Process of establishing design requirements and selecting alternative configurations for conceptual design of a VLA

In this study,a process for establishing design requirements and selecting alternative configurations for the conceptual phase of aircraft design has been *** proposed process uses system-engineering-based requirement-analysis techniques such as objective tree,analytic hierarchy process,and quality function deployment to establish logical and quantitative ***,in order to perform a logical selection of alternative aircraft configurations,it uses advanced decision-making methods such as morphological matrix and technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal *** addition,a preliminary sizing tool has been developed to check the feasibility of the established performance requirements and to evaluate the flight performance of the selected *** present process has been applied for a two-seater very light aircraft（VLA）,resulting in a set of tentative design requirements and two families of VLA configurations：a high-wing configuration and a low-wing *** resulting set of design requirements consists of three categories：customer requirements,certification requirements,and performance *** performance requirements include two mission requirements for the flight range and the endurance by reflecting the customer *** flight performances of the two configuration families were evaluated using the sizing tool developed and the low-wing configuration with conventional tails was selected as the best baseline configuration for the VLA.

Right hepatectomy in living donors with previous abdominal surgery

BACKGROUND： Few studies have evaluated the impact of previous abdominal surgery （PAS） on living donor right hepatectomy （LDRH）. The aim of this study was to investigate the outcomes of liver transplantation using right lobe grafts of living donors with PAS. METHODS： Data were reviewed from LDRH patients at the authors＇ institution between March 2008 and November 2014. LDRH patients with PAS were divided into two groups according to upper PAS （group 1） or lower PAS （group 2）, and they were compared to those without PAS （group 3） who were matched 1：1 based on age, gender, and body mass index. Periop- erative data, complications by the Clavien classification, and the outcomes with more than 14 months follow-up were compared. RESULTS： Twenty-three （4.9%） of a total of 471 LDRH donors had PAS. Eleven donors were assigned to group 1, 12 to group 2, and 23 to group 3. Intraperitoneal adhesions were found in 20 （87.0%） of 23 donors with PAS, of whom 5 （21.7%） had adhesiolysis-related injuries that happened more commonly in group 1 than in group 2 （P=0.025）. LDRH was successfully completed under upper midline laparotomy in all donors. No donors received perioperative blood transfusion. The peak postoperative AST, ALT, INR, and total bilirubin levels made no difference between the three groups. Compared with group 3, groups 1 and 2 had a longer operative time （P=0.012） and a higher grade I complication rate （P=0.047）. All donors recovered fully to their routine activities. The 23 recipients of grafts from donors with PAS showed good liver function with 1-year graft and patient survivals of 100%. CONCLUSION： A history of PAS is not a contraindication to LDRH in the current era of advanced surgical techniques.

Conversion of twice-daily to once-daily tacrolimus is safe in stable adult living donor liver transplant recipients

Once-daily extended-release tacrolimus （Tac-OD） has been introduced as a useful therapeutic option to increase patient adherence to immunosuppressive therapy. This study aimed to evaluate the safety, efficacy and immunosuppressant adherence of conversion from twice-daily tacrolimus （Tac-BID） to Tac-OD in stable adult living donor liver transplant （LDLT） recipients in a single institution. METHODS： Between February and May 2013, Tac-BID was converted to Tac-OD in recipients followed up for at least 12 months after transplantation and without previous rejection episodes. The switching policy was based on a dose ratio of 1：1 with dose adjustment target trough levels at 3-5 ng/mL. Tacro- limus trough levels, laboratory parameters, metabolic disor- ders, and adverse events were assessed. RESULTS： A total of 229 patients were enrolled in the study. The median age at conversion was 53 years （range 31-73）. The median transplant duration was 35.3 months （range 12.0-95.4）. During a median follow-up of 13.5 months after conversion, 9 patients returned to Tac-BID because of adverse events. No acute rejection episodes were observed. Of 214 patients still on Tac-OD at 12 months, 12 （5.6%） received a reduced dose and 95 （44.4%） required an increased dose over baseline. Overall adherence was 82.2% at the end of follow-up. CONCLUSION： The conversion from Tac-BID to Tac-OD with similar target trough levels after conversion is safe and effec- tive for long-term stable LDLT patients.

Estimation of deformed laser heat sources and thermal analysis on laser assisted turning of square member

Laser assisted machining （LAM） has difficulties in estimating temperature after applying a LAM process due to its very small heat input area, large energy and movement. In particular, in the case of laser assisted turning （LAT） process, it is more difficult to estimate the temperature after preheating because it has a shape of ellipse when a laser heat source is rotated. A prediction method and thermal analysis method for heat source shapes were proposed as a square shaped member was preheated. The temperature distribution was calculated according to the rotation of the member. Compared with the results of the former study, the maximum temperature of the calculation results, 1 407.1 ℃, is 8.5 ℃ higher than that of the square member, which is 1 398.6 ℃. In a LAT process for a square member, the maximum temperature is 1 850.8 ℃. It is recognized that a laser power control process is required because square members show a maximum temperature that exceeds a melting temperature at around a vertex of the member according to the rotation.

We experimentally investigate the stabilization of the anatase phase of Ti_(1-x)Sn_(x)O_(2)(x<0.5)nanofibers when synthesized by an electrospinning *** as-spun nanofibers became nano-grained,polycrystalline nanofibers after calcination and the diameters of the nanofibers depend on Sn *** of the anatase phase in Ti-rich compositions and incorporation of Sn ions were confirmed by X-ray diffraction,Raman,X-ray absorption near-edge structure,and photoluminescence(PL)*** from the PL study also demonstrated the tunable nature of the optical properties,with the emission maximum shifting towards higher wavelength with increasing Sn concentration.

