Analytical Expression for the Atomic Friction of a Single Asperity Based on the Prandtl-Tomlinson Model

The Prandtl-Tomlinson(PT)model has been widely applied to interpret the atomic friction mechanism of a single *** this study,we present an approximate explicit expression for the friction force in the one-dimensional PT model under quasi-static ***‘stick-slip’friction curves are first approximated properly by sawtooth-like lines,where the critical points before and after the‘slip’motion are described analytically in terms of a dimensionless parameterη.Following this,the average friction force is expressed in a closed form that remains continuous and valid forη>***,an analytical expression for the load dependence of atomic friction of a single asperity is derived by connecting the parameterηwith the normal *** the parameters reported in experiments,our prediction shows good agreement with relevant experimental results.

Holographic Schwinger effect in a soft wall AdS/QCD model

We perform a potential analysis for the holographic Schwinger effect in a deformed AdS5 model with conformal invariance broken by a background *** evaluated the static potential by analyzing the classical action of a string attached to a rectangular Wilson loop on a probe D3 brane located at an intermediate position in the bulk AdS *** observed that the inclusion of the chemical potential tends to enhance the production rate,which is opposite to the effect of the confining *** addition,we calculated the critical electric field based on the Dirac-Born-Infeld(DBI)action.

Synergistic Effects of Aluminum Hypophosphite on Intumescent Flame Retardant Polypropylene System

The effects of aluminum hypophosphite（AHP） as a synergistic agent on the flame retardancy and thermal degradation behavior of intumescent flame retardant polypropylene composites（PP/IFR） containing ammonium polyphosphate（APP） and triazine charring-foaming agent（CFA） were investigated by limiting oxygen index（LOI）, UL-94 measurement, thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）, cone calorimeter test（CONE）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）. It was found that the combination of IFR with AHP exhibited an evident synergistic effect and enhanced the flame retardant efficiency for PP matrix. The specimens with the thickness of 0.8 mm can pass UL-94 V-0 rating and the LOI value reaches 33.5% based on the total loading of flame retardant of 24 wt%, and the optimum mass fraction of AHP/IFR is 1：6. The TGA data revealed that AHP could change the degradation behavior of IFR and PP/IFR system, enhance the thermal stability of the IFR and PP/IFR systems at high temperatures and promote the char residue formation. The CONE results revealed that IFR/AHP blends can efficiently reduce the combustion parameters of PP, such as heat release rate（HRR）, total heat release（THR）, smoke production rate（SPR） and so on. The morphological structures of char residue demonstrated that AHP is of benefit to the formation of a more compact and homogeneous char layer on the materials surface during burning. The analysis of XPS indicates that AHP may promote the formation of sufficient char on the materials surface and improve the flame retardant properties.

Origin and Tectonic Implications of Post-Orogenic Lamprophyres in the Sulu Belt of China

Lamprophyre dykes that crosscut different types of ultrahigh pressure(UHP)metamorphic rocks are widely distributed in the Triassic Sulu UHP orogenic *** abundant studies have been performed on these dykes,their origin and petrogenesis remain topics of *** study presents the results of a detailed field-based study of petrology,whole-rock geochemistry and zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopes on lamprophyre dykes exposed in the central Sulu UHP zone,aiming at shedding lights on their petrogenesis and providing clues on the geological evolution of eastern continental China during the *** lamprophyres are typically porphyritic,with phenocrysts dominantly composed of amphibole and clinopyroxene set in a lamprophyric *** dykes have moderate Si O2(47.70 wt.%–60.44 wt.%),variably high Mg O(2.58 wt.%–8.28 wt.%)and Fe2 O3 T(4.88 wt.%–9.26 wt.%)contents with high Mg#of 49–***,they have enriched light rare earth element(REE)and flat heavy REE patterns((La/Gd)N=5.14–10.56;(Dy/Yb)N=1.43–1.54)with negligible Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu*=0.83–1.10),and they show enrichment in large ion lithophile elements(e.g.,Ba and K)but depletion in high-field strength elements(e.g.,Nb,Ti and P).In-situ zircon U-Pb geochronology reveals that the lamprophyres have concordant ages of 120–115 Ma,demonstrating that the dykes emplaced in the Early *** zircons have?Hf(t)values ranging from-26.0 *** zircons that occur in the dykes are dated to be Neoproterozoic,in line with the protolith ages of their host(i.e.,the UHP rocks).An integration of these data allows us to propose that the lamprophyres were generated during the Cretaceous,by melting of subcontinental lithospheric mantle-derived metasomatite with enriched chemical compositions underneath the North China *** metasomatite was formed mainly by peridotite-fluid/melt reactions,with the fluids/melts mainly liberated from subducted Yangtze continental crust during the Triassic.R

