Functional Capsules Encapsulating Molecular-Recognizable Nanogels for Facile Removal of Organic Micro-Pollutants from Water

A novel method has been successfully developed for the facile and efficient removal of organic micro-pollutants(OMP)from water based on novel functional capsules encapsulating molecular-recognizable *** functional capsules are composed of ultrathin calcium alginate(Ca-Alg)hydrogel shells as semipermeable membranes and encapsulated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid-g-mono-(6-ethanediamine-6-deoxy)-β-cyclodextrin)(PNCD)nanogels withβ-cyclodextrin(CD)moieties as OMP *** semipermeable membranes of the capsules enable the free transfer of OMP and water molecules across the capsule shells,but confine the encapsulated PNCD nanogels within the *** A(BPA),an endocrine-disrupting chemical that is released from many plastic water containers,was chosen as a model OMP molecule in this *** on the host–guest recognition complexation,the CD moieties in the PNCD nanogels can efficiently capture BPA ***,the facile and efficient removal of BPA from water can be achieved by immersing the proposed functional capsules into BPA-containing aqueous solutions and then simply removing them,which is easily done due to the capsules’characteristically large size of up to several *** kinetics of adsorption of BPA molecules by the capsules is well described by a pseudo-second-order kinetic model,and the isothermal adsorption thermodynamics align well with the Freundlich and Langmuir isothermal adsorption *** regeneration of capsules can be achieved simply by washing them with water at temperatures above the volume phase transition temperature of the PNCD ***,the proposed functional capsules encapsulating molecular-recognizable nanogels provide a novel strategy for the facile and efficient removal of OMP from water.

Photocatalytic oxygen reduction for hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))synthesis presents a green and costeffective production ***,achieving highly selective H_(2)O_(2)synthesis remains challenging,necessitating precise control over free radical reaction pathways and minimizing undesirable oxidative ***,we report for the visible light-driven simultaneous co-photocatalytic reduction of O2to H_(2)O_(2)and oxidation of biomass using the atomic rubidium-nitride modified carbon nitride(CNRb).The optimized CNRb catalyst demonstrates a record photoreduction rate of 8.01 mM h^(-1)for H_(2)O_(2)generation and photooxidation rate of 3.75 mM h^(-1)for furfuryl alcohol to furoic acid,achieving a remarkable solar-to-chemical conversion(SCC)efficiency of up to 2.27%.Experimental characterizations and DFT calculation disclosed that the introducing atomic Rb–N configurations allows for the high-selective generation of superoxide radicals while suppressing hydroxyl free radical *** is because the Rb–N serves as the new alternative site to perceive a stronger connection position for O2adsorption and reinforce the capability to extract protons,thereby triggering a high selective redox product *** study holds great potential in precisely regulating reactive radical processes at the atomic level,thereby paving the way for efficient synthesis of H_(2)O_(2)coupled with biomass valorization.

Kangaroo mother care(KMC)is recommended by the World Health Organization for the care of preterm and low-birth-weight *** has been shown to increase survival rates and the quality of life of preterm and low-birth-weight infants,including improved clinical outcomes,weight gain and thermoregulation when compared to conventional care[1,2,3].More recent research focused on KMC in high-risk preterm,critically ill newborns and newborns requiring special care,which suggested that KMC helped to stabilize the vital signs of preterm infants[4,5].KMC is well accepted and promoted by medical associations and professional organizations around the world[6,7].In November 2015 with support from the National Health Commission of China,participants from ten hospitals based in different areas of China received theoretical and practical training on *** a four-year period,health professionals from these hospitals participated in theoretical and practical training,which included two operation training from foreign experts,two academic lectures,and three study tours to hospitals in the UK,Sweden and the *** this period,the KMC Operational Manual for Premature Infants in China was developed,and a 12-month prospective multicenter study of KMC for preterm infants was conducted in the eight *** the present study,we further examine whether KMC was sustained as a practice during a 12-month period from April 2018 to March 2019 and the characteristics of preterm infants that received KMC.

The equilibrium melting point (Tm0) is a crucial thermodynamic parameter for characterizing the crystallization and melting behavior of semi-crystalline polymers. However, the direct measurement of Tm0 poses a significant challenge because of the difficulty in physically fabricating fully-extended chain crystals of high-molecular-weight polymers. Therefore, various extrapolation equations for Tm0 have been proposed that utilize the thermal properties of ordinary folded-chain lamellae. Among these, the Gibbs-Thomson equation is one of the most commonly employed for modeling. Despite its widespread use, there are notable variations in the Tm0 values obtained by different research groups, even when based on similar samples. This raises questions about the validity and accuracy of using the Gibbs-Thomson equation to linearly extrapolate Tm0. In this study, we prepared a series of oligomer extended-chain crystals (ECCs) of poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and used their properties for Gibbs-Thomson fitting. The results reveal a perfect linear relationship, with an extrapolated Tm0 value of 136.08 degrees C. The basal surface free energy of the oligomer ECCs was calculated as 0.084 J/m2, which is approximately twice that of folded-chain lamellae. This difference is attributed to the aggregation of highly mobile free tails on the crystal surface. The two structural features of oligomer ECCs-large thickness and fixed surface-better fulfill the conditions for applying the Gibbs-Thomson equation, ensuring its validity and accuracy. Therefore, we believe that the Gibbs-Thomson fit can produce reliable results when sufficient high-quality data are used.

