Significant enhancement of photoresponsive characteristics and mobility of MoS2-based transistors through hybridization with perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots

Inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) are potential nanoscale photosensitizers;moreover,two-dimensional (2-D) molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been intensively studied for application in the active layers of optoelectronic *** this study,heterostructures of 2D-monolayered MoS2 with zero-dimensional functionalized CsPbBr3 QDs were prepared,and their nanoscale optical characteristics were *** effect of n-type doping on the MoS2 monolayer after hybridization with perovskite CsPbBr3 QDs was observed using laser confocal microscope photoluminescenca (PL) and Raman ***-effect transistors (FETs) using MoS2 and the MoS2-CsPbBr3 QDs hybrid were also fabricated,and their electrical and photoresponsive characteristics were investigated in terms of the charge transfer *** the MoS2-CsPbBr3 QDs-based FETs,the field effect mobility and photoresponsivity upon light irradiation were enhanced by ~ 4 times and a dramatic ~ 17 times,respectively,compared to the FET prepared without the parovskite QDs and without light *** is noteworthy that the photoresponsivity of the MoS-2-CsPbBr3 QDs-based FETs significantly increased with increasing light power,which is completely contrary to the behavior observed in previous studies of MoS2-based *** increased mobility and significant enhancement of the photoresponsivity can be attributed to the n-type doping effect and efficient energy transfer from CsPbBr3 QDs to *** results indicate that the optoelectronic characteristics of MoS2-based FETs can be significantly improved through hybridization with photosensitive parovskite CsPbBr3 QDs.

Expression of micro RNAs in fibroblast of pterygium

BACKGROUND Breast cancer in young women has been shown to have an aggressive behavior and poor *** To evaluate the outcomes of young hormone receptor(HR)-positive patients with breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC),and the oncologic efficacy of gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)*** This retrospective study involved a prospectively enrolled *** included patients diagnosed with invasive breast cancer who were treated with NAC followed by curative surgery at the Samsung Medical Center and Samsung Changwon Hospital between January 2006 and December *** patients with HR-positive and human epidermal grow factor 2(HER2)-negative breast cancer,we analyzed the characteristics and oncology outcomes between the patients equal to or younger than 35 years and the patients older than 35 *** Among 431 patients with NAC and HR-positive/HER2-negative breast cancer,78 were 35 years old or younger,and 353 patients were older than 35 *** median follow-up was 71.0 *** was no statistically significant difference in disease free survival(DFS,P=0.565)and overall survival(P=0.820)between the patients equal to or younger than 35 years and the patients older than 35 *** two groups differed in that the GnRH agonist was used more frequently in the group of patients equal to or younger than 35 years than in the other group(52.4%vs 11.2%,Pyounger than 35 years,patients treated with the GnRH agonist had better DFS(P=0.037).CONCLUSION Administration of GnRH agonists might improve the DFS rate of HR-positive/HER2-negative breast cancer in the equal to or younger than 35 years group of patients with NAC.

Is it possible to differentiate gastric GISTs from gastric leiomyomas by EUS?

AIM: To evaluate the ultrasonog raphy (EUS) features of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) as compared with gastric leiomyomas and then to determine the EUS features that could predict malignant ***: We evaluated the endoscopic EUS features in 53 patients with gastric mesenchymal tumors conf irmed by histopathologic diagnosis. The GISTs were classif ied into benign and malignant groups according to the histological risk classif ***: Immunohistochemical analyses demon-strated 7 leiomyomas and 46 GISTs. Inhomogenicity, hyperechogenic spots, a marginal halo and higher echogenicity as compared with the surrounding muscle layer appeared more frequently in the GISTs than in the leiomyomas (P < 0.05). The presence of at least two of these four features had a sensitivity of 89.1% and a specifi city of 85.7% for predicting GISTs. Except for tumor size and irregularity of the border, most of the EUS features were not helpful for predicting the malignant potential of GISTs. On multivariate analysis, only the maximal diameter of the GISTs was an independent predictor. The optimal size for predicting malignant GISTs was 35 mm. The sensitivity and specificity using this value were 92.3% and 78.8%, ***: EUS may help to differentiate gastric GISTs from gastric leiomyomas. Once GISTs are suspected, surgery should be considered if the size is greater than 3.5 cm.

High-speed and high-performance polarization-based quantum key distribution system without side channel effects caused by multiple lasers

Side channel effects such as temporal disparity and intensity fluctuation of the photon pulses caused by random bit generation with multiple laser diodes in high-speed polarization-based BB84 quantum key distribution(QKD) systems can be eliminated by increasing the DC bias current condition. However, background photons caused by the spontaneous emission process under high DC bias current degrade the performance of QKD systems. In this study, we investigated the effects of spontaneously emitted photons on the system performance in a high-speed QKD system at a clock rate of 400 MHz. Also, we show further improvements in the system performance without side channel effects by utilizing the temporal filtering technique with real-time fieldprogrammable gate array signal processing.

