Mg-Al-Zn-Ca-Y alloys with excellent ignition and corrosion resistances—termed SEN alloys(where the letters"S,""E,"and"N"stand for stainless,environmentally friendly,and non-flammable,respectively)—have been developed *** this study,the microstructure,tensile properties,and high-cycle fatigue properties of an extruded Mg-9.0Al-0.8Zn-0.1Mn-0.3Ca-0.2Y(SEN9)alloy are investigated and compared with those of a commercial Mg-9.0Al-0.8Zn-0.1Mn(AZ91)alloy extruded under the same *** the extruded SEN9 alloy and the extruded AZ91 alloy have a fully recrystallized structure comprising equiaxed grains,but the former has a smaller average grain size owing to the promoted dynamic recrystallization during *** extruded AZ91 alloy contains coarse Mg_(17)Al_(12) discontinuous precipitate(DP)bands parallel to the extrusion direction,which are formed during its cool down after *** contrast,the extruded SEN9 alloy contains relatively fine undissolved Al_(2)Ca,Al_(8)Mn_(4)Y,and Al_(2)Y second-phase particles,which are formed during the solidification stage of the casting *** tensile strength of the extruded SEN9 alloy,which has finer grains and more abundant particles,is slightly higher than that of the extruded AZ91 ***,the difference in their strengths is relatively small because the stronger solid-solution hardening and precipitation hardening effects in the extruded AZ91alloy offset the stronger grain-boundary hardening and dispersion hardening effects in the extruded SEN9alloy to some *** tensile elongation of the extruded AZ91 alloy is significantly lower than that of the extruded SEN9 alloy because the large cracks formed in the DP bands in the former cause its premature *** the extruded SEN9 alloy has higher tensile properties than the extruded AZ91alloy,the high-cycle fatigue life and fatigue strength of the former are shorter and lower,respectively,than those of the *** DP bands in the extruded

We propose a single-poly MTP(multi-time programmable)cell consisting of one capacitor and two transistors based on MagnaChip's BCD *** area of a unit cell is 37.743 75μ*** proposed single-poly MTP cell is erased and programmed by the FN tunnelling *** design a 256 bit MTP memory for PMICs(power management ICs)using the proposed single-poly MTP *** small-area designs,we propose a selection circuit between V10V and V5V,and a WL(word-line)driver by simplifying its logic *** reduce the total layout area by using pumped internal node voltages from a seven-stage cross-coupled charge pump for V10V(=10V)and V5V(=5V)without any additional charge *** layout size of the designed 256 bit MTP memory is 618.250μm×437.425μm.

To accurately probe the tactile information on soft skin,it is critical for the pressure sensing array to be free of noise and inter-taxel crosstalk,irrespective of the measurement ***,on dynamically moving and soft surfaces,which are common conditions for on-skin and robotic applications,obtaining precise measurement without compromising the sensing performance is a significant challenge due to mechanical coupling between the sensors and with the moving *** this work,multi-level architectural design of micro-pyramids and trapezoid-shaped mechanical barrier array was implemented to enable accurate spatiotemporal tactile sensing on soft surfaces under dynamic ***-off relationship between limit of detection and bending insensitivity was discovered,which was overcome by employing micropores in barrier ***,in-situ pressure mapping on dynamically moving soft surfaces without signal distortion is demonstrated while human skin and/or soft robots are performing complicated tasks such as reading Braille and handling the artificial organs.

BACKGROUND Combined tumors comprising large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma have been rarely reported in the *** SUMMARY We report a case of a 73-year-old woman with chronic hepatitis B suspected to have a malignant hepatic mass(segment 3;size,4.5 cm)and lymph node metastasis based on computed tomography and magnetic resonance *** being Child-Pugh class A,esophageal varices were *** underwent left lateral sectionectomy and lymph node *** examination revealed a collision tumor consisting of large-cell neuroendocrine(90%)and hepatocellular(10%)*** combined carcinoma had metastasized to one of the three lymph nodes *** patient recovered without any postoperative complications and was discharged in good condition on postoperative day *** chemotherapy was not *** recurrence occurred during a follow-up period of 24 *** To improve the therapeutic management of combined tumors in the liver,it is necessary to discuss each clinical experience and consider an appropriate method for the preoperative diagnosis and treatment.

Intra-abdominal desmoid tumors mimicking gastrointestinal stromal tumors——8 cases: A case report

BACKGROUND Intra-abdominal desmoid tumors(DTs) can mimic recurrence or progression of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs). Differential diagnosis is important to avoid unnecessary or inappropriate *** SUMMARY All 8 patients experienced surgical resection of GIST, and median time to diagnosis of DT was 1.8 years after surgical resection. All sites of DT were in the peritoneum around the surgical sites of GIST. The following clinical suspicion coupled with radiological findings contributed to the suspicion of intraabdominal DTs:(1) Occurrence of a new single lesion in the peritoneum around the surgical sites of GIST;(2) uncontrolled lesion with imatinib while other lesions being controlled with imatinib;(3) well-defined ovoid shaped lesion with delayed or mild enhancement and absence of necrosis, hemorrhage, and cystic change on computed tomography; and(4) a lesion showing mild or no hypermetabolic activity on 18 fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography,contrary to initially hyperactive lesion of GIST. All DTs were surgically removed except for one unresectable DT and only one DT recurred at another site of peritoneum, which was also surgically *** Intra-abdominal DT should be a differential diagnosis for a new single lesion in patients with GIST.

