Cross entropy is a measure in machine learning and deep learning that assesses the difference between predicted and actual probability distributions. In this study, we propose cross entropy as a performance evaluation metric for image classifier models and apply it to the CT image classification of lung cancer. A convolutional neural network is employed as the deep neural network (DNN) image classifier, with the residual network (ResNet) 50 chosen as the DNN archi-tecture. The image data used comprise a lung CT image set. Two classification models are built from datasets with varying amounts of data, and lung cancer is categorized into four classes using 10-fold cross-validation. Furthermore, we employ t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding to visually explain the data distribution after classification. Experimental results demonstrate that cross en-tropy is a highly useful metric for evaluating the reliability of image classifier models. It is noted that for a more comprehensive evaluation of model perfor-mance, combining with other evaluation metrics is considered essential. .

Purpose: Telomere length (TL) is an indicator of age;however, hormonal influences complicate individual aging. It remains unclear whether TL shortening is a direct factor in both individual and cellular aging. Therefore, we examined the direct relationship between TL and cellular senescence at the cellular level. Methods: Telomerase activity, TL, and gene expression were measured in cultured human lung-, fetal-, and skin-derived fibroblasts, human skin keratinocytes, and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene-immortalized cells using detection kits, Cawthon’s method, and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, respectively. Novel substances that elongate telomeres were screened to confirm cell rejuvenation effects. Results: Long-term cell culture of TIG-1-20 normal human fibroblasts resulted in TL shortening, decreased division rate, and senescence progression, whereas in OUMS-36T-2 cells, TL elongation via TERT gene transfer increased the division rate, reduced endoplasmic reticulum stress, and upregulated genes associated with young individuals, indicating that cellular rejuvenation occurs via TL elongation. In addition, a honey child powder (HCP) extract was found through screening, and the HCP extract strongly suppressed the menin gene, resulting in increased telomerase activity and extended cell lifespan. Upon addition of the HCP extract to skin fibroblasts, gene expression of moisturizing components, including collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin, increased, and exhibited a rejuvenating effect with an increase in elastin amount. Conclusions: TL elongation or shortening is involved in cell proliferation rate and cellular aging, and TL elongation rejuvenates cells. In addition, HCP extract has a rejuvenating effect on cells and is expected to be a rejuvenating compound.

In recent years,graphene field-effect-transistors(GFETs)have demonstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(THz)photodetection due to their fast response and *** features are essential to enable emerging THz applications,including 6G wireless communications,quantum information,bioimaging and ***,the overall performance of these photodetectors may be utterly compromised by the impact of internal resistances presented in the device,so-called access or parasitic *** this work,we provide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the photoresponse of high-mobility dual-gate GFET *** dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)the internal resistance of the device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an improved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of the photodetector,*** results can be well understood by a series resistance model,as shown by the excellent agreement found between the experimental data and theoretical *** findings are therefore relevant to understand and improve the overall performance of existing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

Ssu72磷酸酶是酵母裂解/多聚腺苷化因子(cleavage/polyadenylation factor,CPF)复合物的组成成分,可以催化RNA聚合酶II的C末端结构域(C-terminal domain,CTD)S5-P、S7-P的去磷酸化。后又有研究指出Ssu72磷酸酶参与有丝分裂过程中染色体凝聚力的调控。为进一步明确Ssu72磷酸酶是否会影响裂殖酵母减数分裂过程中染色体的分离,本研究利用绿色荧光蛋白(green fluorescent protein,GFP)标记着丝粒、红色荧光蛋白标记微管蛋白Atb2,并在荧光显微镜下实时观察ssu72Δ细胞的整个减数分裂染色体分离过程。结果表明,ssu72Δ细胞在减数第二次分裂中后期发生纺锤体交叉,并且这种纺锤体的交叉产生了一种新型的孢子排布缺陷模式。本研究为高等生物中磷酸酶Ssu72的研究提供重要的借鉴意义。

我们将早稻田大学校园内的4号楼改建为新的村上春树图书馆，成为一条穿过原有建筑的“木隧道”。木隧道超越了时间和空间，我们将村上春树小说中连接不同维度的“隧道”转译为建筑空间。我们通过将外墙重新漆成白色涂装和原来的建筑，强调了新建的三维木屏风雨棚。雨棚作为隧道入口的指示，也代表了维度之间的边界。这条木制隧道纵向贯穿了原有的楼板，同时用作书架、剧院和演讲厅。20世纪是混凝土的时代，混凝土具有“坚硬”和“冰冷”的特性。相比之下，对于这个图书馆，我们想象了一条隧道，通过使用细腻柔软的木材来保护我们、培育梦想。