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the liver presenting as a unilocular cyst

BACKGROUND:A malignant fibrous histiocytoma,recently referred to as an undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS),is very rare in the liver,and only 34 cases of primary hepatic malignant fibrous histiocytoma have been reported in the English literature. METHODS:We report a rare case of a hepatic UPS presenting as a unilocular cystic lesion with respect to histopathologic features,the newly revised diagnostic criteria,and the differential diagnosis. RESULTS:A 60-year-old man presented for evaluation of epigastric pain of 7 months *** computed tomography revealed a hypodense,unilocular cystic mass in the right lobe of the liver,measuring 14.0×11.1 cm.A right lobectomy was ***,the cut surface showed a single,well-circumscribed unilocular cystic tumor mass containing dark red-brown necrotic debris and blood clots, which occupied most of the ***,the tumor consisted of haphazardly arranged mononuclear pleomorphic tumor cells,admixed with abundant osteoclast- like multinucleated giant ***,the tumor cells expressed vimentin *** histopathologic and immunohistochemical findings were compatible with a *** patient is alive and well 41 months after surgery without recurrence. CONCLUSIONS:Clinically,most of the hepatic UPSs are solid *** two cases have presented as multilocular cystic masses.A primary hepatic UPS presenting as a unilocular cyst has never been reported.A UPS should be included in the differential diagnosis of unilocular cystic lesions in the liver.

Copper nanowire/multi-walled carbon nanotube com- posites as all-nanowire flexible electrode for fast-charging/ discharging lithium-ion battery

A novel lightweight three-dimensional （3D） composite anode for a fast-charging] discharging Li-ion battery （LIB） was fabricated entirely using one-dimensional （1D） nanomaterials, i.e., Cu nanowires （CuNWs） and multi-walled C nanotubes （MWCNTs）. Because of the excellent electrical conductivity, high-aspect ratio structures, and large surface areas of these nanomaterials, the CuNW-MWCNT composite （CNMC） with 3D structure provides significant advantages regarding the transport pathways for both electrons and ions. As an advanced binder-free anode, a CuNW-MWCNT composite film with a controllable thickness （~ 600 prn） exhibited a considerably low sheet resistance, and internal cell resistance. Furthermore, the random CuNW network with 3D structure acting as a rigid framework not only prevented MWCNT shrinkage and expansion due to aggregation and swelling but also minimized the effect of the volume change during the charge/discharge process. Both a half cell and a full cell of LIBs with the CNMC anode exhibited high specific capacities and Coulombic efficiendes, even at a high current. More importantly, we for the first time overcame the limitation of MWCNTs as anode materials for fast-charging]discharging LIBs （both half cells and full cells） by employing CuNWs, and the resulting anode can be applied to flexible LIBs. This innovative anode structure can lead to the development of ultrafast chargeable LIBs for electric vehides.

An inside-out vein graft filled with platelet-rich plasma for repair of a short sciatic nerve defect in rats

Platelet-rich plasma containing various growth factors can promote nerve regeneration. An inside-out vein graft can substitute nerve autograft to repair short nerve defects. It is hypothesized that an inside-out vein graft filled with platelet-rich plasma shows better effects in the repair of short sciatic nerve defects. In this study, an inside-out vein autograft filled with platelet-rich plasma was used to bridge a 10 mm-long sciatic nerve defect in rats. The sciatic nerve function of rats with an inside-out vein autograft filled with platelet-rich plasma was better improved than that of rats with a simple inside-out vein autograft. At 6 and 8 weeks, the sciatic nerve function of rats with an inside-out vein autograft filled with platelet-rich plasma was better than that of rats undergoing nerve autografting. Compared with the sciatic nerve repaired with a simple inside-out vein autograft, the number of myelinated axons was higher, axon diameter and myelin sheath were greater in the sciatic nerve repaired with an inside-out vein autograft filled with plateletrich plasma and they were similar to those in the sciatic nerve repaired with nerve autograft. These findings suggest that an inside-out vein graft filled with platelet-rich plasma can substitute nerve autograft to repair short sciatic nerve defects.

Contemporary management of locally advanced rectal cancer:Resolving issues, controversies and shifting paradigms

Advancements in rectal cancer treatment have resulted in improvement only in locoregional control and have failed to address distant relapse, which is the predominant mode of treatment failure in rectal cancer. As the efficacy of conventional chemoradiotherapy（CRT） followed by total mesorectal excision（TME） reaches a plateau, the need for alternative strategies in locally advanced rectal cancer（LARC） has grown in relevance. Several novel strategies have been conceptualized to address this issue, including： 1） neoadjuvant induction and consolidation chemotherapy before CRT; 2） neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone to avoid the sequelae of radiation; and 3） nonoperative management for patients who achieved pathological or clinical complete response after CRT. This article explores the issues, recent advances and paradigm shifts in the management of LARC and emphasizes the need for a personalized treatment plan for each patient based on tumor stage, location, gene expression and quality of life.
