CO_2 sequestration utilizing basic-oxygen furnace slag:Controlling factors,reaction mechanisms and V–Cr concerns

Basic-oxygen furnace slag（BOF-slag） contains 〉35%CaO,a potential component for CO_*** this study,slag-water-CO_2 reaction experiments were conducted with the longest reaction duration extending to 96 hr under high CO_2 pressures of 100-300 kg/cm2 to optimize BOF-slag carbonation conditions,to address carbonation mechanisms,and to evaluate the extents of V and Cr release from slag *** slag carbonation degree generally reached the maximum values after 24 hr slag-water-CO_2 reaction and was controlled by slag particle size and reaction *** maximum carbonation degree of 71%was produced from the experiment using fine slag of〈0.5 mm under 100℃and a CO_2 pressure of 250 kg/cm^2 with a water/slag ratio of *** release from the slag to water was significantly enhanced（generally 〉2 orders） by slag *** contrast,slag carbonation did not promote chromium release until the reaction duration exceeded 24 ***,the water chromium content was generally at least an order lower than the vanadium concentration,which decreased when the reaction duration exceeded 24 ***,long reaction durations of 48-96 hr are proposed to reduce environmental impacts while keeping high carbonation *** textures and water compositions indicated that Mg-wustite,in addition to CaO-containing minerals,can also be ***,the conventional expression that only considered carbonation of the CaO-containing minerals undervalued the CO_2 sequestration capability of the BOF-slag by^20%.Therefore,the BOF-slag is a better CO_2 storage medium than that previously recognized.

A case of huge primary liposarcoma in the liver

Primary liver liposarcoma is a rare disease. Because of its rarity, the knowledge of the clinical course, management, and prognosis of primary liver liposarcoma are all limited for clinicians. A 61-year-old female patient who suffered from a huge primary liposarcoma in the central portion of the liver had the clinical presentations of fever, nausea, vomiting, jaundice, and body weight loss. The huge tumor was resected successfully. However, the tumor recurred repeatedly and she had repeated hepatectomies to remove the tumor. The tumor became aggravating after repeated surgeries. Eventually, the patient had cervical spinal metastasis of liposarcoma and she survived for 26 months after liver liposarcoma was diagnosed. Although the tumor may become aggravating after repeated surgeries, repeated hepatectomies are still the best policy to achieve a long-term survival for the patients.

Significantly Improved High-Temperature Energy Storage Performance of BOPP Films by Coating Nanoscale Inorganic Layer

Biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)is one of the most commonly used commercial capacitor films,but its upper operating temperature is below 105℃due to the sharply increased electrical conduction loss at high *** this study,growing an inorganic nanoscale coating layer onto the BOPP film's surface is proposed to suppress electrical conduction loss at high temperature,as well as increase its upper operating *** kinds of inorganic coating layers that have different energy band structure and dielectric property are grown onto the both surface of BOPP films,*** effect of inorganic coating layer on the high-temperature energy storage performance has been systematically *** favorable coating layer materials and appropriate thickness enable the BOPP films to have a significant improvement in high-temperature energy storage ***,when the aluminum nitride(AIN)acts as a coating layer,the AIN-BOPP-AIN sandwich-structured films possess a discharged energy density of 1.5 J cm^(-3)with an efficiency of 90%at 125℃,accompanying an outstandingly cyclic *** the discharged energy density and operation temperature are significantly enhanced,indicating that this efficient and facile method provides an important reference to improve the high-temperature energy storage performance of polymer-based dielectric films.

Electronic waste(e-waste)and diabetes are global challenges to modern ***,solving these two challenges together has been challenging until ***,we propose a laser-induced transfer method to fabricate portable glucose sensors by recycling copper from *** bring up a laser-induced full-automatic fabrication method for synthesizing continuous heterogeneous Cu_(x)O(h-Cu_(x)O)nano-skeletons electrode for glucose sensing,offering rapid(<1 min),clean,air-compatible,and continuous fabrication,applicable to a wide range of Cu-containing *** this approach,h-Cu_(x)O nanoskeletons,with an inner core predominantly composed of Cu_(2)O with lower oxygen content,juxtaposed with an outer layer rich in amorphous Cu_(x)O(a-Cu_(x)O)with higher oxygen content,are derived from discarded printed circuit *** employed in glucose detection,the h-Cu_(x)O nano-skeletons undergo a structural evolution process,transitioning into rigid Cu_(2)O@CuO nano-skeletons prompted by electrochemical *** transformation yields exceptional glucose-sensing performance(sensitivity:9.893 mA mM^(-1) cm^(-2);detection limit:0.34μM),outperforming most previously reported glucose *** functional theory analysis elucidates that the heterogeneous structure facilitates gluconolactone *** glucose detection device has also been downsized to optimize its scalability and portability for convenient integration into people’s everyday lives.

