Cryptorchid testicular torsion in children characteristics and treatment outcomes

This study aimed to review and compare the characteristics and treatment outcomes of cryptorchid testicular torsion in pre-and postpubertal *** reviewed the clinical data of 22 patients with testicular torsion complicated by cryptorchidism who were treated between January 2010 and December *** were categorized into prepubertal(1 month to 9 years;n=12)and postpubertal groups(10-16 years;n=10).The age at presentation,clinical presentations,physical examination,and operation outcomes were *** common clinical presentations in both groups were inguinal pain and a tender inguinal *** in the prepubertal group were significantly more likely to present with restlessness(33.3%)than those in the postpubertal group(0%;P-0.044).After detorsion,testicular blood flow recovered during surgery in 25.0%of the prepubertal and 80.0%of the postpubertal patients(P=0.010).Orchiectomy was required in 50.0%of the prepubertal and 20.0%of the postpubertal patients(P=0.145).Of the 22 patients with follow-up data,the rates of testicular salvage were significantly different,at 16.7%in the prepubertal patients and 60.0%in the postpubertal patients(P=0.035).Cryptorchid testicular torsion has various *** an empty hemiscrotum and a painful groin mass were common in both groups,restlessness was more prevalent in the prepubertal patients during early testicular torsion onset than that in the postpubertal ***,the testicular salvage rate was significantly lower in the prepubertal patients than that in the postpubertal patients.

In order to establish grading standards of evaluation indices for sour flavor of apples, 10 indices of samples from 106 apple cultivars were tested, including： malic acid（Mal）, oxalic acid（Oxa）, citric acid（Cit）, lactic acid（Lac）, succinic acid（Suc）, fumaric acid（Fum）, total organic acids（To A, the sum of the six organic acids tested）, titratable acid（TiA）, acidity value（AcV）, and pH value. For most of the cultivars studied（85.8%）, the order of the organic acid contents in apples was Mal〉Oxa〉Cit〉Lac〉Suc〉Fum. Mal was the dominant organic acid, on average, accounting for 94.5% of To A. Among the 10 indices, the dispersion of pH value was the smallest with a coefficient of variation of only 8.2%, while the coefficients of variation of the other nine indices were larger, ranging between 31 and 66%. There were significant linear relationships between Mal and two indices（ToA and AcV） as well as between ToA and AcV. There were significant logarithmic relationships between pH value and four indices： Mal, TiA, ToA, and AcV. All the equations had very high fitting accuracy and can be used to accurately predict related indices. According to this study, Mal, ToA, and AcV of apple were normally distributed, TiA was close to normally distributed, whereas pH value had a skewed distribution. Using the fitted normal distribution curves, the grading standards of Mal, TiA, ToA, and AcV were established. The grading node values of pH value were obtained using the logarithmic relationship between pH value and Mal. The grading standards of these five indices can be used to evaluate the sour flavor of apple. This study provides a scientific basis for evaluating apple flavor and selecting apple cultivars.

Secretory pore-forming proteins(PFPs) have been identified in organisms from all kingdoms of life. Our studies with the toad species Bombina maxima found an interaction network among aerolysin family PFPs(af-PFPs) and trefoil factors(TFFs). As a toad af-PFP, Bm ALP1 can be reversibly regulated between active and inactive forms, with its paralog Bm ALP3 acting as a negative regulator. Bm ALP1 interacts with Bm TFF3 to form a cellular active complex called βγ-CAT. This PFP complex is characterized by acting on endocytic pathways and forming pores on endolysosomes, including stimulating cell macropinocytosis. In addition, cell exocytosis can be induced and/or modulated in the presence of βγ-CAT. Depending on cell contexts and surroundings, these effects can facilitate the toad in material uptake and vesicular transport, while maintaining mucosal barrier function as well as immune defense. Based on experimental evidence,we hereby propose a secretory endolysosome channel(SELC) pathway conducted by a secreted PFP in cell endocytic and exocytic systems, with βγ-CAT being the first example of a SELC protein. With essential roles in cell interactions and environmental adaptations, the proposed SELC protein pathway should be conserved in other living organisms.

Seventy percentage of perimenopausal and early postmenopausal women will experience menopause symptoms. Primary menopause symptoms in Westem countries included hot flashes, insomnia, somatic pain, depression, and fatigue. Hot flashes were most commonly treated. Menopausal hormone replacement therapy （HRT） continues to have a clinical role in the management of vasomotor symptoms, but since 2002 there has been a marked global decline in its use due to concerns about the risks and benefits of HRT; consequently many women with menopause symptoms are now seeking alternatives including acupuncture. Acupuncture has a long tradition of use for the treatment of different menopause symptoms. Its effectiveness has been studied for natural menopause or chemical and surgery induced menopause. Here we provide an update on recent advances in the field for clinicians. The recent systematic reviews on acupuncture in menopausal symptoms suggest that acupuncture is aneffective and valuable option for women suffering from menopause. However, the science of acupuncture therapies is still inadequate to sufficiently support the benefits of acupuncture therapies. Finally, we discuss our points of view on clinical trials of acupuncture for menopause symptoms.

Focused energy delivery(FED) is a technique that can precisely bring energy to the specific region,which arouses wide attention in precision electronic warfare(PREW).This paper first proposes a joint optimization model with respect to the locations of the array and the transmitted signals to improve the performance of *** the problem is nonconvex and NP-hard,particle swarm optimization(PSO) is adopted to solve the locations of the array,while designing the transmitted signals under a feasible array is considered as a unimodular quadratic program(UQP) subproblem to calculate the fitness criterion of *** the PSO-UQP framework established,two methods are presented for the UQP subproblem,which are more efficient and more accurate respectively than previous ***,a threshold value is set in the framework to determine which method to adopt to take full advantages of the methods ***,we obtain the maximum localization error that FED can tolerate,which is significant for implementing FED in *** results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the joint optimization algorithm,and the correctness of the maximum localization error derived.