Warthin’s tumor is the second most frequent neoplasm next to pleomorphic adenoma in the salivary gland. The tumor contains the epithelial oncocyte cells with the presence of rich-mitochondria and their surrounding abundant lymphocytes. A relatively new disease entity of IgG4-related disease frequently occurs in the salivary gland. However, the coexistence of Warthin’s tumor and IgG4-related disease is scarcely observed. We have recently experienced a rare case of Warthin’s tumor with IgG4-related sialadenitis. A 51-year-old man presented to our hospital, complaining of a mass with right submandibular tenderness and spontaneous pain. A computed tomography scan of the cervical region revealed a suspicion of lymph node proliferative disease, including malignant lymphoma. Elevated serum levels of IL-2R: 1843 U/ml (reference value 122 - 496 U/ml), IgG: 3430 mg/dl (reference value 861 - 1747 mg/dl), and IgG4: 3140 mg/dl (reference value 11 - 121 mg/dl) were observed. Other laboratory data showed within normal ranges. The cervical tumor was diagnosed as Warthin’s tumor by the findings of fine-needle aspiration cytology and biopsy examination. Immunohistochemistry revealed numerous IgG4- and IgG-positive cells with fibrosis surrounding the epithelial component of Warthin’s tumor, suggesting IgG4-rerated sialadenitis. Finally, we diagnosed the cervical tumor as Warthin tumor with IgG4-related sialadenitis. This is the second report describing a case of Warthin’s tumor with possible involvement of IgG4-related sialadenitis.

In numerical simulations of tidal current farms,large-scale computational fluid dynamic(CFD)simulations with a high-resolution grid are required to calculate the interactions between tidal *** this study,we develop a numerical simulation method for tidal current turbines using the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM),which is suitable for large-scale CFD *** turbines are modeled by using the actuator line(ACL)model,which represents each blade as a group of actuator points in a *** order to validate our LBM-ACL model,we perform simulations for two interacting tidal turbines,and results of turbine performance are compared with a water tank *** proposed model successfully reproduces the variation of the torque due to wave effects and mean turbine *** have demonstrated a large-scale simulation for ten tidal turbines using 8.55×10^(8) grid points and 16 GPUs of Tesla P100 and the simulation has been completed within 9 hours with the LBM performance of 392 MLUPS per GPU.

在减数分裂过程中,黏连蛋白(cohesin)在着丝粒区域定位出现缺陷时会导致一系列疾病的产生。黏连蛋白的正确定位离不开装载复合体Mis4-Ssl3的参与,现已知黏连蛋白在装载复合体的帮助下完成装载过程,但是其如何在着丝粒区域定位仍不清楚。基于已有研究报道黏连蛋白在着丝粒的定位由着丝粒蛋白的磷酸化介导,本研究从Sim4着丝粒蛋白复合体组分Fta2蛋白着手,通过生物信息学手段寻找潜在的磷酸化位点,在裂殖酵母(Schizosaccharomyces pombe)中构建了fta2-9A和fta2-9D突变体,并通过噻苯咪唑(thiabendazole,TBZ)敏感度测试和荧光显微定位对其表型进行检测。结果显示,Fta2蛋白的磷酸化对有丝分裂没有影响,但对减数分裂染色体分离存在影响。本研究表明Fta2的磷酸化对减数分裂非常重要,很可能与减数分裂特有的黏连蛋白定位有关。

Follicular lymphoma(FL)is the most common indolent B-cell lymphoma(BCL)***,its incidence has increased in Europe,the United States,and Asia,with the number of gastrointestinal FL cases expected to *** abnormalities related to t(14;18)translocation,BCL2 overexpression,NF-κB pathway-related factors,histone acetylases,and histone methyltransferases cause FL and enhance its ***,microRNAs are commonly used in diagnosing FL and predicting patient *** clinical trials on novel therapeutics targeting these genetic abnormalities and immunomodulatory mechanisms have been conducted,resulting in a marked improvement in therapeutic outcomes for *** developing these innovative therapeutic agents targeting specific genetic mutations and immune pathways has provided hope for curative options,FL treatment has become more complex,requiring combinatorial therapeutic ***,optimal treatment combinations have not yet been achieved,highlighting the importance of a complete understanding regarding the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal ***,this article reviews key research on the molecular pathogenesis of nodal FL and novel therapies targeting the causative genetic ***,the results of clinical trials are summarized,with a particular focus on treating nodal and gastrointestinal FLs.
