Digital surface model applied to unmanned aerial vehicle based photogrammetry to assess potential biotic or abiotic effects on grapevine canopies

Accurate data acquisition and analysis to obtain crop canopy information are critical steps to understand plant growth dynamics and to assess the potential impacts of biotic or abiotic stresses on plant development.A versatile and easy to use monitoring system will allow researchers and growers to improve the follow-up management strategies within farms once potential problems have been *** study reviewed existing remote sensing platforms and relevant information applied to crops and specifically grapevines to equip a simple Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)using a visible high definition RGB *** objective of the proposed Unmanned Aerial System(UAS)was to implement a Digital Surface Model(DSM)in order to obtain accurate information about the affected or missing grapevines that can be attributed to potential biotic or abiotic stress *** analysis process started with a three-dimensional(3D)reconstruction from the RGB images collected from grapevines using the UAS and the Structure from Motion(SfM)technique to obtain the DSM applied on a per-plant ***,the DSM was expressed as greyscale images according to the halftone technique to finally extract the information of affected and missing grapevines using computer vision algorithms based on canopy cover measurement and *** validate the automated method proposed,each grapevine row was visually inspected within the study *** inspection was then compared to the digital assessment using the proposed UAS in order to validate calculations of affected and missing grapevines for the whole studied *** showed that the percentage of affected and missing grapevines was 9.5%and 7.3%,respectively from the area ***,for this specific study,the abiotic stress that affected the experimental vineyard(frost)impacted a total of 16.8%of *** study provided a new method for automatically surveying affected or missing grapevines in the field and an evaluation tool fo

Coenotypes in Submerged Paleoforests in the Qianhu Bay,Fujian Province

The paleoforest remains studied are distributed within a range of 18000 m^2 in the intertidal zone of the Qianhu Bay, Fujian Province. Eighty-nine ancient tree stumps can be clearly recognized in the paleoforest remains. Microscopic studies of 10 relatively low-carbonized stump samples definitely showed four species： Glyptostrobus pensUi （Staunt） Kouch, Schima superba Gardn., Cinnamomum Schaeffer, and Litsea Lam. The 14^C dating of some samples yielded the ages of 42560±350 to 〉43000 a B. P., corresponding to the late Late Pleistocene.

Segmentation of field grape bunches via an improved pyramid scene parsing network

With the continuous expansion of wine grape planting areas,the mechanization and intelligence of grape harvesting have gradually become the future development *** order to guide the picking robot to pick grapes more efficiently in the vineyard,this study proposed a grape bunches segmentation method based on Pyramid Scene Parsing Network(PSPNet)deep semantic segmentation network for different varieties of grapes in the natural field *** this end,the Convolutional Block Attention Module(CBAM)attention mechanism and the atrous convolution were first embedded in the backbone feature extraction network of the PSPNet model to improve the feature extraction ***,the proposed model also improved the PSPNet semantic segmentation model by fusing multiple feature layers(with more contextual information)extracted by the backbone *** improved PSPNet was compared against the original PSPNet on a newly collected grape image dataset,and it was shown that the improved PSPNet model had an Intersection-over-Union(IoU)and Pixel Accuracy(PA)of 87.42%and 95.73%,respectively,implying an improvement of 4.36%and 9.95%over the original PSPNet *** improved PSPNet was also compared against the state-of-the-art DeepLab-V3+and U-Net in terms of IoU,PA,computation efficiency and robustness,and showed promising *** is concluded that the improved PSPNet can quickly and accurately segment grape bunches of different varieties in the natural field environments,which provides a certain technical basis for intelligent harvesting by grape picking robots.

The Mechanism of Morin Combined with Celastrol Induces Apoptosis and Inhibits the Growth of Lung Cancer

Morin is a functional flavonoid commonly found in human diet. Compared to being used solely， it is evident that morin can be more effective as a drug adjuvant. However， research on the combined effect and its corresponding mechanism is limited. Here， we found that morin significantly potentiated the inhibitory effects of the natural compound celastrol on the proliferation of lung cancer cells. Morin and celastrol synergistically exhibit marked apoptosis induction in lung cancer cells， accompanied by changes in the abundance of apoptosis-related proteins. Transcriptome analyses revealed that the combination of morin and celastrol had a significant impact on the number of differentially expressed genes in lung cancer cells. Among these genes， BIRC3 was one of the most significantly different ones， which plays a crucial role in the process of tumor resistance to apoptosis. In addition， several genes identified are primarily associated with intracellular signal transduction pathways， specifically the NF-κB signaling pathway. Importantly， the treatment combining morin and celastrol in tumor-bearing mice results in a synergistic effect that significantly suppressed tumor growth. These findings indicate that morin could be a promising functional adjuvant， and the combination of morin and celastrol has potential for the treating lung cancer.

