The opportunities and challenges of ionic liquids in perovskite solar cells

Metal halide perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have shown great potential to become the next generation of photovoltaic devices due to their simple fabrication techniques,low cost,and soaring power conversion efficiency(PCE).However,mismatched with the quickly updated PCEs,the improvement of device stability is challenging and still remains a critical hurdle in the path to commercialization.Recently,ionic liquids(ILs)have been found to play multiple roles in obtaining efficient and stable PSCs.These ILs usually consist of large organic cations and organic or inorganic anions,which have weak electrostatic attraction and are generally liquid at around 100℃.ILs are almost non-volatile,non-flammable,with high ionic conductivity and excellent thermal and electrochemical stability.The roles of ILs in PSCs vary with their composition,that is,the types of anions and cations.In this review,we summarize the roles of anions and cations in terms of precursor solutions,additives,perovskite/charge transport layer interface engineering,and charge transport layers.This article aims to set up a structure–property-stability-performance correlations conferred by the IL in PSC and provide assistance for the anion and cation selection for improving the quality of perovskite film,optimizing interface contact,reducing defect states,and improving charge extraction and transport characteristics.Finally,the application of IL in PSCs is discussed and prospected.

A survey on heavy metal concentrations in residential neighborhoods: The influence of secondary water supply systems

Water quality deterioration often occurs in secondary water supply systems(SWSSs), and increased heavy metal concentrations can be a serious problem. In this survey, twelve residential neighborhoods were selected to investigate the influence of SWSSs on the seasonal changes in heavy metal concentrations from input water to tank and tap water. The concentrations of nine evaluated heavy metals in all groups of water samples were found to be far below the specified standard levels in China. The concentrations of Fe, Mn, and Zn increased significantly from the input water samples to the tank and tap water samples in spring and summer( p < 0.05), especially for the water samples that had been stagnant for a long time. Negative correlations were found between most of the heavy metals and residual chlorine(Fe, Cu, Zn, and As, r =-0.186 to-0.519, p < 0.05). In particular, a high negative correlation was observed between Fe and residual chlorine( r =-0.489 to-0.519, p < 0.01) in spring and summer. Fe and Mn displayed positive correlations with turbidity( r = 0.672 and 0.328, respectively;p < 0.05). In addition, Cr and As were found to be positively associated with some nutrients(NO, TN, and SO;r = 0.420-0.786, p < 0.01). The material of the storage tanks had little influence on the difference in heavy metal concentrations. Overall, this survey illustrated that SWSSs may pose a chronic threat to water quality and could provide useful information for practitioners.

Durable dropwise condensation of saturated vapor is of significance for heat transfer and energy saving in extensive industrial applications.While numerous superhydrophobic surfaces can promote steam condensation,maintaining discrete microdroplets on surfaces without the formation of a flooded filmwise condensation at high subcooling remains challenging.Here,we report the development of carbon nanotube array-embedded hierarchical composite surfaces that enable ultra-durable dropwise condensation under a wide range of subcooling(ΔT_(sub)=8 K–38 K),which outperforms existing nanowire surfaces.This performance stems from the combined strategies of the hydrophobic nanostructures that allow efficient surface renewal and the patterned hydrophilic micro frames that protect the nanostructures and also accelerate droplet nucleation.The synergistic effects of the composite design ensure sustained Cassie wetting mode and capillarity-governed droplet mobility(Bond number<0.055)as well as the large specific volume of condensed droplets,which contributes to the enhanced condensation heat transfer.Our design provides a feasible alternative for efficiently transferring heat in a vapor environment with relatively high temperatures through the tunable multiscale morphology.

Agricultural production structure,market conditions and farmers’nutritional intake in rural China

Nutrition poverty alleviation is an effective measure to improve the nutritional status of economically disadvantaged individuals,fundamentally improving their health and reducing poverty.Based on the Entitlement Theory and using the China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS)data,this paper examines the relationship between farmers’nutritional intake,production structure and regional market conditions.Results show that farmers with diversified production have better nutritional intake than those who specialize.Furthermore,the correlation between regional market conditions and nutritional intake varies between economically disadvantaged and non-economically disadvantaged households.Market conditions significantly influence the carbohydrate and fat intake of economically disadvantaged households and are positively associated with the dietary structure and nutritional intake of non-economically disadvantaged ones.Moreover,income is positively correlated with the nutritional intake of non-economically disadvantaged households but not with economically disadvantaged ones.

