Clinical significance of surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein invasion:a nationwide cohort study

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with portal vein invasion(PVI)is considered an advanced stage with a poor *** current guidelines recommend systemic treatment for HCC with PVI,surgical resection could produce acceptable outcomes in selected *** study aimed to identify the clinical significance of surgical resection for HCC with PVI patients using a large-scale nationwide ***:This retrospective,multicenter,observational cohort analyzed data from the Korean Primary Liver Cancer Registry.A total of 16,781 patients who were newly diagnosed with HCC between 2008 and 2018 were enrolled in this *** with worse Child-Turcotte-Pugh scores(≥7)or performance status(≥2)were *** them,998 patients who received treatment for HCC with PVI were included in the analysis and were divided into two groups:resection group of 151(15.1%)and palliative group of 847(84.9%)who received transarterial and systemic therapy according to the treatment *** matching the number and size of the tumors and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score between the groups,the final study cohort for analysis comprised 151(26.6%)patients in the resection group and 417(73.4%)in the palliative *** primary endpoints were overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS).Results:The number and maximum size of HCC did not differ between the resection and palliative groups after matching[1(range,1-5)vs.1(range,1-6),P=0.11 and 5.5(range,1.2-20.6)vs.6.0(range,1.0-20.5)cm,P=0.24,respectively].Tumor markers,including alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II(PIVKA-II),also did not differ between the groups(P=0.29 and P=0.36,respectively).The 5-year OS and CSS rates of the resection and palliative groups were 44.8%and 17.4%(P<0.001)and 47.7%and 18.6%(P<0.001),*** analysis showed that palliative treatment intent was the most significant risk factor for OS and CSS[odds ratio(OR

Does prostate-specific antigen (PSA)mass or free PSA mass improve the accuracy of predicting total prostate volume in relation to obesity in men with biopsy-proven benign prostatic hyperplasia?

We evaluated whether the prostate-specific antigen (PSA)mass or free PSA (fPSA)mass (i.e.,absolute amount of total circulating PSA or fPSA protein,respectively),versus serum PSA or fPSA concentration,improves the accuracy of predicting the total prostate volume (TPV)in relation to *** men whose multicore (≥12)transrectal prostate biopsy was negative,586 who had a PSA of <10 ng ml^-1 and underwent the fPSA test prior to biopsy were *** PSA mass or fPSA mass (pg)was calculated by multiplying the serum level by plasma *** each TPV cut-off point (30 ml,40 ml,and 50 ml),the areas under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUCs)of each variable were compared in obesity-based *** of fPSA and fPSA mass for predicting TPV were significantly larger than those for PSA and PSA mass by 8.7%-12.1%at all cut-off points. Subgroup analyses based on obesity showed that,although PSA mass and fPSA mass enhanced accuracy by 4%(P =0.031)and 1.8%(P =0.003),respectively,for determining TPVs of ≥30 ml and ≥50 ml in obese and overweight men,they did not improve the accuracy in most other combinations of the degrees of obesity with TPV cut-off ***,compared with serum PSA or fPSA,the absolute amount of PSA or fPSA protein mass improved the accuracy of predicting TPV in obese men very minimally and only for certain TPV cut-off ***,these indicators may not provide clinically meaningful improvement in predicting TPV in obese men.

Let V be a vertex operator superalgebra and g=(12···k)be a k-cycle which is viewed as an automorphism of the tensor product vertex operator superalgebra V^(■k).In this paper,we construct an explicit isomorphism from A_(g)(V^(■k))to A(V)if k is odd and to Aσ(V)if k is even whereσis the canonical automorphism of V of order 2 determined by the superspace structure of *** recover previous results by Barron(2016)and Barron and Vander Werf(2014)that there is a one-to-one correspondence between irreducible g-twisted V^(■k)-modules and irreducible V-modules(***σ-twisted V-modules)when k is odd(***).This explicit isomorphism is expected to be useful in our further study on the Zhu algebra of the fixed point subalgebra.

