Breast cancer can metastasize to various organs,including the *** immune microenvironment of the organs to be metastasized plays a crucial role in the metastasis of breast *** with pathogens such as viruses and bacteria can alter the immune status of the ***,the effect of chronic inflammation caused by bacteria on the formation of a premetastatic niche within the lung is unclear,and the contribution of specific immune mediators to tumor metastasis also remains largely ***,we used a mouse model revealing that chronic pulmonary bacterial infection augmented breast cancer lung metastasis by recruiting a distinct subtype of tumor-infiltrating MHCII^(hi) neutrophils into the lung,which exhibit cancer-promoting ***,MHCII^(hi) neutrophils enhanced the lung metastasis of breast cancer in a cell-intrinsic ***,we identified CCL2 from lung tissues as an important environmental signal to recruit and maintain MHCII^(hi) *** findings clearly link bacterial-immune crosstalk to breast cancer lung metastasis and define MHCII^(hi) neutrophils as the principal mediator between chronic infection and tumor metastasis.

Localization deception performance of FDA signals under passive bi-satellite reconnaissance

Time difference of arrival(TDOA) and frequency difference of arrival(FDOA) are widely adopted for passive bi-satellite positioning system(BPS) localization. Although TDOA/FDOA localization countermeasures have received much attention, different from existing passive localization countermeasure techniques which mainly concentrate on designing spoofing jammers, this paper proposes that the application of frequency diverse array(FDA) antenna has more advantages in achieving localization deception compared with phased array(PA) antenna. FDA uses a small frequency offset across its array elements, which makes periodical time-variance beampattern even at a fixed angle and distance. Followed by this new method,closed-form expressions for the geometric dilution of precision(GDOP) and Cramer-Rao bounds(CRB) are derived to quantitatively evaluate the localization deception performance of the FDA transmitted *** numerical analysis and simulation results show that FDA indeed provides robust localization deception performance compared with conventional phased-array under passive bi-satellite reconnaissance.

Silicon photonics is a promising technology to address the demand for dense and integrated nextgeneration optical interconnections due to its complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS) ***, one of the key building blocks, the silicon modulator, suffers from several drawbacks, including a limited bandwidth, a relatively large footprint, and high power consumption. The graphene-based silicon modulator, which benefits from the excellent optical properties of the two-dimensional graphene material with its unique band structure,has significantly advanced the above critical figures of merit. In this work, we review the state-of-the-art graphenebased silicon modulators operating in various mechanisms, i.e., thermal-optical, electro-optical, and plasmonic. It is shown that graphene-based silicon modulators possess the potential to have satisfactory characteristics in intra-and inter-chip connections.

Attaining the liquid helium temperature with a compact pulse tube cryocooler for space applications

Recent breakthroughs in space science have motivated space exploration programs in many countries including China. Cryocoolers, which provide the mandatory low-temperature environment for many sensitive yet delicate space detectors, are crucial for the proper functioning of various systems. One benchmark for the cryocooler performance is attaining the liquid helium temperature. However, even with complex configurations and multiple driving sources, only a few cryocoolers to date can achieve this goal. Here we report a high-frequency pulse tube cryocooler(HPTC) driven by a single non-oil-lubrication compressor which is capable of reaching the liquid helium temperature while offering other advantages such as high compactness, excellent reliability and high efficiency. The HPTC obtains a no-load temperature of 4.4 K, which is the first realization of cooling below the4 He critical point with a gas-coupled two-stage arrangement. The prototype can provide a cooling power of 87 mW at 8 K, and 5.2 mW at 5 K with a 425 W input electric power, showing leading-level efficiency. Moreover, we demonstrate the ability of the cryocooler to simultaneously provide cooling power at different temperature levels to meet different requirements. Therefore, the prototype developed here could be a promising cryocooler for space applications and beyond.

Down regulation of UCP2 expression in retinal pigment epithelium cells under oxidative stress: an in vitro study

AIM: To evaluate the expression of uncoupling protein 2(UCP2) in a retinal pigment epithelium cell line(ARPE-19), under oxidative stress(OS).METHODS: ARPE-19 cells were divided into groups treated with various concentrations of hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2;0, 150, 300, 500, 700, and 900 μmol/L) for 24 h, to induce oxidative damage and cell viability was assessed by MTT assay. UCP2 mRNA expression in cells treated with H2 O2 was investigated by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). UCP2 protein expression was assessed by Western blotting and ROS levels analyzed by flow cytometry(FCM). Further, UCP2-siRNA treated cultures were exposed to H2 O2(0, 75, 150, and 300 μmol/L) for 2 h and cell viability determined by MTT ***: Cells treated with higher concentrations of H2 O2 appeared shrunken;their adhesion to adjacent cells was disrupted, and the number of dead cells increased. The results of cell viability assays demonstrated that the numbers of cells were decreased in a dose-dependent manner following treatment with H2 O2. Compared with untreated controls, cell viability was significantly reduced after treatment with >300 μmol/L H2 O2(P<0.05). Cell metabolic activity was decreased with increased concentrations of H2 O2 as detected by MTT assay. Levels of OS were further decreased in cells treated with UCP2-siRNA compared with those treated with H2 O2 alone(P<0.05). The results of RT-PCR and Western blotting demonstrated that UCP2 expression was reduced in H2 O2-treated groups compared with controls(P<0.05). FCM analysis showed that cell reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels were increased in H2 O2-treated groups and further upregulated by UCP2-si RNA treatment(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Expression levels of UCP2 are decreased in ARPE-19 cells treated with H2 O2. ROS levels are further increased in cells treated with UCP2-siRNA relative to those treated with H2 O2 alone. UCP2 may have a protective role in ARPE-19 cells during oxidative injury.

