Inhibitory effect of saffron on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma via targeting of ESR1 and CCND1 by its active compound crocetin

Background:Traditional Chinese medicine is promising for managing challenging and complex disorders,including cancer,and in particular,saffron is applied in treating various cancer ***,its potential therapeutic efficacy and active components in managing squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck(HNSCC)remain unclear ***:Using network pharmacology approaches,active ingredients of saffron,their target genes,and HNSCC-related genes were *** analyses were conducted for determining molecular functions and pathways enriched by genes that overlapped between the saffron target gene set and the HNSCC gene *** the four known active ingredients of saffron,crocetin was found to have the strongest inhibitory impact on HNSCC,based on the findings of cell viability and migration ***,the potential target genes of crocetin in HNSCC cells were examined using molecular docking experiments and were confirmed by *** s:Four active ingredients of saffron and 184 of their target genes were ***,a total of 34 overlapping saffron-/HNSCC-associated targets related to the four active ingredients were screened,and crocetin was chosen for further investigation because it had the strongest inhibitory effect on HNSCC *** docking experiments indicated that ESR1 and CCND1 were the target genes of *** results were confirmed through qPCR analysis,in which crocetin was found to lower the expression of the ESR1 and CCND1 genes in AMC-HN-8 and FaDu ***:According to our results,crocetin is a primary active anti-cancer component of saffron that may have potential in the development of novel HNSCC-treating ***,more thorough molecular research is necessary for confirming these results and elucidating the anti-cancer mechanism underlying saffron.

Path Planning and Tracking Control for Parking via Soft Actor-Critic Under Non-Ideal Scenarios

Parking in a small parking lot within limited space poses a difficult task. It often leads to deviations between the final parking posture and the target posture. These deviations can lead to partial occupancy of adjacent parking lots, which poses a safety threat to vehicles parked in these parking lots. However, previous studies have not addressed this issue. In this paper, we aim to evaluate the impact of parking deviation of existing vehicles next to the target parking lot(PDEVNTPL) on the automatic ego vehicle(AEV) parking, in terms of safety, comfort, accuracy, and efficiency of parking. A segmented parking training framework(SPTF) based on soft actor-critic(SAC) is proposed to improve parking performance. In the proposed method, the SAC algorithm incorporates strategy entropy into the objective function, to enable the AEV to learn parking strategies based on a more comprehensive understanding of the environment. Additionally, the SPTF simplifies complex parking tasks to maintain the high performance of deep reinforcement learning(DRL). The experimental results reveal that the PDEVNTPL has a detrimental influence on the AEV parking in terms of safety, accuracy, and comfort, leading to reductions of more than 27%, 54%, and 26%respectively. However, the SAC-based SPTF effectively mitigates this impact, resulting in a considerable increase in the parking success rate from 71% to 93%. Furthermore, the heading angle deviation is significantly reduced from 2.25 degrees to 0.43degrees.

3D robust anisotropic diffusion filtering algorithm for sparse view neutron computed tomography 3D image reconstruction

The most critical part of a neutron computed tomography(NCT) system is the image processing algorithm,which directly affects the quality and speed of the reconstructed *** types of noise in the system can degrade the quality of the reconstructed ***,to improve the quality of the reconstructed images of NCT systems,efficient image processing algorithms must be *** anisotropic diffusion filtering(ADF) algorithm can not only effectively suppress the noise in the projection data,but also preserve the image edge structure information by reducing the diffusion at the image ***,we propose the application of the ADF algorithm for NCT image *** compare the performance of different algorithms in NCT systems,we reconstructed images using the ordered subset simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique(OS-SART) algorithm with different regular terms as image processing *** the iterative reconstruction,we selected two image processing algorithms,the Total Variation and split Bregman solved total variation algorithms,for comparison with the performance of the ADF ***,the filtered back-projection algorithm was used for comparison with an iterative *** reconstructing the projection data of the numerical and clock models,we compared and analyzed the effects of each algorithm applied in the NCT *** on the reconstruction results,OS-SART-ADF outperformed the other algorithms in terms of denoising,preserving the edge structure,and suppressing *** example,when the 3D Shepp–Logan was reconstructed at 25 views,the root mean square error of OS-SART-ADF was the smallest among the four iterative algorithms,at only *** universal quality index,mean structural similarity,and correlation coefficient of the reconstructed image were the largest among all algorithms,with values of 0.9877,0.9878,and 0.9887,respectively.

