Organic carbon source and burial during the past one hundred years in Jiaozhou Bay,North China

Organic carbon （OC）, total nitrogen （TN）, and ^210Pb in core sediment were measured to quantify the burial of organic carbon and the relative importance of allochthonous and autochthonous contributions during the past one hundred years in Jiaozhou Bay, North China. The core sediment was dated using ^210Pb chronology, which is the most promising method for estimation of sedimentation rate on a time scale of 100-150 years. The variation of the burial flux of organic carbon in the past one hundred years can be divided into the following three stages：（1） relatively steady before 1980s; （2） increasing rapidly from the 1980s to a peak in the 1990s, and （3） decreasing from the 1990s to the present. The change is consistent with the amount of solid waste and sewage emptied into the bay. The OC：TN ratio was used to evaluate the source of organic carbon in the Jiaozhou Bay sediment. In the inner bay and bay mouth, the organic carbon was the main contributor from terrestrial sources, whereas only about half of organic carbon was contributed from terrestrial source in the outer bay. In the inner bay, the terrestrial source of organic carbon showed a steady change with an increase in the range of 69%-77% before 1990 to 93% in 2000, and then decreased from 2000 because of the decrease in the terrestrial input. In the bay mouth, the percentage of organic carbon from land reached the highest value with 94% in 1994. In the outer bay, the sediment source maintained steady for the past one hundred years.

In this paper, the dynamic characteristics are examined for a cylindrical membrane composed of a transversely isotropic incompressible hyperelastic material under an applied uniform radial constant pressure at its inner surface. A second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation that approximately describes the radial oscillation of the inner surface of the membrane with respect to time is obtained. Some interesting conclusions are proposed for different materials, such as the neo-Hookean material, the Mooney-Rivlin material and the Rivlin-Saunders material. Firstly, the bifurcation conditions depending on the material parameters and the pressure loads are determined. Secondly, the conditions of periodic motion are presented in detail for membranes composed of different materials. Meanwhile, numerical simulations are also provided.

In this paper,the problem of axially symmetric deformation is examined for a composite cylindrical tube under equal axial loads acting on its two ends,where the tube is composed of two different incompressible neo-Hookean ***,the implicit analytical solutions describing the deformation of the tube are *** simulations are given to further illustrate the qualitative properties of the solutions and some meaningful conclusions are *** the tension case,with the increasing axial loads or with the decreasing ratio of shear moduli of the outer and the inner materials,it is proved that the tube will shrink more along the radial direction and will extend more along the axial *** either tension or compression,the deformation along the axial direction is obvious near the two ends of the tube,while in the rest,the change is relatively ***,for a large domain of the middle part,the axial elongation is almost constant;however,the variation is very fast near the two *** addition,the absolute value of the axial displacement increases gradually from the central cross-section of the tube and achieves the maximum at the two endpoints.

The problem of finite deformation of an incompressible rectangular rubber ring with an internal rigid body, where the ring is subjected to equal axial loads at its two ends, is examined. A reasonable mathematical model is formulated by using the nonlinear field theory and the implicit analytical solutions are derived. Then numerical simulations are implemented to further illustrate the results and obtain some meaningful conclusions. The deformation of the lateral surface of the ring becomes larger with the increasing axial loads, the decreasing ratio of the inner and outer radii and the increasing height of the ring.

The growth of a prolate or oblate elliptic micro-void in a fiber reinforced anisotropic incompressible hyper-elastic rectangular thin plate subjected to uniaxial extensions is studied within the framework of finite elasticity. Coupling effects of void shape and void size on the growth of the void are paid special attention to. The deformation function of the plate with an isolated elliptic void is given, which is expressed by two parameters to solve the differential equation. The solution is approximately obtained from the minimum potential energy principle. Deformation curves for the void with a wide range of void aspect ratios and the stress distributions on the surface of the void have been obtained by numerical computation. The growth behavior of the void and the characteristics of stress distributions on the surface of the void are captured. The combined effects of void size and void shape on the growth of the void in the thin plate are discussed. The maximum stresses for the void with different sizes and different void aspect ratios are compared.

Smooth solutions such as the periodic traveling wave solutions and the solitary wave solutions with the peak form are *** particular,some interesting singular traveling wave solutions including the solitary cusp wave solutions and the periodic cusp wave solutions with the peak form are *** examples for all these waves are given.

A finite deformation problem is examined for a cylinder composed of a class of incompressible thermo-hyperelastic Mooney-Rivlin materials under an equal axial load at its two fixed ends and a temperature field at its lateral boundary. Firstly, a thermomechanical coupling term is taken into account in the strain energy density function, and a governing equation of the problem is obtained. Secondly, an implicit analytical solution is derived by using the incompressibility and the boundary conditions. Significantly, numerical examples show that the middle portion of the cylinder undergoes almost a uniform radial deformation. However, the deformation near the two ends varies remarkably along the axial direction for relatively large axial loads. In addition, the rising temperature can increase the deformation of structures, and its influence is linear approximately. Specially,in the case of tensile load, the jump increase of the axial deformation may occur.

Nonlinear Vibration Analyses of Cylindrical Shells Composed of Hyperelastic Materials

The nonlinear vibration problem is studied for a thin-walled rubber cylindrical shell composed of the classical incompressible Mooney-Rivlin material and subjected to a radial harmonic excitation. With the KirchhofF-Love hypothesis, DonnelFs nonlinear shallow shell theory, hyperelastic constitutive relation, Lagrange equations and small strain hypothesis, a system of nonlinear differential equations describing the large-deflection vibration of the shell is derived. First, the natural frequencies of radial, circumferential and axial vibrations axe studied. Then, based on the bifurcation diagrams and the Poincare sections, the nonlinear behaviors describing the radial vibration of the shell are illustrated. Examining the influences of structural and material parameters on radial vibration of the shell shows that the vibration modes are highly sensitive to the thickness-radius ratio when the ratio is less than a certain critical value. Moreover, in terms of the results of multimodal expansion, it is found that the response of the shell to radial motion is more regular than that without considering the coupling between modes, while there are more phenomena for the uncoupled case.
