Prevalence and genotype of Chlamydia psittaci in faecal samples of birds from zoos and pet markets in Kunming, Yunnan, China

Chlamydia psittaci is an important zoonotic pathogen in birds and may be transmitted to humans and result in severe respiratory disease. To assess the prevalence and genotype of C. psittaci in birds in Kunming, Yunnan, China, a total of 136 specimens of psittacine birds involving 8 species were collected from the city＇s zoos （n=60） and pet markets （n=76）. The frequency of C. psittaci infection was 19.9% （27/136） in the psittacine birds. The prevalence of C. psittaci was higher in pet birds （26.3%; 20/76） than in zoo birds （11.7%; 7/60）（P=0.034）. In particular, among Agapornis fischeri, the C. psittaci infection （50%; 10/20） was significantly more frequent in the pet markets than in the zoos （P=-0.006）. In addition, the highest prevalence of 41.2% （7/17） was found in Ara ararauna. To determine the genotype of C. psittaci, 23 OmpA gene fragments （about 1.4 kb） in 27 positive samples were successfully amplified and sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all the 23 strains belonged to genotype A. Our results demonstrate the high prevalence of C. psittaci genotype A infection in psittacine birds in Yunnan Province, suggesting a potential threat to human health in this area. Therefore, it is necessary to take effective measures to prevent the spread of C. psittaci among psittacine birds, as well as among employees and customers.

Recent research has emphasized that attitude is key to language learners’learning *** specifically,language learners’feelings about languages and language learning may affect their study behavior and willingness to engage with a second or foreign *** studies on language attitudes have been conducted with ethnic minority groups in *** such,influencing factors(e.g.,gender,language proficiency)have not gained sufficient *** present study aims to explore language attitudes,especially towards multilingualism,among members of the Li minority group in Hainan,***,we conceptualized and validated a questionnaire on attitudes towards *** factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis verified the survey’s ***,we examined how selected sociodemographic variables(e.g.,gender and language proficiency)influenced students’attitudes towards *** regression was performed to ascertain the contribution of each predictor variable to learners’attitudes towards *** revealed no significant relationship between gender and language attitudes but found a significant impact of students’language proficiency level on their attitudes towards *** for minority students’multilingual learning were discussed based on the findings.

The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats （CRISPR）/Cas9 system, a simple and efficient tool for genome editing, has experienced rapid progress in its technology and applicability in the past two years. Here, we review the recent advances in CRISPR/Cas9 technology and the ways that have been adopted to expand our capacity for precise genome manipulation. First, we introduce the mechanism of CRISPR/Cas9, including its biochemical and structural implications. Second, we highlight the latest improvements in the CRISPR/Cas9 system, especially Cas9 protein modifications for customization. Third, we review its current applications, in which the versatile CRISPR/Cas9 system was employed to edit the genome, epigenome, or RNA of various organisms. Although CRISPR/Cas9 allows convenient genome editing accompanied by many benefits, we should not ignore the significant ethical and biosafety concerns that it raises. Finally, we discuss the prospective applications and challenges of several promising techniques adapted from CRISPR/Cas9.

The synthesis and characterization, by elementary analysis, IR and 1H NMR of ( Z ) 1 [2 (triphenylstannyl)vinyl] 1 cyclopentanol, CH 2(CH) 3C(OH)CHCHSnPh 3 are described together with its halodemetallation by I 2, Br 2 and ICl to yield derivatives of the types CH 2(CH 2) 3C(OH)CHCHSnPh 3- n X n (n =1, 2; X=I, Br, Cl). The solid state structures of the dibromide were determined by X ray diffraction analysis. In the crystal of CH 2(CH 2) 3C(OH)· CHCHSnBr 2 , the Sn atom has a destorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry, in which Sn—O interaction is noted[0 244 6(8) nm]. The biological activity of the title complexes was also investigated.

A new europium（Ⅲ） complex, tris（dibertzoylmethanate）{ 1-[9-hexyl-9-carbazole]-2-（2-pyridyl）-bertzimidazole}europium（Ⅲ） [Eu（DBM）a（CPyBM）] was synthesized and used as an electron-acceptor and electron-transport layer in organic photovoltaic （PV） device. Power conversion efficiency achieved from the device was 1.04% under illumination with 365 nm UV light at 1.6 mW/cm^2. Compared with the previous reported devices based on Eu（Ⅲ） complexes, the PV performances were improved. The working mechanism of the organic PV device was discussed.