本研究成功开发了一种具有泵送控释特性的新型肠靶向θ型胶囊,用于疏水性药物的可控释放。该胶囊由海藻酸钙-壳聚糖/鱼精蛋白/二氧化硅(ACPSi)复合壳和呈θ形状的两个腔室组成(θ-ACPSi),两个腔室分别封装有药物和助推剂。肠溶性羟丙甲纤维素酞酸醋(HPMCP)微球嵌入到药室的外壳中。θ-ACPSi的外壳在胃部环境中为所封装的药物提供了更好的保护,而在肠道中表现出出色的肠靶向药物释放特性。以吲哚美辛为模型药物、聚丙烯酸(PAA)为助推剂,药室壳层“微通道”的打开和助推室中PAA的溶胀均有助于提高高浓度吲哚美辛的释放速率,保证了吲哚美辛在小肠部位具有恒定的释放速率。在胃中(pH=2.5),只有不到1%的吲哚美辛被释放。然而,当θ-ACPSi胶囊进入小肠(pH=6.8)时,药室外壳中的HPMCP微球因溶解而打开“微通道”,而PAA溶胀以提供泵送动力。结果,超过60%的吲哚美辛在小肠中以恒定速度释放。所制备的θ-ACPSi胶囊为开发响应型泵送控释系统和肠靶向药物递送系统提供了一种潜在的新型模式。

The Argentine shortfin squid Illex argentinus is an economically important short-lived species widely distributed in the southwest Atlantic *** abundance and distribution of *** are associated with climate change and environmental *** potential distribution of *** was modeled with various environmental variables including sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface height(SSH),chlorophyll a,sea surface salinity(SSS),net primary productivity(NPP),mixed layer depth(MLD),eddy kinetic energy(EKE),and photosynthetically active radiation(PAR)using the maximum entropy(MaxEnt)approach during the peak fishing seasons(January–April).The habitat suitability index(HSI)was defined as the probability of species emergence from the MaxEnt model and the area of HSI≥0.6 was regarded as *** indicate that the predicted habitat correlated with the actual fishing position,with similar trends in the percentages of suitable habitats and catch per unit effort(CPUE)of *** from January to ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD were identified critical environmental variables for the distribution of *** addition,the median of preferred ranges of the critical environmental variables were concentrated within the suitable habitats of *** Area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve(AUC)was greater than 0.96 for all four *** in latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG and LONG)of fishing effort were consistent with latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG_H and LONG_H)of the *** findings suggest that the MaxEnt model is an effective tool to predict the potential distribution of ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD should be given with more extensive attention in predicting the potential distribution of ***,as they are important environmental indicators that can help decision-makers search for the fishing ground of *** in the Southwest Atlantic.

In this paper, the multi-agent systems(MASs) typically with heterogeneous unknown nonlinearities and nonidentical unknown control coefficients are studied. Although the model information of MASs is coarse, the leader-following consensus is still pursued, with a prescribed performance and zero consensus errors. Leveraging a powerful funnel control strategy, a fully distributed and completely relative-state-dependent protocol is designed. Distinctively, the time-varying function characterizing the performance boundary is introduced, not only to construct the funnel gains but also as an indispensable part of the protocol,enhancing the control ability and enabling the consensus errors to converge to zero(rather than a residual set). Remark that when control directions are unknown, coexisting with inherent system nonlinearities, it is essential to incorporate an additional compensation mechanism while imposing a hierarchical structure of communication topology for the control design and analysis. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Immobilization of laccase on magnetic PEGDA-CS inverse opal hydrogel for enhancement of bisphenol A degradation in aqueous solution

Endocrine disruptors such as bisphenol A(BPA)adversely affect the environment and human *** are used for the efficient biodegradation of various persistent organic pollutants in an environmentally safe ***,the direct application of free laccases is generally hindered by short enzyme lifetimes,non-reusability,and the high cost of a single *** this study,laccases were immobilized on a novel magnetic threedimensional poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate(PEGDA)-chitosan(CS)inverse opal hydrogel(LAC@MPEGDA@CS@IOH).The immobilized laccase showed significant improvement in the BPA degradation performance and superior storage stability compared with the free laccase.91.1%of 100 mg/L BPA was removed by the LAC@MPEGDA@CS@IOH in 3 hr,whereas only 50.6%of BPA was removed by the same amount of the free *** with the laccase,the outstanding BPA degradation efficiency of the LAC@MPEGDA@CS@IOH was maintained over a wider range of pH values and ***,its relative activity of was maintained at 70.4%after 10 cycles,and the system performed well in actual water *** efficientmethod for preparing immobilized laccases is simple and green,and it can be used to further develop ecofriendly biocatalysts to remove organic pollutants from wastewater.
