Experimental Study of Local Scour Around Four Piles Under Different Attack Angles and Gap Ratios

In an effort to investigate and quantify the patterns of local scour,researchers embarked on an in-depth study using a systematic experimental *** research focused on the effects of local scour around a set of four piles,each subjected to different hydromechanical *** particular,this study aimed to determine how different attack angles—the angles at which the water flow impinges on the piles,and gap ratios—the ratios of the spacing between the piles to their diameters,influence the extent and nature of scour.A comprehensive series of 35 carefully designed experiments were orchestrated,each designed to dissect the nuances in how the gap ratio and attack angle might contribute to changes in the local scour observed at the base of pile *** these experimental trials,a wealth of local scour data were collected to support the *** data included precise topographic profiles of the sediment bed around the pile groups,as well as detailed scour time histories showing the evolution of scour at strategic feature points throughout the test *** analysis of the experimental data provided interesting *** study revealed that the interplay between the gap ratio and the attack angle had a pronounced influence on the scouring dynamics of the pile *** of the key observations was that the initial phases of scour,particularly within the first hour of water flow exposure,were characterized by a sharp increase in the scour depth occurring immediately in front of the *** this initial rapid development,the scour depth transitioned to a more gradual change *** contrast,the scour topography around the piles continuously *** suggests that sediment displacement and the associated sculpting of the seabed around pile foundations are sustained and progressive processes,altering the underwater landscape over *** results of this empirical investigation have significant implications for the design and constructio

Evolution of copper species during heat treatment and its effect on CO oxidation reaction on CuCeZrO_(y) catalyst synthesized by a facile solvent-free route

Several ternary oxides CuCeZrO_(y)(CCZ)were synthesized by a facile grinding method followed by calcination at high temperatures,and used as catalysts for CO oxidation at low *** influences of calcination temperature(400-600℃)on the physicochemical properties of the assynthesized ternary oxides were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimetry(TGA/DSC),X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Raman,inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES),N_(2) adsorption,H_(2)-temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)*** results show that the increase in calcination temperature from 400 to 500℃is conducive to the high dispersion of CuOx on catalyst surface and the incorporation of Cu species into the support to form the Cu-Ce-Zr-O solid *** raising of calcination temperature from 500 to 600℃,however,leads to the segregation of Cu species from the solid solution to aggregate on support surface and growth of highly dispersed CuOx *** highest catalytic activity is acquired over the CCZ calcined at 500℃,which can be ascribed to the largest contents of Cu+species and oxygen vacancies owing to the formation of the maximum amount of Cu-Ce-Zr-O solid solution.

Quantum Spin Exchange Interactions to Accelerate the Redox Kinetics in Li–S Batteries

Spin-engineering with electrocatalysts have been exploited to suppress the“shuttle effect”in Li–S *** selec-tion,spin-dependent electron mobility and spin potentials in activation barriers can be optimized as quantum spin exchange interactions lead-ing to a significant reduction of the electronic repulsions in the orbitals of ***,we anchor the MgPc molecules on fluorinated carbon nanotubes(MgPc@FCNT),which exhibits the single active Mg sites with axial *** to the density functional theory calculations,the electronic spin polarization in MgPc@FCNT not only increases the adsorption energy toward LiPSs intermediates but also facilitates the tunneling process of electron in Li–S *** a result,the MgPc@FCNT provides an initial capacity of 6.1 mAh cm^(-2) even when the high sulfur loading is 4.5 mg cm^(-2),and still maintains 5.1 mAh cm^(-2) after 100 *** work provides a new perspective to extend the main group single-atom catalysts enabling high-performance Li–S batteries.

Facile construction of Mxene-supported niobium hydride nanoparticles toward reversible hydrogen storage in magnesium borohydride