Quantum vector DC magnetometry via selective phase accumulation

Precision measurement of magnetic fields is a crucial issue in both fundamental scientific research and practical sensing technology. The sensitive detection of a vector magnetic field poses a significant challenge in quantum magnetometry, particularly in estimating a vector DC magnetic field with high precision. Here, we propose a comprehensive protocol for quantum vector DC magnetometry, utilizing selective phase accumulation in both non-entangled and entangled quantum probes. Building upon the principles of Ramsey interferometry, our protocol enables the selective accumulation of phase for a specific magnetic field component by incorporating a meticulously designed pulse sequence. In the individual measurement scheme, we employ three individual quantum interferometries to independently estimate each of the three magnetic field components. Alternatively, in the simultaneous measurement scheme, the application of a pulse sequence along different directions enables the simultaneous estimation of all three magnetic field components using only one quantum interferometry. Notably, by employing an entangled state(such as the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state) as the input state, the measurement precisions of all three components may reach the Heisenberg limit. This study not only establishes a general protocol for measuring vector magnetic fields using quantum probes, but also presents a viable pathway for achieving entanglement-enhanced multi-parameter estimation.

Enhanced prediction of anisotropic deformation behavior using machine learning with data augmentation

Mg alloys possess an inherent plastic anisotropy owing to the selective activation of deformation mechanisms depending on the loading *** characteristic results in a diverse range of flow curves that vary with a deformation *** study proposes a novel approach for accurately predicting an anisotropic deformation behavior of wrought Mg alloys using machine learning(ML)with data *** developed model combines four key strategies from data science:learning the entire flow curves,generative adversarial networks(GAN),algorithm-driven hyperparameter tuning,and gated recurrent unit(GRU)*** proposed model,namely GAN-aided GRU,was extensively evaluated for various predictive scenarios,such as interpolation,extrapolation,and a limited dataset *** model exhibited significant predictability and improved generalizability for estimating the anisotropic compressive behavior of ZK60 Mg alloys under 11 annealing conditions and for three loading *** GAN-aided GRU results were superior to those of previous ML models and constitutive *** superior performance was attributed to hyperparameter optimization,GAN-based data augmentation,and the inherent predictivity of the GRU for *** a first attempt to employ ML techniques other than artificial neural networks,this study proposes a novel perspective on predicting the anisotropic deformation behaviors of wrought Mg alloys.

Importance Performance Analysis（IPA）can help managers identify improvement *** causation and diversity of importance of service attributes,traditional IPA cannot accurately analyze the importance of service attributes and priority ranking for improvement,leading to wrongful decision *** establish adequate decision-making methods by locating core issues,we first employ Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory（DEMATEL）to assay causation among service attributes and estimate implicit importance via multiple regression analyses as the weights of service attributes,and then included the weights in composite importance,and used the weighted DEMATEL composite importance to estimate IPA importance for regulating the importance of service ***,the case study on mobile telecommunications companies in Taiwan evidences the effectiveness that modifying IPA with DEMATEL composite importance can help managers make decisions.

Ontology has recently gained popularity in building knowledge base because the description, localization and effective reuse of software patterns and systems of patterns can be approached through an ontology-based formalism. This paper designs ontology in the mobile phone domain for the construction of knowledge base, and presents a new method for knowledge assessment in which quizzing questions are drawn using the mobile phone ontology-based knowledge base to assess the sufficiency of professional knowledge of mobile phone salespersons. An automated learning service is then provided to offer users personalized learning contents subject to their knowledge deficiencies.

Electrically tunable third-harmonic generation using intersubband polaritonic metasurfaces

Nonlinear intersubband polaritonic metasurfaces,which integrate giant nonlinear responses derived from intersubband transitions of multiple quantum wells(MQWs)with plasmonic nanoresonators,not only facilitate efficient frequency conversion at pump intensities on the order of few tens of kW cm^(-2)but also enable electrical modulation of nonlinear responses at the individual meta-atom level and dynamic beam *** electrical modulation characteristics of the magnitude and phase of the nonlinear optical response are realized through Stark tuning of the resonant intersubband *** this study,we report,for the first time,experimental implementations of electrical modulation characteristics of mid-infrared third-harmonic generation(THG)using an intersubband polaritonic metasurface based on MQW with electrically tunable third-order nonlinear ***,we achieved a 450%modulation depth of the THG signal,86%suppression of zero-order THG diffraction tuning based on local phase tuning exceeding 180 degrees,and THG beam steering using phase *** work proposes a new route for electrically tunable flat nonlinear optical elements with versatile functionalities.
