Seasonal malaria chemoprevention in Africa and China's upgraded role as a contributor:a scoping review

Background Children under five are the vulnerable population most at risk of being infected with Plasmodium para-sites,especially in the Sahel *** malaria chemoprevention(SMC)recommended by World Health Organi-zation(WHO),has proven to be a highly effective intervention to prevent *** more deaths reported during the COVID-19 pandemic than in previous years due to the disruptions to essential medical services,it is,therefore,necessary to seek a more coordinated and integrated approach to increasing the pace,coverage and resilience of *** this end,fully leverage the resources of major players in the global fight against malaria,such as China could accelerate the SMC process in *** We searched PubMed,MEDLINE,Web of Science,and Embase for research articles and the Institutional Repository for Information Sharing of WHO for reports on *** used gap analysis to investigate the challenges and gaps of SMC since *** the above methods to explore China's prospective contribution to *** A total of 68 research articles and reports were *** gap analysis,we found that despite the delays in the SMC campaign,11.8 milion children received SMC in ***,there remained some challenges:(1)a shortage of fully covered monthly courses;(2)lack of adherence to the second and third doses of amodiaquine;(3)four courses of SMC are not sufficient to cover the entire malaria transmission season in areas where the peak transmission lasts longer;(4)additional interventions are needed to consolidate SMC *** was certified malaria-free by WHO in 2021,and its experience and expertise in malaria elimination can be shared with high-burden *** the potential to join the multilateral cooperation in SMC,including the supply of quality-assured health commodities,know-how transfer and experience sharing,China is expected to contribute to the ongoing Scale-up of *** A combination of necessary prevent

Icaritin inhibits the progression of urothelial cancer by suppressing PADI2-mediated neutrophil infiltration and neutrophil extracellular trap formation

Deuterium distribution and behavior of blisters in pre-damaged and undamaged tungsten

Development of Ti–V–Cr–Mn–Mo–Ce high-entropy alloys for high-density hydrogen storage in water bath environments

The V-based body-centered cubic （BCC）-type hydrogen storage alloys have attracted significant attention due to their high theoretical hydrogen storage capacity of3.80 wt%.However,their practical application faces challenges related to low dehydriding capacity and poor activation *** overcome these challenges,a BCC-type Ti–V–Cr–Mn–Mo–Ce high-entropy alloy（HEA） with an effectively dehydriding capacity of 2.5 wt% above 0.1 MPa was *** introduction of Mo and conducting heat treatment,the precipitation of Ti-rich phase in HEA was successfully suppressed,resulting in improved compositional uniformity and dehydriding ***,the effective dehydriding capacity increased significantly from 0.60 wt% to 2.50 wt% a65℃,surpassing that of other types of hydrogen storage alloys under the same ***,the addition of 1 wt%Ce enabled initial hydrogen absorption at 25℃ without the need for activation at 400℃.Furthermore,Ce doping reduced the dehydriding activation energy of the Ti–V–Cr–Mn–Mo–Ce HEA from 52.71 to 42.82 kJ·mol-1Additionally,the enthalpy value of dehydrogenation decreased from 46.89 to 17.96 k J·mol-1,attributed to a decrease in the hysteresis factor from 0.68 to *** findings provide valuable insights for optimizing the hydrogen storage property of HEA.

Association between glucose-lowering drugs and circulating insulin antibodies induced by insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes

BACKGROUND Insulin antibodies(IAs)affect blood glucose control in patients receiving insulin *** To investigate the relationship between different hypoglycemic treatments and IAs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS This cross-sectional,retrospective study included 1863 patients with T2DM who were receiving exogenous insulin *** patients received stable antidiabetic therapy in the last 3 months and IA levels were measured using an iodine-125 *** A total of 1863 patients were *** were 902(48.4%)patients who had positive IAs(IA level>5%),with a mean IA level of 11.06%(10.39%-11.72%).IA levels were positively correlated with high fasting blood glucose(odds ratio=1.069,Phuman insulin only(70.3%),P<*** IA levels in patients using sulfonylureas/glinides(8.3%),metformin(9.6%),and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors(8.2%)were all lower than in patients without these drugs(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION Nearly half of patients on insulin therapy have positive IA antibodies,and IA antibody levels are associated with blood glucose *** glargine and a combination of oral glucose-lowering drugs were correlated with lower IA levels.

Evaluation of the energy budget of thermokarst lake in permafrost regions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Thermokarst lake formation accelerates permafrost degradation due to climate warming,thereby releasing significant amounts of carbon into the atmosphere,complicating hydrological cycles,and causing environmental ***,the energy transfer mechanism from the surface to the sediment of thermokarst lakes remains largely unexplored,thereby limiting our understanding of the magnitude and duration of biogeochemical processes and hydrological ***,herein,a typical thermokarst lake situated in the center of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)was selected for observation and energy budget *** results showed that the net radiation of the thermokarst lake surface was 95.1,156.9,and 32.3 W m^(-2) for the annual,ice-free,and ice-covered periods,respectively,and was approximately 76%of the net radiation consumed by latent heat *** in heat storage in the thermokarst lake initially increased from January to April,then decreased from April to December,with a maximum change of 48.1 W m^(-2) in *** annual average heat fuxes from lake water to sediments were 1.4 W m^(-2);higher heat fluxes occurred during the ice-free season at a range of 4.9-12.0 W m^(-2).The imbalance between heat absorption and release in the millennium scale caused the underlying permafrost of the thermokarst lake to completely *** present,the ground temperature beneath the lake bottom at a depth of 15 m has reached 2.0℃.The temperatures and vapor-pressure conditions of air and lake surfaces control the energy budget of the thermokarst *** findings indicate that changes in the hydrologic regime shifts and biogeochemical processes are more frequent under climate warming and permafrost degradation.

Plant diversity increases diversity and network complexity rather than alters community assembly processes of leaf-associated fungi in a subtropical forest

Plant diversity significantly impacts ecosystem processes and functions, yet its influence on the community assembly of leaf fungi remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated leaf epiphytic and endophytic fungal communities in a Chinese subtropical tree species richness experiment, ranging from 1 to 16 species, using amplicon sequencing to target the internal transcribed spacer 1 region of the rDNA. We found that the community assembly of epiphytic and endophytic fungi was predominantly governed by stochastic processes, with a higher contribution of dispersal limitation on epiphytic than on endophytic fungal communities but a higher contribution of selection on endophytic than on epiphytic fungal communities. The plant-epiphytic fungus interaction network was more complex(e.g., more highly connected and strongly nested but less specialized and modularized) than the plant-endophytic fungus interaction network. Additionally,tree species richness was positively correlated with the network complexity and diversity of epiphytic(α-, β-and γ-diversity) and endophytic(β-and γ-diversity) fungi, but was not associated with the contribution of the stochastic and deterministic processes on the community assembly of epiphytic and endophytic fungi. This study highlights that tree species diversity enhances the diversity and network complexity,rather than alters the ecological processes in community assembly of leaf-associated fungi.