A hybrid physics-data-driven surface roughness prediction model for ultra-precision machining

The surface finish quality is critical to the service performance of a machined part,and single-point diamond ultra-precision machining can achieve excellent surface quality for many engineering *** study studied the problem of predicting the surface roughness for titanium alloy workpieces in ultra-precision *** data and surface roughness measurement results were obtained during end-face machining experiments.A deep learning neural network model was built based on the ResNet-50 architecture to predict surface *** propose increasing prediction accuracy by using the energy ratio difference(ERD)as a stability feature that can be extracted using fast iterative variational mode decomposition(FI-VMD).The roughness value obtained with an analytic model was also used as an input feature of the prediction *** prediction accuracy of the proposed approach was depicted to be improved by 8.7%with the two newly introduced roughness *** influence of the tool parameters on the prediction accuracy was investigated,and the proposed hybrid-driven model exhibited higher robustness to errors of the tool parameters than the analytic roughness model.

Effects of surface energy and substrate on modulus determination of biological films by conical indentation

Micro-/nano-indentation has become prevalent in evaluating the mechanical characteristics of biological samples,such as cells and ***,the existing contact models describing conical indentation ignore the joint effects of surface energy and substrate,and consequently cannot accurately extract the Young's modulus of biological samples deposited on *** finite element methods,we examine the conical indentation of biological films on substrates while taking surface energy into *** on the dimensional analysis,the explicit relationship between load and indentation depth is achieved for films with their moduli varying from 0.001 to 100 times that of the *** the classical Sneddon's model was employed to analyze the load-depth data,the measured modulus could reach 18 times the real modulus for films on harder substrates,but only 4%of the real modulus for films on softer ***,in micro-/nano-indentations,neglecting the contribution of surface energy would result in an overestimation of the Young's modulus of films depending on the contact *** analytical expression provided here can be utilized to precisely deduce the mechanical characteristics of biological films deposited on substrate from the load and indentation depth data of a conical indentation.

THE EFFECTS OF PHYSIOLOGICAL FLOW WAVEFORM ON WALL SHEAR STRESS IN CAROTID BIFURCATION MODEL

Numerical models of carotid bifurcation were constructed using a combination of tuning-fork bifurcation and straight or curved common carotid. The different inlet velocity profiles of the common carotid were generated for Bloch flow waveform and Holdsworth flow waveform, respectively. The effects of the different flow waveform for the common carotid on Wall Shear Stress （WSS） and Oscillatory Shear Index （OSI） of carotid bifurcation were studied by CFD method. The results show that the physiological flow waveform of curved common carotid has a significant effect on OSI. In particular, the OSI on the outer walls of carotid sinus and external carotid becomes higher in the inward-curved common carotid for Holdsworth flow waveform. But, in both cases of low WSS and high OSI, the effects of flow waveforms are smaller than those of the curved common carotid. The study reveals that the exact knowledge of the physiological flow waveform, vascular geometry and inlet velocity profile is important for hemodynamic numerical simulation of artery bifurcation.

Effect of Water Absorption on the Mechanical Property and Failure Mechanism of Hollow Glass Microspheres Composite Epoxy Resin Solid Buoyancy Materials

To study the water absorption of hollow glass microspheres(HGMs)composite epoxy resin solid buoyancy materials in the marine environment and its effect on the mechanical properties,the water absorption was measured by immersing the material in distilled water for 36 days at ambient temperature and fitted to Fick’s second *** strength of materials before and after water absorption were tested by uniaxial experiments,and the effects of the filling ratio and water absorption on the mechanical properties of the materials were analyzed and ***,the failure modes and mechanism of the hollow glass microspheres composite material were explicated from the microscopic level by scanning electron microscope(SEM).This research will help solve the problems of solid buoyancy materials in ocean engineering applications.

Cross-layer resource allocation in wireless multi-hop networks with outdated channel state information

The cross-layer resource allocation problem in wireless multi-hop networks(WMHNs)has been extensively studied in the past few *** of these studies assume that every node has the perfect channel state information(CSI)of other *** practical settings,however,the networks are generally dynamic and CSI usually becomes outdated when it is used,due to the time-variant channel and feedback *** deal with this issue,we study the cross-layer resource allocation problem in dynamic WMHNs with outdated CSI under channel conditions where there is correlation between the outdated CSI and current *** major contributions are made in this work:(1)a closed-form expression of conditional average capacity is derived under the signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio(SINR)model;(2)a joint optimization problem of congestion control,power control,and channel allocation in the context of outdated CSI is formulated and solved in both centralized and distributed *** results show that the network utility can be improved significantly using our proposed algorithm.