Mapping bathymetry based on waterlines observed from low altitude Helikite remote sensing platform

Mapping shoreline changes along coastal regions is critically important in monitoring continuously rising sea surface heights due to climate change and frequent severe storms. Thus, it is especially important if the region has very high tidal ranges over very gentle tidal flats, which is a very vulnerable region. Although the various remote sensing platforms can be used to map shoreline changes, the spatial and temporal resolutions are not enough to obtain it for a short time. Accordingly, in this study we introduce the newly developed low altitude Helikite remote sensing platform to achieve much better resolutions of shorelines and a bathymetry. The Helikite stands for Helium balloon and Kite, which is a kind of aerial platform that uses the advantages of both a Helium balloon and a kite. Field experiments were conducted in the jaebu Island, off the coast of the west Korean Peninsula in January 29, 2011. In order to extract shorelines from the consecutive images taken by the low altitude Helikite remote sensing platform, active contours without edges （ACWE） is used. Edges or boundaries exist primarily on places between one type of objective and the other. Since the hydrodynamic pressure has an effect everywhere, the locations of the waterlines can be the isobath lines. We could map several waterlines, which would enable us to complete a local bathymetry map ranges from 35 to 60 cm depth. The error resulting from applying ACWE algorithm to the imagery to determine the waterline is approximately less than 1 m. Therefore, it is very unique way to obtain such high resolutions of bathymetry with high accuracy for the regions of extremely high tidal ranges for a short time.

Utilization of nano/micro-size iron recovered from the fine fraction of automobile shredder residue for phenol degradation in water

The study investigates the magnetic separation of Fe from automobile shredder residue （ASR）（〈 0.25 mm） and its application for phenol degradation in water. The magnetically separated Fe was subjected to an ultrasonically assisted acid treatment, and the degradation of phenol in an aqueous solution using nano/micro-size Fe （n/m Fe） was investigated in an effort to evaluate the possibility of utilizing n/m Fe to remove phenol from wastewater. The prepared n/m Fe was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）. The eflects of the dosages ot n/mFe, pH, concentration of phenol and amount of H2O2 on phenol removal were evaluated. The results confirm that the phenol degradation rate was improved with an increase in the dosages of n/mFe and H2O2; however, the rate is reduced when the phenol concentration is higher. The degradation of phenol by n/mFe followed the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The value of the reaction rate constant （k）was increased as the amounts of n/m Fe and H2O2 increased. Conversely, the value of k was reduced when the concentration of phenol was increased. The probable mechanism behind the degradation of phenol by n/m Fe is the oxidation of phenol through hydroxyl radicals which are produced during the reaction between H2O2 and n/m Fe.

Review on the characteristics of liver-pacifying medicinal in relation to the treatment of stroke: from scientific evidence to traditional medical theory

OBJECTIVE： To analyze the characteristics of liver pacifying medicinal in the treatment of brain disease to provide scientific evidence in clinical usage on ***： MEDLINE/PubMed, Google Scholar, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database were used as the literature sources. The Scientific name, Latin pharmaceutical name, Chinese name of 7 kinds of liver pacifying medicinal including Gouteng （Ramulus Uncariae Rhynchophyllae cure Uncis）, Tianma （Rhizoma Gastrodiae）, Juemingzi （Semen Cassiae Obtusifoliae）, Quanxie （Scorpio）, Wugong （Scolopendra）, Jiangcan （Bombyx Batryticatus）, and Dilong （Pheretima Aspergillum） were used as the keywords to search the databases for relevant publications up to July 2016. Their major compounds were also used as the keywords. The papers were selected based on the pharmacological activities and mechanisms of action related to brain diseases and subsequently, were analyzed and reviewed. We first described the origin, efficacy, and clinical indications of selected medicines, then brain disease specific activities focusing on stroke after the description of the general pharmacological activities. RESULTS： On the basis of the literature of scientific studies and clinical use in traditional medicine, we found and discussed the characteristics of liver pacifying medicinal in stroke treatment. First, liver-pacifying medicinal, or their components, might pass through the blood-brain barrier and act directly on neurons or on the neural network to provide protective effects against brain disease. Second, although it could be used throughout the disease duration, treatment of stroke might be more effective from the subacute up to the convalescent phase than the acute ***： We can suggest that live pacifying medicinal has beneficial pharmacological activities directly or indirectly on neurons in brain disease and is useful for the treatment of stroke from subacute to convalescent phase.

Non-Invasive Measurements of Thickness of Superconductor Films by Using Two-Resonant-Mode Rutile Resonator

The film thickness should be known for extrazting the intrinsic surface resistance from the effective surface resistance as measured by using the dielectric resonator method. Thicknesses of 70 nm to 360 nm are measured for YBa2 Cu3 O7-δ films in a non-invasive way by using the two-resonant-mode dielectric resonator （TDR） method. A futile resonator with the respective resonant frequencies of 15.25-15.61 GHz and 15.10-15.37 GHz for the TE021 and the TE012 modes is used for this purpose. Differences between the values as measured by using the TDR technique and those measured by using a step profilometer appear to be less than 3%, which is smaller than the previous value of 5% as measured by using a 8. 6 GHz single-resonance mode futile resonator [Lee et al. J. Korean Phys. Soc. 54（2009）1619]. Merits of using the TDR method are discussed.