Atypical organic dyes used as sensitizers for efficient dye-sensitized solar cells

Since their invention, dye-sensitized solar cells （DSSCs） have received enormous research attention from scientists with different background due to the possibility of low-cost production and fabrication on flexible substrates. One of the most important components in DSSCs is the sensitizing dye, including metal-complexes and metal-free organic dyes. The donor-π bridge-acceptor （D-π-A） structure is the mainstream in the design of organic sensitizers because it facilitates efficient chargetransfer toward the Ti02 upon excitation. However, some sensitizers that do not follow this structure, or have some modification upon this structure, also present good efficiency when applied in DSSC devices. This review summarizes these atypical dyes in order to inspire more diverse designs toward highly efficient DSSCs.

A Decoding Method Based on RNN for OvTDM

Overlapped X domain multiplexing(Ov XDM) is a promising encoding technique to obtain high spectral efficiency by utilizing Inter-Symbol Interference(ISI). However, the computational complexity of Maximum Likelihood Sequence Detection(MLSD) increases exponentially with the growth of spectral efficiency in Ov XDM, which is unbearable for practical implementations. This paper proposes an Ov TDM decoding method based on Recurrent Neural Network(RNN) to realize fast decoding of Ov TDM system, which has lower decoding complexity than the traditional fast decoding method. The paper derives the mathematical model of the Ov TDM decoder based on RNN and constructs the decoder model. And we compare the performance of the proposed decoding method with the MLSD algorithm and the Fano algorithm. It’s verified that the proposed decoding method exhibits a higher performance than the traditional fast decoding algorithm, especially for the scenarios of a high overlapped multiplexing coefficient.

Traditional Uses and Pharmacologically Active Constituents of Dendrobium Plants for Dermatological Disorders:A Review

than 80 Dendrobium species have been reported in China.However,there are only six Dendrobium species,namely,D.bigibbum var.superbum(syn.D.phalaenopsis),D.chrysanthum,D.fimbriatum,D.loddigesii,D.nobile,and D.officinale(syn.D.candidum),listed in the New Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China Launched.Artificial planting of Dendrobium species has been a great success in China.To better utilize Dendrobium resources for medicinal and cosmetic purposes,we summarize their traditional uses and pharmacologically active compounds for treating dermatological disorders in this review.“Orchidaceae”,“Dendrobium”,“traditional use”,“ethnobotany”,“dermatological disorder”,and“skin disease”were used as search terms to screen the literature.Cited references were collected between 1970 and 2020 from the Web of Science,China National Knowledge Internet(CNKI),SciFinder,Google Scholar,and Chinese books.From the search,it was found that there are 22 Dendrobium species with traditional uses in dermatological disorders,and 131 compounds from Dendrobium plants have been reported to possess anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial,antioxidant,antiaging,anti-psoriasis,and tyrosinase-inhibitory activities,implying that Dendrobium plants are important resources for the discovery of active compounds and the development of new drugs and cosmetics.D.crepidatum,D.denneanum,D.loddigesii,D.nobile,and D.officinale have been extensively studied.More research on other Dendrobium species is needed.The major active compounds found in Dendrobium species are phenanthrenes,alkaloids,flavonoids,phenylpropanoids,and lignans.Several compounds,such as loddigesiinol A,(S)-5-methoxy-2,4,7,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene,(S)-4-methoxy-2,5,7,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene,2,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-phenanthrene 2-O-β-d-glucopyranoside,(9R)-1,2,5,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene 5-O-β-d-glucopyranoside,(+)-homocrepidine A,and vicenin 2,have significant anti-inflammatory activities and inhibit nitric oxide(NO)production with IC_(50) values le

Reports suggest that approximately 37.7 million people are infected with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)worldwide,[1]and 10%to 28%of people living with HIV(PLWH)are coinfected with hepatitis B virus(HBV).[2]The routes of transmission shared by both HIV and HBV may explain the relatively high proportions of HIV/HBV coinfection,[3]which represent a significant challenge to global public health.In China,hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)prevalence is estimated at 13.7%in PLWH.

The unpleasant sensations itch and pain induce distinct behavioral patterns.Although both acute itch and pain serve protective functions,they are different sensory modalities.Itch stimuli lead to the scratching reflex or the desire to scratch,which may be helpful for removing potential irritants.In contrast,pain stimuli lead to withdrawal behaviors but not scratching[1].