The facile construction of nanoscale NbH_(x)supported by Ti_(3)C_(2)(NbH_(x)@Ti_(3)C_(2))was achieved using facile ball milling strategy to improve the hydrogen desorption kinetics and reversibility of magnesium borohydride(Mg(BH_(4))_(2)).The doping of 30 wt%NbH_(x)@Ti_(3)C_(2)catalyst reduced the onset dehydrogenation temperature of Mg(BH_(4))_(2)to 71.2℃.Additionally,the Mg(BH_(4))_(2)+30NbH_(x)@Ti_(3)C_(2)composite achieved remarkable hydrogen release of over 9.2 wt%at a temperature as low as 230℃,indicating unexpected dehydrogenation ***,the reversibility of NbH_(x)@Ti_(3)C_(2)doped Mg(BH_(4))_(2)was retained to more than 4.2 wt%after four cycles,which was increased by 68%compared to that of undoped Mg(BH_(4))_(2).The strong catalysis of NbH_(x)@Ti_(3)C_(2)catalyst could be attributed to the synergistic effect of NbH_(x)and Ti_(3)C_(2)in hydrogen spillover and ***_(x)acted as a"hydrogen pump"for effective hydrogen spillover,while Ti_(3)C_(2)created numerous diffusion channels for hydrogen dissolution and provided the active catalytic site to facilitate the re/dehydrogenation of Mg(BH_(4))_(2).

Tailoring the austenite characteristics via dual nanoparticles to synergistically optimize the strength-ductility in cold rolled medium Mn steel

In this work,we proposed a novel Cu/θdual nanoparticles strategy to tailor the austenite characteris-tics of a medium Mn steel via a tempering-annealing process to optimize the mechanical *** explored the effects of Cu-rich particles and cementite precipitated in the tempering process on the austenite reversion during the subsequent annealing *** experiments and numerical simula-tions verified that the austenite inherited from cementite had a finer size and a higher Mn enrichment compared with the austenite originating from the tempered martensite *** addition,quantitative evaluations revealed that the pinning effect exerted by the Cu-rich particles could significantly hinder theα/γinterface migration and the recrystallized grain growth,thereby further refining the final *** contributions from the effects of dual nanoprecipitates on the austenite reversion,the heterogeneous austenite grains inherited from varying nucleation sites ensured the sustained and gradual deformation-induced martensite and twinning ***,the Cu-added steels subjected to a tempering-annealing process achieved synergetic enhancement of the tensile strength from 1055 MPa to 1250 MPa and elongation from 33%to 45%.This strategy may provide new guidance for the development and alloy design of high-performance medium Mn steels.

Optimization of Gas Production from Hydrate-Bearing Sediments with Fluctuation Characteristics

As an important source of low-carbon,clean fossil energy,natural gas hydrate plays an important role in improving the global energy consumption *** the hydrate industry in the South China Sea is important to achieving‘carbon peak and carbon neutrality’goals as soon as ***-water areas subjected to the action of long-term stress and tectonic movement have developed complex and volatile terrains,and as such,the morphologies of hydrate-bearing sediments(HBSs)fluctuate *** key to numerically simulating HBS morphologies is the establishment of the conceptual model,which represents the objective and real description of the actual geological ***,current numerical simulation models have characterized HBSs into horizontal strata without considering the fluctuation *** representing the HBS as a horizontal element reduces simulation ***,the commonly used horizontal HBS model and a model considering the HBS’s fluctuation characteristics with the data of the SH2 site in the Shenhu Sea area were first constructed in this ***,their production behaviors were compared,and the huge impact of the fluctuation characteristics on HBS production was *** this basis,the key parameters affecting the depressurization production of the fluctuating HBSs were studied and *** research results show that the fluctuation characteristics have an obvious influence on the hydrate production of HBSs by affecting their temperatures and pressure distributions,as well as the transmission of the pressure drop and methane gas ***,the results show that the gas productivity of fluctuating HBSs was about 5%less than that of horizontal *** optimizing the depressurization amplitude,well length,and layout location of vertical wells,the productivity of fluctuating HBSs increased by about 56.6%.

Investigation on the vortical structures by the Liutex method in turbulent channels at Re_(τ)=180 with scalloped and triangular riblet control

Riblets are a series of small protrusions formed along the flow direction,which have been extensively studied as a passive turbulent drag reduction *** and numerical simulations have shown that well-designed riblets can significantly reduce drag in turbulent flows,making them highly promising and valuable for various *** this study,we focus on a scalloped riblet,which is designed by smoothly connecting two third-order polynomials,and thus the sharpness of the tip and the curvature of the valley can be well *** conduct direct numerical simulations of turbulent channel with smooth plate,scalloped riblet-mounted and triangular riblet-mounted *** in wall units of W^(+)=20 and height-width ratio ofγ=0.5 are selected for both riblet *** with the smooth plate case,the scalloped riblet case achieves an 8.68%drag reduction,while the triangular riblet case achieves a 4.79%drag *** obtained drag reduction rate of the triangular riblet is consistent with previous experiments and simulations,and the results indicate that the scalloped riblet is more effective in reducing drag and deserves further *** compare turbulent statistics of the scalloped riblet case with those of the triangular riblet *** mean velocity profiles of riblets are similar,but both the Reynolds shear stress and second-order statistics of velocity fluctuations and Liutex are significantly reduced in the scalloped riblets controlled turbulent channel,indicating that the scalloped riblet can more effectively suppress the spanwise and wall-normal turbulent intensity near the *** also compare the pre-multiplied spectra of streamwise velocity and streamwise Liutex component for the three cases to investigate the energy distribution and characteristics of Liutex *** Liutex vortex identification method is also utilized to analyze the instantaneous flow field,which provides insights into the flow field and could be bene