The dynamic mechanism of short range interactions between u/d quarks remains an open and challenging *** order to reveal this quark dynamics,we perform a systematic analysis of N N,D_(03),and D_(30)systems in the(extended)chiral SU(3)constituent quark *** comparing results calculated with different models and different parameter sets,the effects of one gluon exchange and vector meson exchange terms are carefully *** results indicate that the vector meson exchange interactions dominate the short range interactions between u/d quarks,whereas the small residual one gluon exchange coupling strength is also allowed.

Detection of Perfect Stealthy Attacks on Cyber-Physical Systems Subject to Measurement Quantizations: A Watermark-Based Strategy

In this paper, the attack detection problem is investigated for a class of closed-loop systems subjected to unknownbutbounded noises in the presence of stealthy attacks. The measurement outputs from the sensors are quantized before transmission.A specific type of perfect stealthy attack, which meets certain rather stringent conditions, is taken into account. Such attacks could be injected by adversaries into both the sensor-toestimator and controller-to-actuator channels, with the aim of disrupting the normal data flow. For the purpose of defending against these perfect stealthy attacks, a novel scheme based on watermarks is developed. This scheme includes the injection of watermarks(applied to data prior to quantization) and the recovery of data(implemented before the data reaches the estimator).The watermark-based scheme is designed to be both timevarying and hidden from adversaries through incorporating a time-varying and bounded watermark signal. Subsequently, a watermark-based attack detection strategy is proposed which thoroughly considers the characteristics of perfect stealthy attacks,thereby ensuring that an alarm is activated upon the occurrence of such attacks. An example is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed mechanism for detecting attacks.

Hydrogen is a renewable and clean energy,and photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen evolution technology is a promising technical means to solve the development *** this study,the ternary composite Co_(8)POM@MXene–CdS hybrid catalyst was constructed and used for photocatalytic hydrogen *** the condition of AM 1.5G simulated sunlight,the photocatalytic H_(2) evolution rate of the ternary composite was 8.13 mmol g^(−1) h^(−1),which was more than 25 times higher than that of the bare *** means of synchronous illumination X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(SI-XPS)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it was proved that the loading of MXene and Co_(8)POM improved the photogenerated carrier separation and immigration efficiency on *** photogenerated electrons transfer from CdS to ***_(8)POM containing the{Co_(4)O_(3)}quasi-cubane,as an oxidation co-catalyst,accepts photogenerated holes from CdS to catalyze the oxidation reaction of TEOA,which improves the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity and the stability of CdS.

As modern communication and detection technologies advance at a swift pace,multifunctional electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials with active/positive infrared stealth,hydrophobicity,and electric-thermal conversion ability have received extensive *** the aforesaid requirements simultaneously remains a huge *** this research,the melamine foam(MF)/polypyrrole(PPy)nanowire arrays(MF@PPy)were fabricated via one-step electrochemical *** hierarchical MF@PPy foam was composed of three-dimensional PPy micro-skeleton and ordered PPy nanowire *** to the upwardly grown PPy nanowire arrays,the MF@PPy foam possessed good hydrophobicity ability with a water contact angle of 142.00°and outstanding stability under various harsh ***,the MF@PPy foam showed excellent thermal insulation property on account of the low thermal conductivity and elongated ligament characteristic of PPy nanowire ***,taking advantage of the high conductivity(128.2 S m^(-1)),the MF@PPy foam exhibited rapid Joule heating under 3 V,resulting in dynamic infrared stealth and thermal camouflage *** importantly,the MF@PPy foam exhibited remarkable EMI shielding effectiveness values of 55.77 dB and 19,928.57 dB cm^(2)g^(-1).Strong EMI shielding was put down to the hierarchically porous PPy structure,which offered outstanding impedance matching,conduction loss,and multiple *** innovative approach provides significant insights to the development of advanced multifunctional EMI shielding foams by constructing PPy nanowire arrays,showing great applications in both military and civilian fields.
