Virtual screening of flavonoids from Jatropha gossypiifolia *** potential drugs for diabetic complications

Background:The aim of this prospective randomized study was to evaluate the impact of visual guidelines(picture book)and parents tutoring on pediatric urological surgery on parent's stress and anxiety,the number of postoperative contacts,and complications.Materials and methods:Following institutional ethical committee approval,a special picture book reflecting different stages of the con-valescent period following multiple types of pediatric urological surgery was *** were randomly divided into 2 groups in which 33 parents in Group 1 received the picture book in addition to routine instructions prior to the surgery and 31 in Group 2 received only routine postoperative *** parents were asked to answer a questionnaire(Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Infor-mation Scale)regarding the level of anxiety before surgery and immediately after surgery in the recovery *** number of postop-erative parent's calls,nonplaned emergency room visits,and complications were recorded.Results:No statistically significant difference in perioperative parental anxiety was found(p=0.88).The visual tutoring group had a sig-nificantly lower rate of emergency room admissions(6.6％vs.18.6％,p=0.0433),however parents from this group made a higher num-ber of postoperative calls(9.9％vs.3.1％,p=0.38).Two(6.6％)from the tutoring group expressed their desire to omit visual counseling in future surgical preparation and 4(13.2％)did not have an *** satisfaction with regards to the preoperative counseling and information and the number of postoperative complications was similar in both groups.Conclusions:Visual tutoring does not add any value to parental anxiety but seems helpful in reducing postoperative emergency room *** parents preferred to exclude visual information from future preoperative counseling.

Background:Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that is a risk factor for epidemic *** hyperglycemic conditions,the enzyme aldose reductase catalyzes the formation of sorbitol in the metabolism of glucose via polyols,leading to the development of diabetic ***,inhibitors of this enzyme are therapeutic targets for the prophylaxis and treatment of these ***:In this study,a generalized linear regression model was developed to analyze flavonoids-obtained from a database-that have been tested as inhibitors of aldose *** this sense,the molecular descriptors implemented in DRAGON and MATLAB software were used to determine the correlation between the chemical structure of the inhibitors and their pharmacological *** model was validated according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Standards and subsequently used for the virtual screening of the flavonoids identified in Jatropha gossypiifolia ***:The proposed model showed a good fit for its statistical parameters(R2=0.95).In addition,it showed good predictive power(R2 ext=0.94)and robustness(Q2 LOO=0.92).The experimental chemical space wherein the predictions were reliable(domain of application)was also ***,the model was used to identify 10 flavonoids from Jatropha gossypiifolia *** candidates for natural *** with a low probability of oral absorption were identified,among which the elagic acid biflavonoid showed the greatest promise(pIC50 predicted=9.75).Conclusion:The Jatropha gossypiifolia *** harbors flavonoids with high potential as inhibitors of the aldose reductase enzyme,in which the biflavonoid ellagic acid was shown to be the most promising inhibitor of the aldose reductase enzyme,suggesting its possible use in the treatment of the late complications of diabetes mellitus.

The present investigation shows experimental results obtained with TiO2 thin films synthesized by the sol-gel method assisted with hydrothermal treatment over polypropylene, using the dip coating technique. Obtained coatings were characterized through SEM, XRD, UV-Vis and the photo- catalytic activity was monitored by GC. According to results, the hydrothermal treatment facilitates the crystallization of the TiO2 anatase phase, which is present in all synthesized films. Crystal size formed from precursor solutions (estimated by the Scherrer’s equation) depends on the time and temperature of the hydrothermal treatment, wherein solution exposed to a higher temperature treatment of 150。C for 1.5 h (H150/1.5) exhibited a larger crystal size compared to those synthesized at 80。C for 1.5 h and 3 h (H80/1.5 and H80/3). Sample H150/1.5 over polypropylene resulted in a uniform and crack free coating. This behavior was attributed to the precursor solution being denser than those synthesized at 80。C. Additionally, the photocatalytic activity of the coatings was evaluated through the degradation of propane. Coating H150/1.5 reached 100% conversion after 3 h of UV light irradiation.

Effect of BA Treatments on Morphology and Physiology of Proliferated Shoots of <i>Bambusa vulgaris</i>Schrad. Ex Wendl in Temporary Immersion

Axillary buds, collected from greenhouse-grown plants of Bambusa vulgaris Schrad. ex Wendl (B. vulgaris), were incubated on a static liquid culture medium, Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 2% (w/v) sucrose, and supplemented with 12.0 μM 6-benzyladenine (BA). They were transferred to a temporary immersion system (TIS) using liquid MS medium supplemented with 0 (CK-free medium), 6.0, 12.0, 18.0 μM BA. The morphological and anatomical indicators were measured. The BA influenced in vitro multiplication of B. vulgaris. The best results were achieved in the SIT with a concentration of 6.0 μM of BA, which increased the number of shoots (5.1 shoots/explant) in the absence of hyperhydric shoots. Results demonstrated that the water content in the sprouts increased with 12.0 and 18.0 μM BA every four hours. Furthermore, these high levels of BA contributed to a lower accumulation of phenolic compounds and lignin content. The total chlorophyll significantly increased when using 6.0 uM BA, but decreased both parameters with other treatments. These results favor to increase the number of shoots/explants during in vitro multiplication. They will also optimize the in vitro culture conditions, leading to an improvement of in vitro propagation methods for this species.