Industrial Pollution Governance in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Based on Industrial Relocation

Industrial relocation and ecological subsidy are viewed as effective ways to overcome transboundary industrial pollution. In this paper, we study the transboundary industrial pollution control problem in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in the context of industrial relocation. Firstly, we construct an economic model of pollution control with relevant variables such as environmental tax and environmental damage coefficient. Secondly, we solve the economic contributions by using the proportional split-off solution. Finally, we compare the optimal relocation quantity and welfare functions in both cooperative and non-cooperative cases. Our research finds that: 1) The optimal strategy is closely related to utility coefficient, environmental loss coefficient and incentive intensity coefficient.2) The welfare function and the optimal relocation quantity in the cooperative case are significantly greater than those in the non-cooperative case. Based on the analysis, some suggestions are provided for transboundary industrial pollution management.

Melatonin Ameliorates Liver Fibrosis Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride in Rats via Inhibiting TGF-β1/Smad Signaling Pathway

Melatonin has been reported to inhibit hepatic fibrosis and the mechanism may be correlated to its anti-oxidant effect. Nevertheless, the mechanism is not completely identified. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of melatonin on TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway in liver fibrosis in rats. The liver fibrosis model was made by the subcutaneous injection of CC14. The liver pathology changes were detected using hematoxylin and eosin （H＆E） staining and Van Gieson （VG） staining. Serum alanine aminotransferase （ALT） and aspartate aminotransferase （AST） activities were measured with an autoanalyzer. Glutathione peroxidase （GPx） activities and levels of malondialdehyde （MDA） and hydroxyproline （Hyp） in liver were evaluated by spectrophotometry. Expression levels of TGF-β1, Smad2/3, phosphorylated Smad2/3 （p-Smad2/3） and Smad7 in liver were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis. Results showed that melatonin suppressed CC14-induced liver fibrosis, along with an improvement in histological changes, significant decreases in pathologic grading sores and obvious decreases in Hyp levels in liver. Melatonin improved liver function indicated by decreased serum ALT and AST activities. In addition, melatonin exerted its anti-oxidant effects, as supported by decreased MDA levels and increased GPx activities in liver. Furthermore, melatonin inhibited TGF-β1/Smad pathway, as evidenced by decreased TGF-β1, Smad2/3 and p-Smad2/3 expression and increased Smad7 expression in liver. In conclusion, melatonin may suppress CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats via inhibiting TGF-β1/Smad pathway. It is possible for melatonin to be a potential reagent to treat and cure liver fibrosis.

Predicting formation lithology from log data by using a neural network

In order to increase drilling speed in deep complicated formations in Kela-2 gas field, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang, west China, it is important to predict the formation lithology for drilling bit optimization. Based on the conventional back propagation （BP） model, an improved BP model was proposed, with main modifications of back propagation of error, self-adapting algorithm, and activation function, also a prediction program was developed. The improved BP model was successfully applied to predicting the lithology of formations to be drilled in the Kela-2 gas field.

Serum erythropoietin and transferrin in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome

Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome(INS)is char-acterized by marked urinary excretion of albumin and other intermediate-sized plasma proteins,such as trans-ferrin and vitamin D-binding *** cases even develop *** aim of this study was to investigate the changes in serum iron,transferrin,and erythropoietin,and the relationships between serum and urine transferrin and ***-seven children with INS and 35 age-and sex-matched healthy children were *** indexes related to iron metabolism,including serum iron,ferritin,transferrin,total iron-binding capa-city(TIBC),transferrin saturation,and hematological parameters[hemoglobin(Hb),mean corpuscular volume(MCV),mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH)],and urin-ary transferrin and erythropoietin were measured in 37 children with INS before treatment and at the remission ***-five age-and sex-matched healthy children served as *** iron levels(18.8±3.8)mmol/L in INS patients before treatment were significantly lower than those of the healthy controls(22.2±3.8)mmol/L and those measured at the remission stage(21.0±3.5)mmol/L(all P<0.01).Serum transferrin levels in INS patients before therapy(1.9±0.3)g/L also decreased compared with the healthy controls(3.1±0.5)g/L and the measures at the remission stage(2.9±0.6)g/L(all P<0.01).In contrast,serum TIBC and transferrin saturation were sig-nificantly higher in INS patients before treatment than in the healthy controls[TIBC(56.4±9.2)mmol/L vs(50.7±6.8)mmol/L,P<0.01;transferrin saturation(55.7±9.2)%vs(46.4±8.2)%,P<0.01]and they were also higher than the measures at remission stage[(51.9±7.7)mmol/L and(47.4±13.3)mmol/L](all P<0.01).Serum transferrin was positively correlated with serum albumin(r= 50.609,P<0.01)and negatively correlated with urinary transferrin(r= 520.550,P<0.01)in INS patients before *** conclude that serum iron,transferrin and erythropoietin levels are markedly decreased in INS patients,which may be partially re