Effect of electrical stimulation on neural regeneration via the p38-RhoA and ERK1/2-Bcl-2 pathways in spinal cord-injured rats

Although electrical stimulation is therapeutically applied for neural regeneration in patients, it remains unclear how electrical stimulation exerts its effects at the molecular level on spinal cord injury （SCI）. To identify the signaling pathway involved in electrical stimulation improving the function of injured spinal cord, 21 female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three groups： control （no surgical intervention, n = 6）, SCI （SCI only, n = 5）, and electrical simulation （ES; SCI induction followed by ES treatment, n = 10）. A complete spinal cord transection was performed at the 10^th thoracic level. Electrical stimulation of the injured spinal cord region was applied for 4 hours per day for 7 days. On days 2 and 7 post SCI, the Touch-Test Sensory Evaluators and the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan locomotor scale were used to evaluate rat sensory and motor function. Somatosensory-evoked potentials of the tibial nerve of a hind paw of the rat were measured to evaluate the electrophysiological function of injured spinal cord. Western blot analysis was performed to measure p38-RhoA and ERK1/2-Bcl-2 pathways related protein levels in the injured spinal cord. Rat sensory and motor functions were similar between SCI and ES groups. Com- pared with the SCI group, in the ES group, the latencies of the somatosensory-evoked potential of the tibial nerve of rats were significantly shortened, the amplitudes were significantly increased, RhoA protein level was significantly decreased, protein gene product 9.5 expression, ERK1/2, p38, and Bcl-2 protein levels in the spinal cord were significantly increased. These data suggest that ES can promote the recovery of electrophysiological function of the injured spinal cord through regulating p38-RhoA and ERK1/2-Bcl-2 pathway-related protein levels in the injured spinal cord.

Early expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha and vascular endothelial growth factor increase the neuronal plasticity of activated endogenous neural stem cells after focal cerebral ischemia

Endogenous neural stem cells become ＂activated＂ after neuronal injury, but the activation sequence and fate of endogenous neural stem cells in focal cerebral ischemia model are little known. We evaluated the relationships between neural stem cells and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor expression in a photothromobotic rat stroke model using immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis. We also evaluated the chronological changes of neural stem cells by 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine（BrdU） incorporation. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α expression was initially increased from 1 hour after ischemic injury, followed by vascular endothelial growth factor expression. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α immunoreactivity was detected in the ipsilateral cortical neurons of the infarct core and peri-infarct area. Vascular endothelial growth factor immunoreactivity was detected in bilateral cortex, but ipsilateral cortex staining intensity and numbers were greater than the contralateral cortex. Vascular endothelial growth factor immunoreactive cells were easily found along the peri-infarct area 12 hours after focal cerebral ischemia. The expression of nestin increased throughout the microvasculature in the ischemic core and the peri-infarct area in all experimental rats after 24 hours of ischemic injury. Nestin immunoreactivity increased in the subventricular zone during 12 hours to 3 days, and prominently increased in the ipsilateral cortex between 3–7 days. Nestin-labeled cells showed dual differentiation with microvessels near the infarct core and reactive astrocytes in the peri-infarct area. BrdU-labeled cells were increased gradually from day 1 in the ipsilateral subventricular zone and cortex, and numerous BrdU-labeled cells were observed in the peri-infarct area and non-lesioned cortex at 3 days. Effects of Nitrogen Source and Bacterial Elicitor on Isoflavone Accumulation in Root Cultures of Albizzia kalkora （Roxb.） Prain

Changes in cellular isoflavone （daidzein and genistein） contents were monitored in root cultures of Albizzia kalkora （Roxb.） Prain after feeding different ratios of NH4^＋/NO3^- and treatment with a biotic elicitor （three strains of Rhizobium sp.）. The NH4^＋/NO3^- ratio appears to be positively correlated with daidzein content in the roots and shows a negative correlation with genistein. Among the three different strains of Rhizobium used, the strain ATCC 15834 caused a 35% increase in daidzein production by infection. In the case of genistein, maximum production （94%） was obtained when cultures were treated on Day 6 by the strains ATCC 15834 and KCTC 1541. The biosynthetic pathway of the two isoflavones apparently reacts differently to the same culture conditions and the same strains of Rhizobium. Therefore, the present data suggest that the production of daidzein and genistein could be modulated by changing the NH4^＋/NO3^- ratio and the application of Rhizobium.

BACKGROUND Pancreatic walled-off necrosis(WON)rarely causes critical gastric necrosis and perforation,which may develop when pancreatic WON squashes against the *** Atlanta 2012 guidelines were introduced for acute pancreatitis and its related clinical ***,there are few reported cases describing the clinical course and resolution of pancreatic *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 45-year-old man who presented to the urgent emergency department with gastric perforation caused by a severe complication of pancreatic WON on computed *** patient underwent an emergency distal pancreatectomy,splenectomy,and gastric wedge *** findings showed re-perforation of the gastric wall at a previously resected ***,endoscopic examination revealed an ulcerative area with a defect in the *** diagnostic endoscopy,endoscopic vacuum-assisted closure was performed,and continuous suction was transferred over all tissues in contact with the sponge *** patient recovered without any further complications and was discharged in good condition at postoperative week *** recurrence occurred during the 6-mo follow-up *** When managing a patient with serious gastric perforation complicated by pancreatic WON,a multidisciplinary treatment approach should be considered.
