flow screen,firstly,the movement law of particle flow was studied,and a multi-regime combination cali-bration method based on characteristics of particle flow regimes was *** on the Plackett-Burman experiment,the curse of dimensionality caused by multi-state and multi-contact parameters was ***,the lifting cylinder,rotating drum,and trampoline tests were carried out to obtain macroscopic reference values under various granular flow *** calibration results were then determined using the response surface method and climbing ***,the calibration results were tested at both macroscopic and mesoscopic scales and compared with a commonly used calibration *** results demonstrate that the calibration method,which considers the multi-state characteristics,improves simulation accuracy by 2%-10%and reduces the simulation error to less than 10%,thus meeting the requirements for engineering optimization of flip-flow screens.

Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)(NVP),as a great potential cathode candidate for Na-ion batteries(NIBs),has attracted enormous interest due to its three-dimensional(3D)large open framework for convenient Na+transport,yet its practical application is still limited by its inferior electron conductivity and sluggish Na+diffusion ***,the tiny cr doped hierarchical NVP micro-flower cathodes(i.e.,Na_(3)V_(2-x)crx(PO_(4))_(3)@c,x≤0.1),which are self-assembled with single-crystal nanoflake subunits in-situ coated with carbon nano-shell,are designed and fabricated via a scalable *** optimized cathode,i.e.,Na_(3)V_(1.94)cr_(0.06)(PO_(4))_(3)@c(NVcP-6),was endowed with more electro-active Na(2)sites and higher electronic/ionic conductivity for efficient sodium *** from these competitive merits,the NVcP-6,when evaluated as a cathode towards NIBs,exhibits an ultrahigh-rate capability of 99.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 200 c and superior stability of 82.2%over 7300 cycles at 50 ***,the NVcP-6 based full NIBs display remarkable electrochemical properties in terms of both high-rate capacities and long-duration cycling properties at different temperatures(-20–50°c).The contribution,i.e.,the design of“four ounces can move a thousand pounds”,here will promote the practical industrial application of NVP towards advanced NIBs.

Experimental Study on Impingement Processes of Fuel Sprays on Biomimetic Structured Surfaces

To improve the controllability of the wall-wetting process after the fuel spray-wall impingement in internal combustion engines,the methods of laser etching,chemical etching and surface free energy modification are used to prepare biomimetic structured surfaces with different *** impingement processes of diesel and n-butanol sprays on the walls under different conditions are experimentally *** the surface oleophilicity increases,the spreading radius of wall-impinging sprays *** about 5 s after the fuel injections,the fuel spray droplets hit the walls for the first time,and the secondary breakup and rebound *** mixture concentrations of different fuels hitting the various walls reach the peak *** a higher surface temperature,the peak value of the mixture concentration is mainly related to the heat flux to the fuel droplets in different boiling regimes from the metal *** concentration of the air–fuel mixture in the near wall region increases with increasing surface oleophilicity,increasing wall temperature and decreasing ambient *** with diesel,n-butanol presents a higher air–fuel mixture concentration in the near wall region.

Metal-organic framework/organosilica hybrid membranes on tubular ceramic substrates have shown great potential for the implementation of membrane technology in practical gas separation projects due to their higher permeance compared to commercial ***,the selectivities of the reported membranes are ***,we have incorporated urea-modulated metal-organic frameworks into organosilica membranes to greatly enhance its separation *** urea-modulated metal-organic frameworks exhibit less-defined edges of crystallographic facets and high defect *** can be well-dispersed in the organosilica layer,which substantially suppresses the interfacial defects between metal-organic frameworks and organosilica,which is beneficial for improving the selectivity of membranes for gas *** results have shown that the enhanced ideal selectivity of H_(2)/cH_(4) was 165 and that of cO_(2)/cH_(4) was 43,with H_(2) permeance of about 1.25×10^(−6) mol·m^(−2)·s^(−1)·Pa^(−1) and cO_(2) permeance of 3.27×10^(−7) mol·m^(−2)·s^(−1)·Pa^(−1) at 0.2 MPa and 25℃.In conclusion,the high level of hybrid membranes can be used to separate H_(2)(or cO_(2))from the binary gas mixture H_(2)/cH_(4)(or cO_(2)/cH_(4)),which is important for gas separation in practical ***,the simple and feasible modulation of metal-organic framework is a promising strategy to tune different metal-organic frameworks for membranes according to the actual demands.