The two-stage electrostatic precipitator is widely used to purify oil mist ***,there is limited research on the influences of relative humidity,particle deposition characteristics,and the generation of gaseous ***,this paper established a numerical model of the electrostatic oil mist purifier and applied it to a two-stage electrostatic *** the model was used to investigate the corona discharge characteristics under different relative humidity conditions in the charged zone,the particle deposition characteristics,the purification efficiency,the ozone concentration distribution,and the oil vapor concentration distribution in the collection *** results indicate that,with a constant temperature,the corona current decreases as relative humidity increase,and there is a quadratic relationship between relative humidity and *** variation in relative humidity has little impact on the purification *** maximum ozone concentration occurs near the electrode line,and its concentration is influenced by the discharge current and inlet airflow *** oil vapor concentration reaches its maximum value at the side plates,with a value of 19 ppb,while it reaches the minimum value at the collecting zone electrode plate,with a value of 2 *** temperature is the main factor affecting the volatilization of the oil film,with higher temperatures resulting in higher oil vapor.

Modulating the immune microenvironment to establish sustained positive feedback within immune pathways represents a promising avenue for the treatment of ***,the precise and efficient delivery of therapeutic systems to the subcutaneous basal layer to modulate immune disorders is a major challenge in the treatment of autoimmune *** this project,we introduce a dual-functional microneedle(DF-MN)designed to combine MNs with multiple release kinetics and immunotherapy,the programmed treatment is achieved through segmented design of the MN structure,realizing the unification of rapid and long-lasting treatment of autoimmune *** vivo imaging results showed that GelMA@M-CSF showed fluorescent signals after 5 days of delivery to subcutaneous tissues,whereas HA@IL-13 showed minimal fluorescent signals after 2 *** multistage release behavior of MNs and the diffusion mechanism of drugs were explained at the molecular level,in combination with coarse-grained molecular ***,DF-MN can successfully induce macrophage reprogramming in vitro and ameliorate overall symptoms in a psoriasis mice model,suggesting that it has the potential to be an effective strategy for the treatment of psoriasis and portends to be a transformative platform for the treatment of other autoimmune diseases.

Durian(Durio zibethinus)is a tropical fruit that has a unique flavor and *** occupies a significant phylogenetic position within the Malvaceae *** core-eudicot plants are reported to share seven ancestral karyotypes that have undergone reshuffling,resulting in an abundant genomic ***,the ancestral karyotypes of the Malvaceae family,as well as the evolution trajectory leading to the28 chromosomes in durian,remain poorly ***,we report the high-quality assembly of the durian genome with comprehensive comparative genomic *** analyzing the collinear blocks between cacao and durian,we inferred 11 Malvaceae ancestral *** blocks were present in a single-copy form in cacao and mainly in triplicates in durian,possibly resulting from a recent whole genome triplication(WGT)event that led to hexaploidization of the durian genome around 20(17–24)million years ago.A large proportion of the duplicated genes in durian,such as those involved in the lignin biosynthesis module for phenylpropane biosynthesis,are derived directly from whole genome duplication,which makes it an important force in reshaping its genomic *** studies have revealed that genes involved in feruloyl-Co A formations were highly preferentially expressed in fruit peels,indicating that the thorns produced on durian fruit may comprise guaiacyl and syringyl *** all the analyzed transcription factors(TFs),members of the heat shock factor family(HSF)were the most significantly upregulated under heat *** subfamilies of genes encoding heat shock proteins(HSPs)in the durian genome appear to have undergone *** potential interactions between HSF Dzi05.397 and HSPs were examined and experimentally *** study provides a high-quality durian genome and reveals the reshuffling mechanism of ancestral Malvaceae chromosomes to produce the durian *** also provide insights into the mechanism underlying lignin bi
