Fabrication of Dual-pore Scaffolds Using a Combination of Wire-Networked Molding （WNM） and Non-solvent Induced Phase Separation （NIPS） Techniques

In this study, to fabricate dual-pore scaffolds with interconnected pores, Non-solvent Induced Phase Separation （NIPS） and Wire-Network Molding （WNM） techniques were combined. First, a mold with uniform slits was prepared, and needles were inserted into the mold. Subsequently, polycaprolactone （PCL） pellets were dissolved in tetrahydrofuran （THF） at a specified ratio. The slurry was mixed using hot plate stirrer at 1200 rpm for 24 hours at 40 ~C. The PCL slurry was subsequently injected into the mold. Thereafter, to exchange the THF （solvent） with the ethanol （non-solvent）, the mold was soaked in an ethanol bath. After removing the mold from the ethanol bath, the needles were removed from the mold. Consequently, dual-pore scaffold with interconnected pores was obtained. The surface morphology of the fabricated scaffolds were observed using Scanning Electron Microscope （SEM）. Moreover, cell culture experiments were performed using the CCK-8 assay, and the characteristics of cells grown on the dual-pore scaffolds were assessed and were compared with the NIPS-based 3D plotting scaffold.

A bias in clear-sky conditions that will be involved in estimating particulate matter （PM） concentration from aerosol optical depth （AOD） was examined using PM10 from two Aerosol Robotic Network sites in Korea. The study periods were between 2004 and 2007 at Anmyon and between 2003 and 2011 at Gosan, when both PM10 and AOD were available. Mean PM10 when AOD was available （PMAOD） was higher than that from all PM10 data （PMall） by 5.1 and 9.9 μg/m3 at Anmyon and Gosan, which accounted for 11% and 26% of PMall, respectively. Because of a difference between mean PM10 under daytime clear-sky conditions （PMclear） and PMAoD, the variations in APM10, the difference of PMan from PMdear rather than from PMAoD, were investigated. Although monthly variations in APMlo at the two sites were different, they were positively correlated to those in AT, similarly defined as APM10 except for temperature, at both sites. APM10 at Anmyon decreased to a negative value in January due to an influence of the Siberian continental high-pressure system while APM10 at Gosan was high in winter due to an effect of photochemical production at higher temperatures than at Anmyon.

For the purpose of development of highly energy-efficient light sources,one needs to design highly efficient green,red and yellow phosphors,which are able to absorb excitation energy and generate *** this contribution,we present our results on producing some efficient phosphors with improved luminescence *** double activation,energy could be transferred from one luminescent activator to the other one,resulting in more efficient or brighter device ***-activators could be added to a host material to change the color of the emitted *** incorporation of Eu3+ or Tb3+ ions into the CaWO4 crystal lattice modified the luminescence spectrum due to the formation of the emission centers that generated the specific red and green *** efficient new red phosphors based on YNbO4 and doped by Eu3+,Ga3+,Al3+ allowed recommending these materials as good candidates for different applications including LED and X-ray intensifying *** double activated TAG with Ce3+ and Eu3+ and for different mole ratios of Ce/Eu,the color temperature changed from 5500 K(0.331,0.322) up to 4200 K(0.370,0.381) and the light became 'warmer'.Application of TAG:Ce,Eu in the light emitting device showed better chromaticity coordinates of luminescence and color rendering index of LEDs.

Magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs), Ni-doped ZnO materials, prepared by sol-gel method were investigated by measuring magnetization as functions of magnetic field. The Ni content affects the magnetic properties at low sintered temperature but it has few effects on the magnetic properties at high sintered temperature. The sintered temperature has great effects on the magnetic properties of Ni/ZnO at high original mole ratio of Ni/Zn while it has slight effects on the magnetic properties of Ni/ZnO at low original mole ratio of Ni/Zn whatever low or high sintered temperature.

A1203/5%SIC nanocomposites were fabricated by pressureless sintering using MgO as a sintering aid and then post hot-isostatic pressed （HIP）, which can subsequently break through the disadvantage of hot-pressing process. The MgO additive was able to promote the densification of the composites, but could not induce the grain growth of A1203 matrix due to the grain growth inhibition by nano-sized SiC particles. After HIP treatment, A12OJSiC nanocomposites achieved full densification and homogeneous distribution of nano-sized SiC particles. Moreover, the fracture morphology of HIP treated specimens was identical with that of the hot-pressed A1203/SiC nanocomposites showing complete transgranular fracture. Consequently, high fracture strength of 1 GPa was achieved for the A1203/5%SIC nanocomposites by pressureless sintering and post HIP process.

Multiferroic materials with coexisting ferroelectric and magnetic orders have attracted tremendous research interests because of their intriguing fundamental physics as well as potential applications in the next-generation multifunctional devices. Hexaferrites with conical magnetic structures are among the most promising single-phase multiferroics because strong magnetoelectric effects can be achieved in them from low temperatures up to room temperature in low magnetic fields. In this review, after briefly introducing the background on multiferroics and classification of hexaferrites, we summarize recent progress in multiferroic hexaferrites, including the mechanisms of spin-induced ferroelectricity, the magnetoelectric phase diagram, giant direct and converse magnetoelectric effects. Furthermore, we present a new mechanism of magnetic-ion-induced displacive polarization in hexaferrites, which leads to quantum paraelectricity and quantum electric-dipole liquid in M-type hexaferrites.

We consider dual Toeplitz operators on the orthogonal complements of the FockSobolev spaces of all nonnegative real ***,for symbols in a certain class containing all bounded functions,we study the problem of when an operator which is finite sums of the dual Toeplitz products is compact or ***,for bounded symbols,we construct a symbol map and exhibit a short exact sequence associated with the C^(*)-algebra generated by all dual Toeplitz operators with bounded symbols.

Effect of asymmetrical channel chirping on field intensity patterns of supermodes and modal discrimination in index guided laser arrays

The effect of channel-width chirping on near- and far-field intensity patterns of the six supermodes was investigated. The supermode discrimination was evaluated in various channel-chirped index guided laser arrays. The results show that the linearly channel-chirped laser array has very good supermode discrimination which is better than that of a uniform laser array, the V channel-chirped laser array has the smallest radiation angle of the fundamental supermode among the calculated arrays, and the asymmetrically V channel-chirped array has a very small radiation angle of the fundamental supermode, which is smaller than that of the uniform array and also allows for very good fundamental supermode discrimination against the higher-order supermodes, which is better than that of the V channel-chirped laser array.

Have you heard of NG2 cells or NG2 glia or polydendro- cytes~. These are new names for the precursor cells that used to be referred to as oligodendrocyte precursor cells （OPCs）, which become the oligodendrocytes that myelinate central nervous system （CNS） axons. Evidence suggests, however, that they have other functions, besides differentiating into oligodendrocytes. Most notably, the OPCs/NG2 cells are uni- formly distributed in grey matter as well as in white matter, which matches poorly with the distribution of myelinating oligodendrocytes. Furthermore, not every NG2 cell is fated to become an oligodendrocyte. Hence the term OPC can be fairly applied only when discussing the role of these cells in the oligodendrocyte lineage.
