Numerical Investigation on Characteristics of Supercritical CO_(2)Heat Transfer in Vertical Circular Tubes with Circumferentially Half-Side Heating

The design of heat exchangers in the advanced supercritical power conversion system cannot be separated from the study of heat transfer ***-side heating mode is often encountered for solar receiver and supercritical ***,the characteristics of supercritical CO_(2)(sCO_(2))convection heat transfer in vertical tubes with circumferentially half-side heating was numerically investigated through the SST k-ωturbulent model which matches well with the experimental ***,heat transfer between sCO_(2)upflow and downflow was *** to film boiling heat transfer at subcritical pressure,numerical results were processed according to the supercritical pseudo-phase transition hypothesis,with liquid-like phase in the tube core region and vapor-like film in the region near the heated tube *** structure of two layers was demarcated by pseudo-critical temperature T_(pc).Therefore,sCO_(2)heat transfer was assessed according to double thermal resistances caused by vapor-like film near the wall and core liquid-like *** findings suggest that wall temperature for upflow is higher than that for downflow,which is attributed to larger thermal resistance in the fluid domain for upflow than that for *** difference guarantees the excellent heat transfer performance for downflow than *** is also further concluded that the formation of vapor-like film near the wall due to pseudo-phase transition plays a key role in dominating wall temperature and inducing heat transfer deterioration in half-side heating *** present contribution is significant to the design of supercritical heat exchanger under half-side heating mode.

Bilayer Compounded Polytetrafluoroethylene Membrane for Enhanced Oil-Water Emulsion Separation

In order to achieve efficient and durable oil-water emulsion separation,the membranes possessing high separation efficiency and mechanical strength attract extensive attention and are in great *** present study,a kind of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)-based bilayer membrane was fabricated by electrospinning fibrous PTFE(fPTFE)on an expanded PTFE(ePTFE)*** morphological observation revealed that the fibrous structure of the fPTFE layer could be tailored by controlling the formulation of spinning *** addition of appropriate polyoxyethylene(PEO)would make the fibers in the fPTFE layer finer and more *** a result,the compounded membrane exhibited a small pore size of approximately 1.25µm and a substantial porosity nearing 80%.This led to super-hydrophobicity,characterized by a high water contact angle(WCA)of 149.8°,and facilitated rapid oil *** water-in-oil emulsion separation experiment further confirmed that the compounded membrane not only had a high separation efficiency closing 100%,but such an outstanding separation capacity could be largely retained,either through multiple cycles of use or through strong acid(pH=1),strong alkali(pH=12),or high-temperature(100°C)***,the mechanical behavior of the bilayer membrane was basically contributed by that of each layer in terms of their volume *** significantly,the poor creep resistance of fPTFE layer was suppressed by compounding with ePTFE ***,this study has laid the groundwork for a novel approach to create PTFE-based compounded membranes with exceptional overall characteristics,showing promise for applications in the realm of emulsion separation.

Gastric cancer cells induce human CD4^+ Foxp3^+ regulatory T cells through the production of TGF-β1

AIM: To elucidate the molecular and cellular features responsible for the increase of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in gastric cancer. METHODS: The frequencies of CD4 + Foxp3 + Tregs and the level of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) were analyzed from 56 patients with gastric cancer byflow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay respectively. Foxp3 gene expression was analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. The gastric cancer microenvironment was modeled by establishing the coculture of gastric cancer cell line, MGC-803, with sorting CD4 + T cells. The normal gastric mucosa cell line, GES-1, was used as the control. The production of TGF-β1 was detected in supernatant of MGC and GES-1. The carboxyfluorescein diacetatesuccinimidyl ester (CFSE) dilution assay was performed to evaluate the proliferation characteristics of induced Tregs. Neutralizing anti-TGF-β1 antibody was added to the co-culture system for neutralization experiments. RESULTS: The level of serum TGF-β1 in gastric cancer patients (15.1 ± 5.5 ng/mL) was significantly higher than that of the genderand age-matched healthy controls (10.3 ± 3.4 ng/mL) (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the higher TGF-β1 level correlated with the increased population of CD4 + Foxp3 + Tregs in advanced gastric cancer (r = 0.576, P < 0.05). A significant higher frequency of CD4 + Foxp3 + Tregs was observed in PBMCs cultured with the supernatant of MGC than GES-1 (10.6% ± 0.6% vs 8.7% ± 0.7%, P < 0.05). Moreover, using the purified CD4 + CD25 T cells, we confirmed that the increased Tregs were mainly induced from the conversation of CD4 + CD25 naive T cells, and induced Tregs were functional and able to suppress the proliferation of effector T cells. Finally, we demonstrated that gastric cancer cells induced the increased CD4 + Foxp3 + Tregs via producing TGF-β1. Gastric cancer cells upregulated the production of TGF-β1 and blockade of TGF-β1 partly abrogated Tregs phenotype. CONCLUSION: Gastric cancer cell can induce