Anthocyanin profi les and color properties of red wines made from Vitis davidii and Vitis vinifera grapes

Spine grape(Vitis davidii Foex.)is an important wild grape species native to *** red spine grape clones and three red Vitis vinifera grape varieties were used to evaluate the differences in the anthocyanin profiles and color properties of wines made from *** and *** *** spine wines,‘Junzi#2’wine had the highest total phenolic and total anthocyanin,‘Xiangzhenzhu’wine had the highest total flavonoids,and‘Junzi#1’wine had the highest total *** anthocyanin compositions of all of the spine wines were dominated by Mv-3,*** total individual anthocyanin contents in spine wines,except‘Gaoshan#5’,‘Junzi#5055’,‘Junzi#5061’,and‘Junzi#5044’,were signifi cantly higher than in *** *** of the spine wines had a stronger red intensity and a brighter chroma with a bluer hue than *** *** analysis revealed that the color properties were closely related to the anthocyanin *** results suggest that wines made from spine grapes may be useful for the wine industry for their color properties and high individual anthocyanin contents.

Development of a mobile application for identification of grapevine(Vitis vinifera L.)cultivars via deep learning

Traditional vine variety identification methods usually rely on the sampling of vine leaves followed by physical,physiological,biochemical and molecular measurement,which are destructive,time-consuming,labor-intensive and require experienced grape phenotype *** mitigate these problems,this study aimed to develop an application(App)running on Android client to identify the wine grape automatically and in real-time,which can help the growers to quickly obtain the variety *** results showed that all Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)classification algorithms could achieve an accuracy of over 94%for twenty-one categories on validation data,which proves the feasibility of using transfer deep learning to identify grape species in field *** particular,the classification model with the highest average accuracy was GoogLeNet(99.91%)with a learning rate of 0.001,mini-batch size of 32,and maximum number of epochs in *** results of the App on Android devices also confirmed these results.

Widely targeted metabolomics analysis of the effects of probiotic fermentation on the phytochemicals of kiwifruit juice and prediction of key metabolic pathways

Metabolomics can be used to identify the changes and metabolic pathways of nutrients and flavor substances in foods at specific processing or fermentation stages. This study revealed the accumulation and degradation of phytochemicals during the fermentation of kiwifruit juice (KJ) by lactic acid bacteria (LAB) through widely targeted metabolomics and explored the impact of different fermentation strategies on the nutritional quality and functional characteristics of KJ. LAB utilized the original sugars， acids， amino acids， and nucleotides of the matrix to produce numerous bioactive compounds， including phenols， organic acids， free fatty acids， and vitamins， while achieving bacterial proliferation and reduced anti-nutritional factors such as alkaloids， thus improving the nutritional and functional properties of KJ. Moreover， compared with monoculture fermentation， mixed fermentation promoted the production of more biologically active phenols and alkaloids， among which vanillic acid and luteolin-8-C-arabinoside were the characteristic metabolites of mixed and mono- fermentation. Subsequently， the metabolic pathways of key metabolites were predicted， including the glycolytic Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas pathway， pentose phosphoketolase pathway， organic acid metabolic and arginine deiminase pathways for improving the acid resistance of LAB， and the phenolic-acid–based phenylalanine and tyrosine metabolic pathway.

Genetical study on the parthenogenesis in Laminaria japonica

The parthenogenesis and natural doubling of chromosomes in wild type female gametophytes of Laminaria japonica were studied. The results indicate that not all the female gametophytes from the wild type hybrid parent can propagate through parthenogenesis. Most parthenosporophytes can mature, their spores germinate into gametophytes, the latter then developed into female sporophytes. To form these parthenosporophytes the natural doubling of chromosomes occurred mainly at the first and second cell divisions of the spores. It is thus considered that the parthenogenesis of L. japonica is inheritable and the relative genes link closely with the genes controlling the natural doubling of chromosomes and the female determination.