Non-Gaussian feature of the output field from a double qubit-cavity ultrastrong coupling system

We investigate the non-Gaussian feature of radiation in a circuit quantum electrodynamics(QED) system where two qubits are strongly coupled to a single-mode cavity. In the regime of ultrastrong coupling(USC), the rotating-wave approximation is not valid, and the Rabi Hamiltonian contains counter-rotating wave terms, leading to level crossing and avoided crossings in the energy spectrum. We further analyze the intensity-amplitude correlation of the output field in these two novel scenarios. In the USC regime, the creation and annihilation operators in the correlation function are replaced, allowing for the identification of non-Gaussian features in the output field. Our findings reveal that despite the absence of squeezing effects in the output light, significant non-Gaussian characteristics are present. Additionally, we demonstrate that as the driving or coupling strength increases, the non-Gaussian features of the output field become more pronounced. This suggests that USC systems hold broad potential applications in the realms of nonlinear optics and the generation of non-Gaussian states.

Petrogenesis and tectonic implications of the Silurian adakitic granitoids in the eastern segment of the Qilian Orogenic Belt,Northwest China

Geodynamic mechanism responsible for the generation of Silurian granitoids and the tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt remains controversial. In this study, we report the results of zircon U–Pb age, and systematic whole-rock geochemical data for the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia granitoids within the North Qilian orogenic belt and the Qilian Block, respectively, to constrain their petrogenesis, and the Silurian tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate that the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia intrusions were emplaced at423 ± 3 Ma and 432 ± 4 Ma, respectively. The Haoquangou granodiorites are calc-alkaline, while the Liujiaxia granites belong to the high-K calc-alkaline *** are peraluminous in composition and have relatively depleted Nd isotopic [ε_(Nd)(t) =(-3.9 – + 0.6)] characteristics compared with regional basement rocks, implying their derivation from a juvenile lower crust. They show adakitic geochemical characteristics and were generated by partial melting of thickened lower continental crust. Postcollisional extensional regime related to lithospheric delamination was the most likely geodynamic mechanism for the generation of the Haoquangou granodiorite, while the Liujiaxia granites were generated in a compressive setting during continental collision between the Qaidam and Qilian blocks.

Effects of recrystallization on the low cycle fatigue behavior of directionally solidified superalloy DZ40M

The effects of recrystallization on low cycle fatigue behavior were investigated on directionally solidified Co-base superalloy DZ40M. Optical microscopy and SEM were used to examine the microstructure and fracture surface of the specimens. The mechanical testing results demonstrated that the low cycle fatigue property of DZ40M significantly decreased with the partial recrystallization. Fatigue cracks initiate near the carbides and the grain boundaries with slip-bands. Both the fatigue crack initiation and propagation can be accelerated with the occurrences of recrystallized grain boundaries.

Ecological studies suggested a link between air pollution and severe COVID-19 outcomes,while studies accounting for individual-level characteristics are *** the present study,we aimed to investigate the impact of short-term ambient air pollution exposure on disease severity among a cohort of 569 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted to designated hospitals in Zhejiang province,China,from January 17 to March 3,2020,and elucidate the possible biological processes involved using *** with mild cases,severe cases had higher proportion of medical conditions as well as unfavorable results in most of the laboratory tests,and manifested higher air pollution exposure *** exposure to air pollutants was associated with increased risk of severe COVID-19 with odds ratio(OR)of 1.89(95%confidence interval(CI):1.01,3.53),2.35(95%CI:1.20,4.61),2.87(95%CI:1.68,4.91),and 2.01(95%CI:1.10,3.69)for PM_(2.5),PM_(10),NO_(2)and CO,*** for NO_(2)remained significant in two-pollutant models after adjusting for other *** analysis showed 884 differentially expressed genes which mainly were enriched in virus clearance related biological processes between patients with high and low NO_(2)exposure levels,indicating that compromised immune response might be a potential underlying mechanistic *** findings highlight the impact of shortterm air pollution exposure,particularly for NO_(2),on COVID-19 severity,and emphasize the significance in mitigating the COVID-19 burden of commitments to improve air quality.

Robust multi-sensor image matching based on normalized self-similarity region descriptor

Multi-modal image matching is crucial in aerospace applications because it can fully exploit the complementary and valuable information contained in the amount and diversity of remote sensing ***,it remains a challenging task due to significant non-linear radiometric,geometric differences,and noise across different *** improve the performance of heterologous image matching,this paper proposes a normalized self-similarity region descriptor to extract consistent structural *** first construct the pointwise self-similarity region descriptor based on the Euclidean distance between adjacent image blocks to reflect the structural properties of multi-modal ***,a linear normalization approach is used to form Modality Independent Region Descriptor(MIRD),which can effectively distinguish structural features such as points,lines,corners,and flat between multi-modal *** further improve the matching accuracy,the included angle cosine similarity metric is adopted to exploit the directional vector information of multi-dimensional feature *** experimental results show that the proposed MIRD has better matching accuracy and robustness for various multi-modal image matching than the state-of-the-art *** can effectively extract consistent geometric structure features and suppress the influence of SAR speckle noise using non-local neighboring image blocks operation,effectively applied to various multi-modal image matching.