BACKGROUND Rectus abdominis separation(DRA)affects pelvic stability and body *** studies have explored the effects of manual massage on early postpartum DRA and postpartum *** To analyze the curative effect of massage on early postpartum DRA and its impact on postpartum depression and thus its ability promote the overall psychosomatic rehabilitation of postpartum *** Data were retrospectively collected on 70 primiparous women with postpartum DRA who underwent rehabilitation at the Postpartum Rehabilitation Center of Huzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from October 2022 to September *** patients were divided into the Group S(35 cases,biomimetic electrical stimulation treatment)and Group L(35 cases,biomimetic electrical stimulation combined with manual massage treatment).Baseline data,the edinburgh postpartum depression scale(EPDS)score,and the visual analog scale(VAS)scores for rectus abdominis distance,waist circumference,and lower back pain before and after treatment were *** No significant differences were found in the baseline data,rectus abdominis distance,waist circumference,and VAS and EPDS scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,the distance between rectus abdominis and waist circumference in Group L were significantly smaller than those in Group S(P<0.05).Furthermore,lower back pain(VAS score)and the EPDS score in Group L were significantly lower than those in Group S(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Manual massage can significantly reduce early postpartum DRA,waist circumference,and back pain and improve the patient’s mental state and postpartum depression.

The discrete element method(DEM)was used in this study to numerically simulate the mixing process and motion law of particles in brown rice germination *** the reliability of simulation experiments was verified through physical *** the discrete element simulation experiment,there were three mixing stages in the mixing process of the *** particle motion conditions at different rotational speeds were rolling,cascading,cataracting and *** lower the filling degree,the higher the particle mixing *** radial trajectory of the particles was approximated as an elliptical helix that continuously shrank towards the *** research results indicated that under the same speed and filling conditions,the motion of brown rice particles in both the simulated and physical test environments is rolling and the drop height is the same.

Objective:To assess efficacy of Chinese medicine(CM)on insomnia considering characteristics of treatment based on syndrome ***:A total of 116 participants aged 18 to 65 years with moderate and severe primary insomnia were randomized to the placebo(n=20)or the CM group(n=96)for a 4-week treatment and a 4-week *** CM clinicians independently prescribed treatments for each patient based on syndromes *** primary outcome was change in total sleep time(TST)from *** endpoints included sleep onset latency(SOL),wake time after sleep onset(WASO),sleep efficiency,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and CM ***:The CM group had an average 0.6 h more(95%confidence interval(CI):0.3–0.9,P<0.001)TST and 34.1%(10.3%–58.0%,P=0.005)more patients beyond 0.5 h TST increment than that of the placebo *** was changed–3.3(–3.8 to–2.7)in the CM group,a–2.0(–3.2 to–0.8,P<0.001)difference from the placebo *** CM symptom score in the CM group decreased–2.0(–3.3 to–0.7,P=0.003)more than the placebo *** and WASO changes were not significantly different between *** analysis of prescriptions by these clinicians revealed blood deficiency and Liver stagnation as the most common *** for these clinicians displayed relative stability,while the herbs *** adverse events were mild and were not related to study ***:CM treatment based on syndrome differentiation can increase TST and improve sleep quality of primary *** is effective and safe for primary *** future studies,the long-term efficacy validation and the exploratory of eutherapeutic clinicians'fixed herb formulas should be addressed.(Registration ***01613183).

Nuclear volume effects in kinetic isotope fractionation:A case study of mercury oxidation by chlorine species

It is well-known that the equilibrium isotope fractionation of mercury(Hg)includes classical massdependent fractionations(MDFs)and nuclear volume effect(NVE)induced mass-independent fractionations(MIFs).However,the effect of the NVE on these kinetic processes is not *** total fractionations(MDFs+NVEinduced MIFs)of several representative Hg-incorporated substances were selected and calculated with ab initio calculations in this work for both equilibrium and kinetic ***-induced MIFs were calculated with scaled contact electron densities at the nucleus through systematic evaluations of their accuracy and errors using the Gaussian09 and DIRAC19 packages(named the electron density scaling method).Additionally,the NVE-induced kinetic isotope effect(KIE)of Hg isotopes are also calculated with this method for several representative Hg oxidation reactions by chlorine *** KIEs for 202 Hg/^(198)Hg ranging from−2.27‰to 0.96‰are *** anomalous^(202)Hg-enriched KIEs(δ^(202)Hg/^(198)Hg=0.83‰,0.94‰,and 0.96‰,)caused by the NVE are observed,which are quite different from the classical view(i.e.,light isotopes react faster than the heavy ones).The electron density scaling method we developed in this study can provide an easier way to calculate the NVE-induced KIEs for heavy isotopes and serve to better understand the fractionation mechanisms of mercury isotope systems.
